I was ten years old, growing up in Holland when I was in the back seat of my deads car. Louis had died it came over the Blaupunkt car radio. dad was a big tall Dutchman who never showed emotion.
He cried. He loved Louis so much. The endless evenings listening to his records. Now here I am at fifty five. Both my boys love Louis. R.I.P. louis, God loves you!
then you still alive right?
Possibly
I never met him and I love him dearly. Mr. Armstrong shared a beautiful gift beyond measure. My deepest and heartfelt Thank You to Louis Armstrong.
I saw this documentary on Louis Armstrong as a child in elementary school during "Black History Month" back in the early 1980's. I became a strong admirer of Louis Armstrong and his music from that day forward.
We all love him😭
Rest in peace Pops...Your music will live forever. One of the greatest Americans to ever live. Just read a newer book on him and its been about 10 years since I watched "Satchmo" or read the last book on him and he INSPIRED me all over again.
I was at the Blossom Center , just south of Cleveland ,oh. for a Ella Fitzgerald concert the day before Louie’s funeral. She sang about 4 songs, left the stage and didn’t come back out. Nobody left, just stood and kept applauding, she then came back on stage, shook hands with everyone in the audience, tears pouring out her eyes, then sang Louie songs for the next two hours! One of the most special nights of my life!
Would LOVE to met him, hug him...and tell him how much hew enrich my life ;)....
The greatest musician of ALL time and cannot be duplicated or replaced.....
This is kinda the same thing that happened to me my grandma love me so much I love her too one day she called my mom she had trouble breathing so she went to the hospital then she went in to coma and never woke up and died that was the last time I talked to her it was sad because it was around Christmas I miss her so much she make my life the best life ever I wish that I she survived please fill this comment section with joy:(
God bless you
I grew up in overseas, we only had 2 movie theatres, no concert halls nothing else. We had a record player and remember hearing him very often on radio France International, and being a fan of this man and his music. I'm now 70 and keep listening to his music which has always brought great joy to me.
Very powerful and stimulating -
20 th century greatest performer (and a GENIUS), IMO.......

Oh Man, this is so heartbreaking, I started listening to Satchmo when I was twelve years old and now im sixteen there isn't a single day that I don't listen to his music my favourites are Moon River, C'est si bon, Hello Dolly, Blueberry Hill, Jeepers Creepers and obviously What A Wonderful World I would like to transmit his music from generation to generation in my family, I'm so proud of what he has done. I pray for him✝️ May he rest in peace 🕊️❤
He probably thought to himself what a wonderful world
That was part of the beauty of his rendition: he knew so much horror and pain, and that knowldge is in his delivery as much as love and gratitude are.
What a wonderful world 😭😭😭😭
This is one of the loveliest videos I've seen on youtube. Thanks for sharing it!

May your beautiful soul continue to rest in peace, my good Sir. Obviously, you wouldn't have lived forever but if if a few had, you would be one of them.
my grannie had one of your songs played at her funeral
An American Treasure. I will never say goodbye. See you later Daddy Satchmo.......
I love his voice when his song plays u know it's him
So glad this documentary still exist. Pops Armstrong was beloved by all ethnic groups. I believe blacks revered him for being the master musician he was and greatest trumpet player on earth. I believe whites loved him for his: when its sleepy time down south, approach to singing which brought them comfort. Nevertheless less he remained at the top in show business for decades. Didn’t even President Nixon attend funeral and was seen crying or was that my imagination?
Rest in peace king
Rip the best jazz pertformers of all times!
I am going to cry and I'm not dealing with people that die

rip louis armstrong 🕊🙏
Well, I was 8 yrs old when he passed and of course, I was too young to know him in the way *then* that I have come to know him *now* , through his incredible music and that giant "postage stamp" smile. Just saying his name gives me goosepimples because I've since learned and have assessed for myself, that he was a legend among legends in music. I really like his work with Lady Day aka Billie Holiday and was impressed to find out that she used to sing to his songs on the radio, before she got into the business of singing herself. ruclips.net/video/cIMuWLgLQwY/видео.html It makes me happy to know that he was able to become the BEST at what he set out, in life to do, in spite of the odds against him due to cultural events at that time. What a wonderful, impactful and kind man he was. We will all "slip to the other side of the veiled curtain" one day, but for me, I only hope that I can use his example of how a human, a man with rise up, in spite of it all. In closing, I want to say thank you, Mr. Armstrong, for doing your part to make this place, called Earth, a more Wonderful World. A much belated R.I.P. to Mr. SatchMo.
White people respected this man..
Show me someone of any skin color who hates Louie Armstrong and ill punch them in the teeth.
