Well because of you I feel like I'm mastering it greatly. The cake has come out moist my secret is I add a few extra egg yolks I'm not sure if that helps or not but it's been great. I'm so thankful for your recipes you've blessed me several times, but this put the icing on the cake literally!! Be blessed
I made this recipe last night and I LOVE this recipe! The butter extract is needed and what I was missing when trying to make a yellow cake from scratch. Also, I used cake flour instead and this recipe is IT! I used homemade strawberry cream cheese frosting for the cake. Actually I used your REAL cream cheese frosting recipe and just added strawberries. Thank you Monique. You never fail!

Baked this cake today, and it turned out great! Moist and flavored! Made a rookie mistake when I took one of the cakes out of the pan still too hot and it split in half. I just put that one as the top layer and made it work!

Just finished making this cake. It was simple and alot of fun. I did make a few modifications. Added a extra yolk for more of a yellow color. Added a teaspoon of lemon extract in the cake. Made a ganasch frosting instead of old fashioned because I'm lazy and it was quicker. Lol. I must say your recipes are hands down THE BEST! I recently had weight loss surgery and can't eat any of the creations but I love the process so much I don't even care. Lol. Thanks for making me feel like Julia Child in my kitchen😁

Yeah oil does make for a moister cake but it seems to dull the buttery taste. I tried it first with canola oil, then half oil/half butter, then with half butter/half butter shortening. I found all butter resulted in a more traditional yellow cake. Maybe reducing the butter to allow for 1/4 cup oil would allow that ultra moist texture...hmmm... I digress, recipe testing excites me!
Yes I used to make the old family recipe homemade biscuits with butter one day I didn't feel like running to the store for butter so I switched to oil soooooo delicious never switched back 🤫🤫don't tell the fam😂

How long did you cook it? I cooked 30 mins which was to long for my oven at 325. I could have eaten the whole bowl of batter by itself tho.

Hi Monique, did you grease and flour the pan before you put in the parchment paper also? This ius my favorite type of cake!
I greased the bottom, put down parchment (so it sticks), then greased and floured the whole pan.

Instead of flouting the pan I put some butter then regular sugar. It leave the cake with a delicious crispy caramelized outside!
