    He had been quite sick late 1969 until his death in 1971. He suffered from heart and kidney failure. He made a brief comeback in 1970 until 1971 when his last performance was in March at the Waldorf Astoria.

    My all time favorite voice.... Everytime I hear him sing my heart cries and dances and smiles all at the same time. Love and miss these guys!

    1970, He was almost 69 ,he had one year of life left... this performance is not only FLAWLESS but full of true emotion. One of a Kind. The Father of jazz. Just happens that in this case, that title is not at all an exageration nor adulation.
    And the band, Perfect! Accompaniyng a Singer in a ballad, this is how it's done. Would anyone know the line up, tenor specially?

      The Mike Douglas Show's then band leader, composer Joe Harnell, was likely on the piano. He was an accomplished musician.
