    I’m from North Caucus, same region where Khabib is from. And many guys who used to train with him when his father was still alive, say that his father would make Khabib wrestle and grapple five guys, one after the other, until they all would get tired and could not wrestle anymore. And this was happening way before Khabib got in UFC

    Khabib’s mental toughness is also incredible. His fight with Conor was arguably the biggest in combat sports history, and the crowd was super pro-Conor. Khabib was never before exposed to that kind of worldwide attention and facing the biggest star. It amazed me how he was able to stay calm and composed throughout that entire fight week as well as the fight itself. One of Khabib’s videographers mentioned on the Joe Rogan podcast that Khabib was chilling backstage facetiming his father right before that fight, showing no signs of nervousness.

    • @xDinomanx

      Not just that but when Khabib told the crowd that he was gonna "Smash your boy." He meant that quite literally. After he won by choking out Conor, he still wanted to keep going. Conor had said and done a lot of nasty shit towards Khabib in the lead up to the fight too (i.e. insulting his father and attacking the bus he and other fighters were on). Khabib didn't just want to beat Conor, he wanted to humiliate and destroy him.

    In my opinion, Khabib's greatness relies on his pace and cardio. He fought every fight as if each fight lasted 10 seconds. He pursued his opponents the entire fight.
    Moreover, in his grappling, instead of going for the submission, he went to block positions to ground and pound first, like instead of looking for a choke, he used all of his strength and technique to block positions and unleash the pounding. You can tell that Khabib was very comfortable with just punching or elbowing people waaaaay before trying a submission, and made it look effortless.

    Firaz noticing the details to the opening sequence of Khabib vs Conor where Khabib circles halfway throughout the octagon and goes for the takedowns when Conor is controlling the distance, just shows Firaz' superb observation and Khabib's brilliant fight IQ. Don't think Khabib got even hurt against Dustin and Johnson because his defensive abilities were always somewhat awkward where he rolled with the punches moving sideways while moving backwards much similar to Cain's fighting style, which also influenced Khabib's style a lot. Anyway, Khabib's granite chin, superb cardio and high fight IQ was really something unique. He even makes the gameplans for most if his fighters according to Islam even though he does no longer do any corner work.

Look at sea level cain and DC for AKA examples but also look at Covington when he beat the crap out of Lawler or Michael Bisping. They all had this constant "get after it keep pushing the pace" behavior about them. Islam isn't really like that. He lays traps. He gets you to defend a takedown with wrestling so he can Judo you to the ground. He looks to get you boxing with him to have success then hit you with that southpaw power kick.

    You can hate me for saying this but it was obvious as the fight goes on with Khabib and Justin, Khabib was slowing down from the leg kicks and by the last one he went for the shoot, he couldn’t bare much more leg kicks. Not a panic shot as it was super calculated still, but he shot because he knows he can’t take much more of those

    imo Makhachev' toughness is no less, its different kind of toughness but no less, fighting Volkanovski, an elite mma fighter at his home turf with all kind advantages he had, with the lack of sleep, f up RT, whole crowd etc is outstanding, if anyone ever train or spar, try to do that with such conditions, let alone high level championship fight, Khabib is an extrovert kind of toughness, Islam is an introvert one, fire and water...

    I dont even form opinions unless someone has defended their belt more than six times. Khabib is Rousey tier to me. He found an exploit to the meta of the time. More power to him, and more power to Rousey.
    But no one is more tough than someone who consistently defends their belt and evolves with the game.

    I was just thinking this last night. I watched khabib vs Justin. On the feet George is so much better then khabib. Khabib is sloppy. He walks through punches. Doesn't care about getting hit. Takes kicks and ignores them. His wrestling is astounding obviously. But after watching that fight I came to the conclusion he had the best fighting spirit I've ever seen. He's like a weird zombie....he just attacks u....waits for opportunity. Some fighters say...I'm ready to die in the ring. They don't actually mean it tho...even if they think they do. He meant it....to beat him you'd literally have to kill him.

    • @AlexanderCollis
      @AlexanderCollis 5 месяцев назад +1

      Everyone is so scared of his takedown all he has to do is feint a level change and his opponents are thinking about it and reacting haha. It gives him slack for not being the best striker cos that takedown is always on their mind. Especially against Justin he looked tired after round 1 backpedaling thinking a level change is coming. I think his striking is decent and unorthodox I wouldn’t say sloppy

    • @MrRaptormatt
      @MrRaptormatt 5 месяцев назад +1

      @AlexanderCollis true...but no one's ever said...khabib has great striking. Even his takedown game is very subpar. George's was way better. It's his wrestling...he will get u down eventually...cause u can't knock him out and u can't break his will. If he was a great striker...and had unreal takedown like George he'd be the greatest of all time

    • @AlexanderCollis
      @AlexanderCollis 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrRaptormatt his wrestling in mma like you said is bar non the best ever, damaging ground and pound aswell as slick submissions makes him the greatest of all time imo. If he doesn’t take you down the first time he’ll try n try again until you’re on the back in if he backs u up to the fence n shoots chances are you’re getting took down who could stop it except from roided abel and iquenta for a few shots? for me the top 3 goats are Khabib, GSP, Fedor .

    • @MrRaptormatt
      @MrRaptormatt 5 месяцев назад +1

      @AlexanderCollis I cannot argue with those 3. I love George...I'm a Canadian he's a hero of mine. But fedor...that's one guy that people forget unfortunately. Of every fighter that's ever fought that's the one guy no one would wanna fight in his prime. He was a wrecking ball. Plus he was skilled...highly skilled. His quickness was outrageous. I mean forget pound for pound....no sane man would wanna fight him.

    29-0. Never in trouble. And the only thing any one has to say is "He was feeling those calf kicks". Anyone not thinking he is the GOAT think about that when your watching Jones vs Reyes or GSP vs Hughes, Serra or Hendricks. If either of those guys or even Silva cut to 155 it would be more of the same. Don't kid yourself.

    Coach, I disagree regarding Islam. To go 5 rounds when you're under hydrated by 2 kilos of fluids before the fight is phenomenal. That win, in my opinion, was more impressive than his second win against Volks, simply for that reason only. The second fight was a no-brainer; islam at full-strength will walk through just about anyone in his division.
