- In this video, we unbox and review the Thunderobot G80! This controller is not yet available in the US, but should be announced/launched soon, and has a TON of great features for PC gaming.
This is my first experience with swappable thumbstick modules, and its something I hope we see more of going forward!
I've had this controller for a couple of weeks, and it's just like the machenike G6 Pro but with optical switches, a dock and shoulder buttons. The joysticks on this controller are incredibly smooth, I highly recommend this controller 😊
I think it’s closer to the g5 pro v2
Thank you for this amazing review ❤❤❤
@@hasslischx1-t6q thank you so much for the support!
This controller looks great. Definitely picking one up. Great review as always 😊
Thank you sir, appreciate the support!
Thunderobot is a partner company of machenike and they make very similar controllers and some of the parts are swappable which is really nice.
Id recommend you get a new high speed cable for the polling rate tests or update to the latest version of gamepadla because your wired connection test seems really off and a lot worse than mine was.
Do you think the machenike g5 pro v2 is better g6 pro starflash or this?
@@xXTheUknownClassXx I prefer this controller just because it has better trigger stops and it's more comfortable
@@n64slayer that's a good point!
Wish it had M1-M6 buttons like the G50s now its down to M1-M4 😞. On aliexpress it shows 2 editions elite and ultimate, what are the difference? Great review thanks for sharing i wouldn't have known they released a new controller
@@Irv- I’m going off of AliExpress listings as well, so not 100% sure if they’re accurate, but those indicate the only differences are the extra faceplate and 2 additional thumbstick modules, so the Elite would come with 4 total, and the Ultimate comes with 6.
@OldManRob13 that would be correct, def worth the extra $5
I see the Machenike controllers and i get mad , why don't they add the modules they are adverstising ?! now thunuderobot did exactly what we wanted .
the stick analyzer test , now that you tested many controllers , does it show any noticable difference between the controllers ? I have 4 controllers , Elite series 2 430, Vader 4 Pro ~900 , EeasySMX X20 ~800 , Bigbig Won Blitz 2 1150~ , all for the analog steps but only the the blitz 2 shows 10000+ program steps !! i have seen in other videos another program that shows roughly the actual bit resolution , i just couldn't find it.
Blitz2 IS the real s,hit really?
@@stevensv4864 I don't play competetive games , so maybe i am not the best person to ask , from how it feels , the aiming is a tine bit better than vader 4 pro, but vader can physically move smoother because of their self designed unique adjestable sticks, and this goes for the triggers , the V4P triggers are top notch , while Blitz2 triggers are only mouse clicks and average. and the BLitz2 has the 2000Hz polling rate that is surely synergize with high resolution TMR sensors. software wise both are top, and i use gyro to activate with the left trigger to emulate the right stick input, and here the V4P is good but the Bigbig Won is known for their good gyros and they work very good in the blitz2.
@@MonderMatrix I got roughly the same as you on the Elite 2 and X20, but the V4P shows almost 2000 for me.
I also got the weird program points on the Blitz 2, but I really don’t understand how that correlates. I’ve been working under the assumption that the analog points are what the program is actually detecting from the gamepad, so I think that’s the number that really matters.
The biggest standout for me is actually the Beitong Asura 2 Pro Nearlink. It had like 12k analog points. Just wish it did more outside of that, i.e. more than 2 rear buttons and trigger stops.
@@OldManRob13 I redid the test and made sure i am using 12 bit stick resolution on the software and the linear curve on the stick and still getting almost the same results on the V4P . but that was wireless , then i retested while wired and got 708 Analong and 1482 Program points , if the analong points matter more , i am getting less analong points when wired but more program points !
I agree that those numbers do matter , those are like when you watch TV but here more resolution means better movement around the screen.
from what i see so far generally TMR means more resolution , better polling rate seem also to allow more resolution to be used. and like Beitong Asura 2 Pro Nearlink polling is not everything to determin the quality , if i am not wrong the stick have very high input lag and many reviews speaking about quality control issues.
Great video!
@@chronicmayhem Thank you!
What do you think is better? This, or the Vader 4 Pro? Thanks
What is the resolution for the sticks? Is it 4096 like the cyclone?
