There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando
Very nice, I mentioned this during your live show and I saw two 6.5s hit 114 and this went past that at around 115-116 average with a high of 118. I might consider these for my 2017 silverado now thanks
Loved this video. Keep it up guys! Never considered a 6.5" at all to be honest.
I hadn't either until i saw 4 of these very subs in a car and i thought the guy was lying.
These 2 guys are so much fun to watch in videos like this.
I have 4 of them in my chevy Silverado and they sound amazing. Get really good lows and put out on all types of music
What’s the volume of the box?
@@808kea808 i can't remember i know we had issues with the spec from the skar subs. I had a local builder do the box and lined and we had a designer map out the box it
Where did you order your box to get them in your Silverado? I'm looking myself.
@@TheDogcatchersito had it custom build at a local shop
I had a similar experience with my 98 Nissan Altima I had 2 8" P2 Fosgates powered by the t400 and the t 600 x4 running my Highs. OH dear It was IMPRESSIVE
I trying to order that box and they were always out of stock 😭. But my next box will be three 8’s. I still like that box.
Little monster!! The box seems big but the right box can always make or break how a subwoofer sounds.
I actually have these subs in my Pontiac GTO mounted in the rear deck and they are surprisingly good. Granted the subs aren't designed for free air use, they still sound great and have just enough clearance in the depth so the magnet doesn't hit the gas tank brace in the trunk.
Are you for real?
Was thinking of getting a pair for my cosmos purple 04 gto but been stressing they wouldn't fit
Are you using stock amp inside left rear quarter?
Lots of 6.5s being produced now. Looking forward to some DD506’s myself
J Cook I have that in my Yukon bumps good
Buddy has 4 of the DD 6.5's on his truck its sick.
i wish i had a 6.5 subwoofer this coming christmas 👏🎁💖
@@Hardbodyfragrance you can give me sir?
Can these be used in a down firing, under seat box? I have a '97 Suburban. I use the cargo area on a regular basis, so i can't but a box in the back. I want to put a box under the middle row, but there isn't a lot of room under there. Any suggestions?
I am about to get two of them for my truck. I just need a little more fullness to the music and don't really need to"bump" anymore. For the price of two of these and an amp its mind blowing. I have watched a lot of tests on Skar stuff and it seems the only thing cheap is the price. And btw...I am an old installer(10 years) and ex brand junkie who used to think the only way to get quality stuff was to spend a lot of money.
I've been pondering 4 of these to replace my 2-10" subs. If 4 will fit under the back seat of my truck....
Look at the Life of Bass channel. Somebody has six of them in a full size GM work truck.
Good morning. Test a Sundown 6.5 next
And a 500watt micro amp
I picked up a 12" Skar in a rhino lined Q-bomb box from you guys. It's loud, like piss off the car in front of you loud 😄
You posted a video awhile ago of 2 of the same kind of subs in a custom box and them seem to hit harder to bad you can't meter them just to compare box design
Also when you guys tune cars the speakers are not broke in .do the customer's experience more bass in their system after a week
shawnkarvonen umm, yes
I've got a G35 I have two zv5 10's and a scv 4k it beats so hard but they r so hard to build for the trunk opening is a night mare
They seem powerful for 6.5. Subwoofer. They were definitely vibrating the car
They do amazing i have my 4 wired to 1 ohm and 1000 watt Memphis on them ad they do great
THAT'S WUSSUP... NICE & STRAIGHT TO THE POINT...
I was looking at these but the XMax turned me off on them. Instead, I got 4 Massive Audio Summo 6.5s powered by the 800 watt Skar amp. Hit's surprisingly hard and very clean. I would really like to see a side by side comparison of the Summo and the EVL
GTX6.5 is a monster
In a world where everybody on the comment list is a 6.5 expert.......BOOM mind-blowing!! lol XD
Great video!
But who is FRENANDO? 0:08
lol, I had one of those in a MINI, except I had the triple stacked magnet little sub from them. Nothing but good thing to say about their subs.
