Dagestani fighters prove again and again how powerful and impactful the basics are. Nothing crazy, nothing new, just the old school rules. Khabib even tells his plan months before his every fight and does exactly what he said. Every opponent knew what's gonna happen, but still, no one survived it.

except the way the americans talk about it is just so fake given how amateurish they look when fighting them. those guys are so technical their is nothing just basics about them. everyone has the basics but they are on a different level all together.

I've seen some footages of Khabib working with guys in his Dagestan Gym. He seemed very attentive to what each individual brings into the group. He is old school like his dad, they want to see how much you know to decide what you still need to learn. So Khabib telling Belal plainly to 'get up' without specific instructions might be one way to gauge many things about Belal like how developed his techniques are, 'problem-solving' or fight IQ level and the state of his fighting mentality at that moment. Khabib might not have known enough about you guys then so he wanted to see how you respond to the challenge 'get up'. Seeing that he's welcomed you into his circle just goes to show he liked what he saw in Belal. Congrats and goodluck on your future fights Coach.
P.S. Many people begrudge the value of control time in mma but the way I see it, it is rightfully considered an offensive weapon if the opponent shows no ability and/or strength to fight back. Most people would probably say it should only be conisidered if damage was made, there's point to that.. but then what should be done to reward the fighter on top, because surely the will, strength and skill to keep that position warrants it... what should be done to recognize the failure to regain control of the fighter at the bottom knowing that in any combat sport, physical autonomy is a minimum requirement.