Yes
I currently own the G50s, this G80 definitely feels a substantial upgrade 😎 but comes with 2x+ the price & is slightly more expensive than my Vader 3 pro.
@@fromBbong I had considered the G50 before, but glad I held off. Based on the reviews I’ve seen on it, I would agree that this is a substantial upgrade.
I understand the concerns about the price though, there are a lot of great options at this price point, including the Vader 4 Pro and the Blitz 2, but I do think there’s a market for this gamepad, as some people will prefer some of the options on this one. The Blitz 2 shape takes some getting used to, it has no tension adjustment options, and some people don’t like that there are no analog triggers. The Vader 4 is great, but I will say I don’t love their back button design, and would actually prefer this layout with the 2 rear buttons in good spots and 2 extra shoulder buttons. I’m not saying I personally would take this over either of those controllers, just that I can see some people doing so based on preference.
It's $68 right now
I wish the kept the other 2 back buttons for the 6 reprogramable buttons
@ agreed.
really like your reviews, finally got my blitz 2 from aliexpress and i have to say its very good. Feels nice in the hands (even tho it was weird at the beginning, but now i prefer this switch pro controller-ish shape to xbox one). All buttons feel VERY good to click, except once again im not a fan of ABXY buttons since they feel very similar to what vader 4/3 pro and t4k has
@@Gundemonium Thank you! And glad you got the Blitz 2 and like it!
I’ve been using it more and more lately…more than the Vader 4 currently. I’m the same as you, really took me some time to get used to the different shape, but I love it now!
I think i still prefer Cyclone 2 over this.
@@mailsibul I think the Cyclone 2 performs well, but I personally would use the G80 over it for the thumbsticks tension and the extra top buttons. I still feel only 2 additional inputs on the Cyclone 2 was a huge miss.
I would need to know the latency before buying any controller. High polling rate is great but not the whole story.
@@NeightrixPrime GPDL devices aren’t the whole story, either. I’m not saying I know the answer, but polling rate does matter, and Elite Series 2 controllers do not have better (or even marginally close to the same) latency as Flydigi/GameSir/BigBig Won controllers in practice.
This controller has one of the best wired connections on any controller at 1ms exactly and 0.03ms jitter. As for input delay it has 10-12ms stick latency and 6ms button latency.
Can you as wellperhaps add an extra 30 seconds per video on the dpad doing fighting game inputs like a dragon punch?
@@TheReal_FishFins sigh…I meant to. Did it like 2 reviews ago, and actually reinstalled some old school fighting games just so I COULD do that, and it slipped my mind. Will try to remember moving forward!
does it have hall effect triggers ?
@@Gigamaxsus It does, yes. Sorry if I didn’t mention that in the video. I should have.
@ thank you
Nice from you that you reply to peoples comments not many people do that
@@Gigamaxsus thanks, I try! That was one of the big reasons I started the channel. Often times if people didn’t say something I wanted to know, I couldn’t get an answer about it.
Obviously it’s easier for me since my channel is small, but I hope to keep it up regardless.
@ i wish you luck
@@Gigamaxsus Thank you!
Can it wake the pc up from sleep?
is it as small as it looks?
@@TheReal_FishFins I’m…not sure? How small does it look? lol.
It’s very similar to the size of a Xbox Series controller, about the same as the GameSir Cylcone 2 and Kaleid, so feels a bit bigger than their G7 controllers, or the X20. Hope that helps.
Id say it's about the size of a standard xbox controller
Is it available through Ali express?
Yes.
@@Snoarlax89 Yeah, that’s where I purchased. It’s been on there for awhile now, kinda surprised it hasn’t launched or been announced in the US yet.
@OldManRob13 can you link which store you got it from?
@ It’s listed tons of places. I can share which one I used, but to be clear I just picked one with good reviews. This is my first purchase from that seller, and though I had no issues, that’s a very small sample size. So I’m not promoting or guaranteeing this seller…I think Ali Express is always a risk, just due to the nature of so many sellers and items coming from overseas. Just my two cents.
I just found this on AliExpress: $103.95 | Thunderobot G80 Ultimate Gamepad Wired/2.4G/Bluetooth Tri-Mode For NS Xbox Quad Motor Hall Joystick Custom Gaming Controllers