CT sounds Meso 6.5 is another little monster
I've been pleased with my Meso 8"
The dual EVL-65 in vented enclosure with RP-350.1D bass package is about the same price as the rockford fosgate P300-12. Which is the better set up for the money?
The qts is low, but I'd wonder how this does in infinite baffle. I've two pyramid w64 in my rear panels, and they fill the gap between midrange and sub lows excellently.
What amp would you recommend for a pair of these subs ?
My question is what is the impedance of the box? Is it at 2 ohms or 1 ohm??
Was Fernando in the Air Force?? Salute!
Long Live theLab!!!!
Excelente caja! Buen desempeño!!.. Saludos 👍
I will be in Destin area this summer. When can I make an appointment to get speakers and amp installed? BTW I am in California.
I run a 6 bazuka bass tube and it sounds great! Power by a pc225 or an ssl mini amp depending on my mood!!!
Just for the record, the button on the right that says "HOLD" if you press that then it automatically stores your peak decibels 😋
I know this is an old video, but just recently found the 5 star channel. But nothing like responsible parents with 118dB stereo and kids car seat in the back. Quality choices in life.
Did you not watch the full video or do you have no comprehension on what they are doing here? He explains that this is the car they use to test equipment and was just showing what this equipment is capable of. I bet his kids turn out better than yours.
What do you think of Skar DV 8" and how can I get a shallow mount box
Think you could mount these in the rear doors of an f150 crew cab?! :)
Should lay the the back seat down see what it does! Just curious I know when my seats down my little jbl is tons louder. Sure other audio heads know this as well lol
But it compromises the sound... With the rear seat down everything sounds ugly
That is not the way.. You can port the output from the box into the cabin.
the dd sw6.5 is the pinnacle of 6.5 woofers
This is the truth and the way!!
You should test out some Wolfram audio equipment!
Dam that sub slaps good i always thought the bigger the better
I have a single 10 MTX Thunder 8000 DVC 4 ohm feeding it about 500 watts RMS and it's plenty loud. People often think I have two 12s back there.
Where did this box come from? I don’t see it on skars website
pretty interesting....but that's a decently large box so wouldn't a single 12" be better?
That’s what I’m thinking. Good question
Depends on the quality of the product and the enclosure design
I bought them and built a tline for them and sounds 2x louder. Sounds like 2 10s in a ported box on 300 watts
uh that's not how it works. 2x 6.5 speakers does not equal a 13" speaker.geezus, learn some math.
@@vincentb4925 yeah, you're way wrong. Area of a 6.5 diameter sub is about 33 inches, or 66 inches for a pair. Area if a 12" sub is about 113 inches or nearly double. Simple math. Area of a circle is pi * radius squared.
that thing is massive
Was gonna buy one. But can't find em. Thinking Kicker Cerwin Vega Audiopipe DS18 and Skar. What do y'all think? Gonna add a 6.5" sub where my 6x9 cutout is in my 05 Sable.
Compare that to the sundown 6.5’s and the Massive Audio hippo64xl’s
i just got a pair of the evl 6.5s going in a sierra crew cab have not installed yet going in a ported 1.4 cf box ported at 40 hz under back seat what is your take on the subs
can you use this subwoofer for a replacing 2 dead junk woofers on cerwin vega box? or is this a crazy idea?
would this be a good purchase if I just got a single one to add some oomf to my speakers because the speakers I'm running have nice base I just want a little extra
Homie has gloves on his feet 😂
Those skars are great, but give the sundown x6.5 a try, or one of those hippo 6.5's great speakers also.
What do they sell for please comment back I have a Chevy S10 pickup extended cab I would like to get one in a single Box
I don't find them online?? Can you share Url?
