Single income family of 4 here. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to put this tutorial together. Not only did you save my dryer with this video but our bottomline as well, seeing as a repair or replacement would've put us in the red for sure. And as a side note, it's a real confidence booster as a "homemaker" when you're able to fix things like this. Truly appreciate you as a person for taking the time to share your knowledge and skills
Thank you!! Husband was out of town when my dryer quit, I ordered from amazon got it 2 days later and in an hour up and running! Texted hubby that it was fixed "You fixed it??????" I am woman hear me roar!
So my dryer just made a big thump noise and stopped turning. Your tutorial led me the exact problem, gave me part info. This video could not possibly be any better than it is. Thank you for what you do
Thank you for the video! our dryer experienced the exact same issue. we were able to get the dryer to spin again after we followed the instructions provided in your video! we saved probably around $300 in labor and parts because of the video that you posted. Thanks!
This saved my weekend! I had the same "thunk" and then it stopped. This video was the first result, and showed the exact same issue. My broken wheel was even in the same spot! $9.77 for the part on Amazon, shipped one-day delivery, and I was back in business the next day. Thank you so much!
Thank you for such a great video! Thankfully, my pulley assembly was not damaged. Following your easy instruction, I had the dryer back up and running within 20-mins. Thanks again.
Man you totally saved my life tonight! My dryer drum was binding and while I was trying to coax the belt with the motor on, it came flying off the idle pulley. Without a service manual I was dumbfounded to figure out how to thread the belt back properly between motor spindle and idle pulley! Your video saved me an expensive house call for a Sanyo dryer they don't even make anymore! You rock, buddy!!
I had my dryer thermostat replaced 14 months ago (my machine was 4 years old at the time...go figure) at a cost of $400. He could hear a grinding noise at the drum started turning and replaced this part as a courtesy. He indicated that those plastic parts just don't hold up. Now, the grinding is back again when the cycle starts. Thanks to your video we can replace it. I wish these were made of metal! Excellent video! Thanks!
Can still probably try it out, I’d imagine the inside mechanics are similar. Only hard/time consuming part will be figuring out the part number for the part that’s broken. A quick google search for the manual/parts diagram for your model, and I’m sure you could attempt a fix!
I must have a newer model as the back hole is much smaller than the one in your video. None the less, I ordered the part and was somehow able to get it all done with my left hand, not an easy fix but it works! $10 fix vs spending hundreds or more on a new one.
This was exactly what I needed! I will say, the part at 4:30 is a little confusing -- or at least it was for me. I thought I had to twist the line around the black motor wheel...but after looking at your after part just after that, its just pulling the belt to the motor and "looping" it around that without any twist motion. I think that was probably clear to a lot of people, but it did take me a few minutes to get it right. Either way, I really appreciate the video guide - saved me a lot of money!!
Thank you! Just finished my repair tonight thanks to this video. The only thing i was unsure of was how tight to screw in the part, but i think I did it properly.
I’m so grateful for you! I was able to fix my dryer and have a peace of mind again. Thank you for taking the time and make this video! You are a blessing! 😉😀
thank u! i had the same issue where dryer would start normally but when it's time to get my clothes out, they were wrinkled and not fully dry. found out the tumbler drum wasn't spinning and i was able to diagnose the issue because of your simple and easy to follow video! it ended up being the same isssue as the one you showed so i'm going to order the part now and get it fixed
This was helpful. I should have looked closer when I took my pulley assembly out, as I had ordered new wheels for the drum that came with a new tension belt/pulley and spring to refurbish my dryer. Wondered why it wasn’t turning the first time after putting it all in and did notice the tension not being right. After watching I saw how the belt had to be looped under the pulley wheel to attach to the motor. Kind of tricky to do with the drum in the way blindly, but it’s not that hard after you feel around in there, work with 2 hands as you said and raise the pulley up on its spring to do that loop under the pulley wheel. Dryer back to full operation again!
Thank you so much for making this video. All the other videos I watched on a loose belts wanted you to basically take your whole dryer off from the front. I had the exact same issue (except having to replace the part) as in the video and was able to fix the issue, using your video in about 30mins (because I also vacuumed a bunch of crap outta the dryer).
My dryer quit on me so i was about to drop 2k on a new set, then i decided to see if there was a fix and bang here i am, took me a few minutes to fix the issue thanks to your video. thank you now i have the extra cash for boat gas and fishing gear lol
I have a different model dryer but relatively the same concept. Much smaller area to work with compared to your model but with the help of your video I was able to feel inside and get the belt back on the pulley and re attach the spring and get it working again within 5 minutes. Thank you
