I covered almost 70 Details from TLOU2 back in 2020 and with the release of the remaster I figured it'd be nice to do a little recap of 10 of my favourites.

The thing that surprised me the most out of these is that you can air assassinate enemies lol, had no idea that was a thing

Yeah it’s a detail literally carried over from uncharted 4, it’s so fun to do.
They took the same detail that was introduced in Uncharted 4, but in a better way

Amazing. The blood being more than just a simple decal and interacting physically with the environement is incredible. I’d love for things like that to be in more games.

Bro, the majority of the work is done by animators. Mocap doesnt to the job for you, it's just a tool

Naughty are the pinnacle. Remember AC 3? The animations that fit there time were incredible? The animation director from that game got hired by naughty dog straight after. Believe it or not it takes talent to make animation that's great. A tracking suit and a few dots is never going to give you a perfect result.
@@doopydoody4809 Bro i know that its not the only tool but important one too, motion capturing is the foundation and the animation artist do their finishing on it, have you played L.A. Noire, that game was revolutionary according to its time, i don't think so any other games has used the same technology as that game did, its like same as a mobile phone, you can use the top of the line hardware for it but if your software is not optimised, the hardware cannot be used to its full potential.

Here's a few for you
1. Melee attacking a standard enemy (human and runner) with a brick (in hand, not thrown) will kill them in one hit where as a bottle won't (if you find and hit them with a second bottle that will then kill them)
2. When upgrading the revolver at the workbench, Ellie will drop out all the bullets from the cylinder, but if you upgrade the revolver's reload time which involves her reloading the cylinder via a speed loader and then go to apply another upgrade to the revolver, she'll empty out the cylinder again (I believe this is the only weapon where this occurs)
3. Both Ellie and Abby have unique aggressive combat voice lines when they reach low health, intended to be an indicator when playing without HUD
4. Setting off trap mines will cause nearby glass bottles to break but not bricks
5. After getting the gas can from the dome, the nozzle will stick out of Ellie's backpack
The brick one doesn't work in TLOU2. That's a TLOU1 feature only.

I also appreciated the fact they added reflection to small things like metal tea kettles and household appliances in Joel’s house. You can actually see Ellie’s silhouette in them.
I think the cool thing about Abby's shoulder jiggle is that its a result of the fall she takes in the snow during the first ever mission you play as her. from then on she touches it occasionally throughout the whole game and from the jiggle, the fall seems to have left a noticeable effect :)
My favourite thing is when Shamblers explode and you can see an aura of spores latching onto surrounding surfaces. Beautiful and terrifying.
In Grounded mode enemies can hear you reloading.

Sometimes they hear u in lower difficulties too
I believe they can hear you crafting and switching weapons as well.
They hear you reload, swap and craft, but also clickers work differently. In grounded if you were behind an object, and its clicks in your direction then after you go to move behind something else but stop in the open as it clicks again it will come after you as it knows that something has moved in the environment and only something alive would do that. In lower difficulties if you stop before it clicks again when out in the open they ignore you. Also on grounded if you throw a brick or bottle to distract enemies and they see where it was thrown from thewy will attack because thewy saw it get thrown lol.
One neat detail I saw, was when Abby gets butted in the head by Tommy, in the next cut scene, after she pushes him in the water, she has a huge bruise on her forehead.
Breathing through the nose and mouth didn’t know they had animations for that, so insane.
Damn, that edit ending was… oof.
I’ll never get over this story. This game changed my life in so many ways
Naughty Dog's attention to detail never ceases to amazes me, all their games are real good especially the uncharted saga
Another detail to note is when you're interrogating Nora in the hospital for Abby's whereabouts, you can hear the Rat king roar, it's kinda cool to know that was happening at the same time, Abby was literally under Ellies nose

Dude, the blood going into the lowest crevaces in whatever the ground is made of, AND even melting the snow... 🤯🤯🤯
If you look down from high up space as Abby you’ll see the ground is getting further from your screen because Abby has acrophobia, you can also see she’s getting nervous if you look down

For real, that was a perfect apportunity for a strike
But I get it, it’d suck big time if the player had to engage in combat cuz the NPC fucked up
The human enemies will beg you for mercy if you disarm them with the shotgun
The last detail is just so, so, so sad.
Going with the first part about Ellie's arm getting scrapped, I noticed after punching people/zombies a bunch, Abby's knuckles would get sore and bloody
I will always acknowledge and value the steadfast consistency and genuine nature of this particular content. ❤
in Santa-Barbara Abby travels with Owen's backpack (you can see it in prologue, Abby's flashbacks and in Seattle's aquarium) and his revolver (Owen showed it during Joel's execution), before she lost all ammunition at the Scar Island. in the theater she is armed with a Mel's gun
The blood flowing on the snow was really amazing

you have to consider that rockstar makes mostly open world games where not every detail can be as deliberate

A small detail when Jesse says to Ellie you come from the east. When giving directions to find Joel and Tommy It actually is a reference bcoz Ellie is the light. Her name meaning is light. And the fireflies says that whenever in darkness look for the light. It means Ellie is the light and the cure. In this whole game Ellie is the light. She is the immune girl she is the cure. So when Jesse was giving directions and he told Ellie to go to east direction it is like the sun rises in the east and she is that light Unfortunately it was over there😢 Even in HBO series when Joel, Ellie Tess were eating Ellie was highlighted under the sunlight and many times in the game and series she has been referred to the light.

Allies getting spotted was a thing in the original. For me Jesse got spotted and said he stuffed up.

Look at the blood on Ellie’s shirt in 6:22 how it spreads and moves throughout her sleeve.
I saw Joel’s book on space before and it broke my heart
Other thing with the bottles is that the animation, before when pressing square u would just smash it now the animation the characters on use flips the bottle and then smash it hitting the enemy with the More rounded part.

another insane detail i heard was that when after joel's death and ellie goes into his with dina and looks around joel is looking down at his daughter instead of looking straight at the camera when the photo is looked at closely showing how proud is he of his daughter's achievement in her sport

Apart from Rockstar with RDR2 no other game developers put this level of detail into crafting their world. Everything just makes sense and work as you’d expect but must require such an immense amount of work. I doubt we’ll see another game like this before Naughty Dogs next game or GTA VI

I miss blood splatters appearing gradually like they did in the first game. ND abandoned it somehow later on and now they just pop up.
On my first gameplay, I discovered that Dina was pregnant after Joel’s death, she touched her belly when ellie wasn’t around her

I only just found out after playing the game for 3 years that shooting an enemy in the leg stuns them like hitting them with a brick.

i've thought of a couple things to make these games better.
what when you get a game over it showed a paragraph of how the story would continue after that game over.
another thing i'm surprised they haven't done yet would be if the enemy ran out of ammo like you do all the time and what if you could talk your way out of some situations.
OK the game over part would work on the grounded mode since you get only 1 life it'd be perfect. Hell rockstar did that in the warriors video game in 2005 and the lady on the radio tells you what happens afterwards if you die.
Naughty Dog out here competing with Rockstar for the most immersive games