Are they available didn’t see them on their website
Seems like a large enclosure for 2 6’s but 118db is impressive for their size
Steven Mondazzi not at all. Ronnie Smith is doing right at 150 on a single 6.5” sub. Facebook search Ronnie Smith Sniper Box
@@lunchboxbailey his is tuned for spl, 1 note and that's all. 118 however is very low but you also need to take in to account that this is a prefab enclosure designed for daily listening and is under powered quite a bit. Also the mic is in the center between the seats which will be lower then if it were 6in over and 4in up from bottom right corner of the windshield for legal spl runs.
My apologies, I was mistaken. The 152 is at peak tuning frequency- but on music it’s “only” 144. And you are absolutely correct, there is a slight difference in response in a legal windshield position versus the readings at the gear shift position. I’m fairly certain you will likely see an improvement further into the windshield but doors open or closed may yield different results as well. Look into sealed dash scores as that’s what most SPL organizations use as a basic apples to apples comparison. I do catch most of your videos and like seeing some of the more basic “real world” installs so keep it up.
144 on music is a very good score. And yes some vehicles are louder opened up over sealed.
Why did Skar stop selling the 65 in dual config? I don't get it. This was a homerun because of its size.
6 1/2 crazy
I love my EVL 12's
Do they hit clean?
I have 1 15 skar audio on kicker 1100w I hit 142 spl
I want to know how much the SPL goes up once they're broken in can you guys doing other test in a week
So what are they 6inch or 6.5.?
where can I get this? I want it for my mini cooper
The fact is that the sub stop sellling due to the dinky spade jacks.
I have two of them in the closet "literally" with a broken terminal.
The plastic, yes plastic spade terminals break like nothing.
those Skar subs for a 6.5" are impressive. but just to throw it out there. if they need such a big box why not just go single 10" or even 12 ? if they didnt need such a big box id get it.
When I had my Blazer I was rockin two 12's. Now that my car trunk space is much smaller, my subs sit in storage. I was measuring my available space and a 6.5" is the best I can squeeze in and still have a trunk. I don't want to spend big bucks on something that will never match my 12's, but I want to feel satisfied when I turn it up. All my research led me here.
1.2 cf is not big at all. How many 12" s are you getting into that space? If you do they won't sound good. Look don't worry about it, if you like big woofers, taking up all your available hatch or trunk space, well for one thing that proves how young you are. For another your taste will change when you get older and you'l find you can get just as loud with smaller drivers, which opens you up to a wider range of music as well.
@@JakkiPi This seems like its perfect for your application
@@dj4monie Agreed. A 10' or 12' box would be double that size, hence not very space saving.
@@HighVybeTribe my dual 10 sealed box is only total 1.06ft³. Very small. Running 2 older infinity Reference 10s.
Will this box fit on the shelf of a crown vic trunk?
Can i replace my 6.5 door speakers with these instead of infinite baffle mounting a subwoofer in my rear deck?
Seems like from my research that it performs better when it's port tuned. I imagine it would cause too much door rattle.
Memphis Mojo 6.5 is a savage
Would these subs fit in the door of a 2016 f150 super crew
300watts to 400 watt rms subs? 200 x2
will a Skar Audio RP-2000.1D over power this 6.5 sub? dont know much but i got 2 skar 12 ddx d-4 and i dont want that big ol box in my trunk anymore want to go with something smaller lmk plz
Could I put 4 in the rear deck of a 2001 740IL ? I want to replace the 4 stock 6.5 subs
Wow!!
I hear their little 6.5 subs eat some power to really get them going.
Would like to see a comparison between their box and the one your friend built that you already did a video on.
83 db @ 1w/1m yes they use a fair amount of power. That is the cost of a heavy motor assembly to get long excursion.
If you like 6.5s, check out massive audio summo or hippoxl line. They're much beefier and similar priced
GTX is awesome to
Whats the rms and max on those?
Summo is rated at 150/300 and hippo is 300/600. The summo is underrated in my experience. I think they underrated them to separate them from the hippo line. From what I've seen. Power handling for both aren't too far away
Can I put these in the back seat of my car, where the midwoffers go
I’m not too impressed with my two ELV 6.5s. I have them in a ported box. 1.5 ft3 tuned to 40 hertz on a Skar RP-800. They sound ok. It’s hardly loud at all, even with the cabin gain.
me personally i was thinking about getting some 2 skar vvx-8v3's for my honda crx as i have limited space and gotta keep some room in the back for groceries haha
ronnie cason you would be happy with ether of the two.