Thanks for the video. As soon as i heard the click sound of the idle pulley on this video and having already seen that belt lose, i knew i had the same issue.
Saved me! Heard a bang while manually spinning the dryer. Of course wouldn’t start, opened up the back and noticed the loose belt but COULD NOT for the life of me find a diagram on how the good state should look like!
When I worked at the cotton mill, we always had bad bearings that needed replacing. But once you did that, those machines hummed, even though they were built in the 80s. I love replacing bearings. A little elbow grease and you're good to go!
You are amazing! Thank you thank you thank you for this video! I was able to fix my dryer all by myself. Getting the rubber around that little piece bout broke me but I got it done 🙌🏽 I appreciate you so much
Saved me a G brother. I was about to buy a new dryer when I saw this video and said "hmmm, lemme check see if the belt is loose like that." The rest is history. If you're ever in Toronto, beers on me lol
Thanks for thats exactly what it was . Except I didn't have to buy a new piece. I just needed to put the pully belt back on, awesome video very helpful subscribed
Thank You for this video! Belt came off, put it back on pulley & away we go! Works like new again🤗 Easy peezy...took no more then 15min💪 Ladies you can do this too!
Thanks for the video sr. But I need your help I have the same dryer and for some reason its different model number and serial number will this same part fits on it. Thx
There is 2 versions of that pulley available, one like you used with a bushing that is the same as the original or a second style that is a few dollars more that has ball bearings and I think will last a lot longer, also I suggest turning the spring around 90 degrees from the way you installed it, the lever action at the pivot point where the screw is is constantly moving and the way you have your spring it could possibly come off, just a suggestion for both of these items to make the repair more permanent, this not a hard repair but on a gas dryer like I have it is a bit more difficult because you have to be very gentle with the gas pipe.
Oh my god thank you!!!!! Ive been racking my head with it and ive been getting over $120 quote to come check it out... onky had to spend 35 with your video and did it all by myself
Thank you soooooo much, all the other help videos I found and with the symptoms my dryer was having, all signs pointed to the thermal fuse. When I got it opened up though, the belt was way loose. That's when I found this video. Question though, the grey tin plate you removed and where you stuck your arm through is not on my dryer. Same exact model# DV42H5200EW/A3. It is imprinting/stamped in the mold of the shell, you can see the shape of where the tin piece would be. Basically I only have the metal vent pipe size hole to get my arm through, hopefully I can do it one handed. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for posting this video! What a useful tutorial!! I was able to ordered the part and fixed the belt pulley , ofc my dad was helping! It saved up lots of money!! Appreciate your advice!! ❤❤
Thanks for video, I have one question I opened top cover and found belt is tight and by hand it rotating in this condition WHAT is issue same pully or something else. Please reply
You can repair it this way, much less time consuming than tearing the dryer down from the front. However a bit of advice, lay a cloth down over the metal edges of the hole you are working through. Those metal edges are really sharp, trust me. I found out the hard way with several gashes on my forearms.
Thank you señor for your great video…is giving me a good Idea about what is inside the dryer cause I never fix one before but I use to be really good at fixing stuff but unfortunately I suffered a stroke and now I can’t not even change a lightbulb… so hopefully with the help of my wife and son we will be able to fix it I hope is the same problem I will be the brain and they will be my arms and hands today is June the 13 th 2021 hopefully we will be able to fix it last night we all finish with the laundry so everything is cleaned and good for one more week…Gracias!!!😃
Thank you - Saved me a service call. Luckily with mine, the belt had just come off the pulley when someone tried to manually turn the can from the front.
My dryer is Samsung DVE45M5500P/AC 120/240 5400 W is and is not spin I checked from topr cover belt is there and tight even by hand i can rotate but by force not freely. Please advise what I have to do should I change pully If yes please mention part number for the same
I think our model is a little older. It does not have the access to the back through the vent... we took the front off and realized we would have to take the whole thing apart just to get it fixed. Would you have any suggestions as to repair it without having to take it all apart and save us $200 for a repair guy?
My rubber band belt thing and pulley still look in tact. The drum just won’t spin. Sometimes if I manually spin it and start it it will work but lately it hasn’t been. What else could it be
nice. 1) after you removed that exhaust tube, did you removed the rear panel? Seems like you had a lot of view and access from just the little area. 2) how did you know the belt serpentine like that?
I'm having trouble with my dryer. It's the same brand as this one but the belt isn't broken and the pullys are in place and working fine. But my dryer won't spin but it humms when I try and turn it on