If you go 8” the SQ is amazing 😉 and you would fall in love with one ☝️ if you don’t have space. 2 8” required box some what big. The 6.5 man for what they are. They can play low.
well the thing is that what im planning on doing is making a custom amp rack where the cargo bin sits right now and ive found a pre made box that fits the requirements for air volume needed for a ported box that skar specifies for the vvx-8's and if leaves me with enough room to get groceries. my biggest thing is that i wanna make sure that i get something im happy with the first time around
ronnie cason ok if you want to be very loud is not going to enough. Bout if you looking for a good sounding bass for your self in car. You will be happy. I did 2 6.5” on a hatch back and it was impressive.
I did one scalade with one 8” man sounds so f...,,, clean and fills it very well. Also did one 8” for a civic and guy was super happy. So with that being said. I think you will be happy.
thats what im talking about now its time to start buying all the parts needed starting with a higher output alternator i dont think 60 amps is going to be enough to push 2 of those vvx-8's
ronnie cason have fun my friend on your build.
Try 2 8" elvs those slap
can i put this in rear door? will it sound good?
Wondering what song is being played
Surface area of the cones is important
Thank you guys have a nice day with a great job
And excursions.
“There’s no replacement for displacement “
Cool. Is that the smallest subwoofer u can currently get?? Or do they make smaller ones??
That's about the smallest I've seen. Digital Designs, SKAR, Sundown, JL, and Massive (2 models) are all making them right now. Probably some other brands too
Do a video on the vxf
Ok i need help i just got two new skar 15s and i dont want to blow them and want it to sound good can u help me set it up with some advice. specs are as fallow

Why would you do dual 6.5 when a single 12 fits in roughly the same space and has about triple the cone area?
What?!
@@billypfromtheo5115 each 6.5 is 33 sq inches for a total of 66. A single 12 has 113 sq inches. So I guess saying double would be more appropriate. Still, surface area is everything in low freq drivers, I would much rather have a 12.
@@osheathedj I follow you now, for some reason I read it as voice coil not cone area. That's what I get for doing more than one thing at once
@@billypfromtheo5115 the cone is bigger meaning louder and deeper
What are the dems of the port?
Do u make custom ported boxes i need one for a 15
10k Rms check out Turbulent Designs on Facebook/Instagram. I’ve had them make me a custom enclosure for 2 P3D4-10’s and I’m waiting on one for a EVL12. Great workmanship.
Og Scythe thanks man i dont have a face book or instgram i am kind of old school i guess any other way to get a hold of him
I wonder how low it gets.
SMOKE EM!!!! YEAH BABY....💨💨💨
Why Nando hiding in the left corner lol
how can i get a empty box
SQ not SPL!!
No matter what you say, SPL sells.....I'm an SQ competitor.
If you got back to your roots, I bet subs got most everyone in to this game.
@@justinmurphy2227 Of course it did and then like all SQ guys we realized that front stage is everything. This brings up a good subject though, how about old school vs new school comparisons in the lab (Fernando's car). I've got some NIB Orion/ADS Millenium 2 ohm mids and ADS PX concept tweeters I'd love to see Dean install for an a/b test.. I've even got a Boston Pro 12.5LF (2 ohm) that I can throw in to make it official.
@@bbchester6 that's some great sounding stuff there my friend !!!
How do i get one these boxes to Puerto Rico zip 00612
DANG !!!!
Only 1 expert ronnie Smith doing 150db on a single 6.5
Has anyone replaced the stock bose sub in gm trucks with something like this?

💗 Heck yea cute little things.
So cool boys. I live in the apartments right behind you. Il be bugging you to do an install in my 95 camry soon. Yes i said 95 shits old af😂 but its clean