Thank you Sir. I was afraid I was stuck buying a new dryer. Your instructions were spot on. God Bless!

This just happened to my dryer last night. I’m 70 yr old widow. I’m going to try to follow your video. Thanks hope it works.
What a user-friendly DIY video!!! My dryer doesn't match the model but your pacing and descriptions were spot on!
Can still probably try it out, I’d imagine the inside mechanics are similar.

You are a savior, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. After hours of attemps, I finally got the belt back on the pulley. You are the best!

Life saver, mine was just belt off the pulley, 2 years old Samsung dryer , lightly used. Thanks for the great video
This video helped us with a dryer issue. It took some muscle but we got the belt back on and it works. Thank you for the video!
I’m so grateful for you! I was able to fix my dryer and have a peace of mind again. Thank you for taking the time and make this video! You are a blessing! 😉😀
Thank you! This is exactly what happened to my dryer! Now I can easily fix it thanks to you! You're the best!

Omg! Thank you so much!. I found the problem within 15 minutes. Ordered the part and it will be here tomorrow. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Thanks for making this. Saved me some money. Found part locally, so didn't have to wait for Amazon.
Saved me! Heard a bang while manually spinning the dryer. Of course wouldn’t start, opened up the back and noticed the loose belt but COULD NOT for the life of me find a diagram on how the good state should look like!

Thanks for video, I have one question I opened top cover and found belt is tight and by hand it rotating in this condition WHAT is issue same pully or something else. Please reply
How do you get the screw out to replace the pulley if it's stripped??
You can repair it this way, much less time consuming than tearing the dryer down from the front. However a bit of advice, lay a cloth down over the metal edges of the hole you are working through. This video was so helpful! Saved a lot of money, my spring was just off! Thank you!,,
This video saved me time and money. Thank you.
This is far the easiest fix it video! All the others you have to take it all completely apart with a ton of screws and wires to manage.
Very helpful!!!! Thank you for your expert advice and for posting this.
My dryer is Samsung DVE45M5500P/AC 120/240 5400 W is and is not spin I checked from topr cover belt is there and tight even by hand i can rotate but by force not freely. Please advise what I have to do should I change pully If yes please mention part number for the same

Thank you so much your video was right on point and you save me hundreds of dollars
Thank you 🙏 this video helped me solve my problem.
Thanks for the help. Got my dryer fixed.
If I spin in myself and starts the spin, could it be the same thing?
Very helpful your video, I was able to change the pulley by myself 👍🏻
Could that have broken after years of use or overloading the dryer? Trying to see if that can be avoided if possible.
Thank you for this video it helped me fix the dryer.
Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial!
I'm having trouble with my dryer. It's the same brand as this one but the belt isn't broken and the pullys are in place and working fine. But my dryer won't spin but it humms when I try and turn it on
Thanks for this video! The same part failed on my machine.
Nice work sir! Thanks for the helpful information 🤘
