- A few days ago there was a PS5 Pro leak, this is how PC Gamers reacted to seeing those nice little upgrades coming to The PS5 Pro, sadly the performance uplift ends about until the CPU is revealed to be a Zen 2 Architecture that made a debut in 2019

I have PC more powerfull than 99% of commentators here, but I would say that PS5 Pro will continue having more great games than PC has, that's the sad true. I prefer playing on my 4090, but PC doesn't have both new FF's, Ragnarok, won't have new GTA 6 etc. So such posts are pretty petty. PS5 has same amount of new AAA-titles and more of it + exclusives (some will be released on PC, but after YEARS, which is a lot)
And PS5 games look better than PC ones simply because PC doesn't have those games (aka Horizon Forbidden West, even though it's coming to PC soon)

Your Intel hd graphics don't even hold a candle to the PSP. What are you talking about? This shit will make it even harder to play games on PC.
10% faster CPU in some special cases in high frequency mode.
That may not be enough to offset the increase in Ray Tracing that likely will be added to PS5 Pro games. RT is heavy on CPU as well, and even with RT off in a performance mode, 10% increase in clocks on the same CPU is not going to translate to 10% increase in CPU performance. It'll be single digits. I actually don't mind and I don't think consoles need to be 60 fps unless they are fast paced multiplayer 1st person shooters. For 3rd person single player cover shooters like PlayStation seems to almost exclusively pump out, 30 or 40 fps is good enough.
Imo it's ok because it's definitely an excuse to allow more power for GPU.
That's pretty much running the CPU at desktop Zen 2 speeds. Not gonna make that much of a difference especially for 4k/60fps and RT.

The base PS5 used Zen 2. Mid console refreshes use the same core architecture for their CPU as the base model. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X both used the Jaguar cores found in the base models.

If the PS5 used Zen 3, existing games would have to be rewritten for a whole new architecture and future ones would have to be written for two completely different architectures.

@@maskedlibrarian1483
But seriously, if the CPU was anything newer than a ZEN 2 then it would be a PS6. Same story with the PS4 pro. Same cpu, slightly higher clock speed. The opposite would be even crazier, if Sony gave it a ZEN3+ cpu and insisted on still calling it a PS5 pro. That wouldnt make any sense.
Wow, PC was already ahead before it even released! Seriously tho, the PS5 Pro has to feel like one if not the most pointless upgrade for a console in history!
As a PC gamer with no console, I don't understand why people complain that it uses old CPU while it obtains better performance that many of us with newer components. Why don't we complain that the PRO should have been the only ps5 version form the beginning instead of ignoring all improvements just because is old tech.

@@mitsuhh that'd make sense but they need to rethink the APU as the only option going forward the console market will need to evolve so it's not only CPU/GPU until they become strong enough to rival discrete GPUs. The cost will rise but you'll have a console that could Infact lastore then 1-2 years.
And then they'd end up with a console that would cost close to 1000USD, no one's paying 1000USD on a Console as it's close to the price of a mid range PC while having all of the drawbacks from a Console.
Companies have experimented with expensive consoles in the past, like the early days on the PS3, the Sega Saturn, the 3DO and the Phillips CD-I, and they all failed miserably! The PS3 only started to succeed once it became a lot cheaper.
The console market is geared towards people who don't wanna spend a lot on hardware while not minding spending more on the long run, then there is the fact that GPU performance makes a lot more difference for gaming, the few exceptions being games that are often related to the PC gaming segment like Civilization, XCOM, Cities Skylines, Kerbal Space Program or Tropico.
Also the 5800X3D only came out in 2022 and it's launch MSRP was almost as high as the PS5s MSRP, not to mention that having replaceable GPUs would make optimization even harder as devs would have to adjust games for even more pieces of hardware with different performance levels, and the base models would just end up being relegated to lower tier experiences like what happened with the XONE and PS4 once the PS4 Pro and XONEX showed up.

Maybe ps5 pro cpu is slow, but console will be expensive instead.
Considering the life cycle of components, costs to play online, the mid nature of console hardware. It's pretty even with $1200~ PC. And raytracing is a nice to have but practically not worth is right now since most GPUs (even consoles) rely on upscaling to get around the memory and processing requirements for modern resolutions. And you can use a PC for things other than games. Consoles tend to be outdated by the time they release compared to a PC with newer, and even lower end specs.
I had a PS4 and have an XBox S right now and only to play The Show. But that'll be on PC in a few years I'm sure.

@@TheSolidSnakeOil As someone who jumped from Xbox and PS4 to PC about 7 years ago, gaming on console is significantly more expensive, and it gets more expensive the more games you buy.
The resale value for PC components 4 years after they released seems to be around 40% to 50% from my experience, then there is the fact that you get to keep your library, the complete lack of a need for subscriptions, prices being significantly cheaper for anything that isn't brand new games, long time durability of PC accessories compared to console accessories (Potentiometer based analog sticks on 70USD controllers is a f*cking disgrace! Third party controllers are the way to go), and the fact that people need to have PCs anyway.
Most people already spend 400USD on cheapo desktops, if you cut that out in practice you'd spend between 1200 and 1300USD on a good mid range PC when you'd have to spend 800USD on a console + cheap PC to do a lot less.

Yeah, ps5 gpu is weak and the cpu is pretty powerful, cuz a good cpu is cheap. Rx 6900 performance will not be bottlenecked by a zen 2 cpu, especially in 4k.
Not only the "weak" cpu kills it, but the 16gb shared memory aswell. It will be a stuttery mess.
I find it fascinating that the jump from the ps3 to the ps4 was from 256mb to 8gb and they just doubled it this gen. FF7 Rebirth has a lot of low res textures and sometimes some that don't render to an acceptable level at all

Already had plans of replacing my ps5 with the pro version. But due to its hardware issues and the fact that I don't even have an 8k TV anyways, I'm happy with 4k 120 FPS tbh.
The bigger problem in using Zen 2 is the low cache on that APU. It's only 16 MB. If they put 3D vcache on it, it would be a huge performance boost without much architecture change
I think the console version of zen 2 only has half the cache compared to pc.
Not only it have 16 MB Cache, it's split aswell, so 4 Cores CCX only have access to 8 MB at most, and a performance penalty if having to copy data from the other CCX
3d Vcache is expensive, don't forget that aspect
@@Sypingthat’s pure assumption. Plus you need to factor in the ps5 custom flash controller which is insane. It’s made purely to do heavy tasks that a cpu would traditionally do. It’s stated that its tasks would take 10 cpu cores to run.

@Mc01183 and bear in mind I moved from a PS4 Pro to the PS5.
But this time the mid-gen refresh seems really not worth it.
Although Sony didn't even officially announce it and we haven't seen footage or info of any of the actual in-game improvements and price for the system, but I predict 650€.
@Mc01183 but the thing is, for the PS5 Pro to be lower than 650€ or even 600€, Sony would have to drop the price of the standard PS5 to 425€ or lower, to justify the difference asked, which I highly doubt will happen soon.

It's a modest mid gen upgrade that's not even intended to replace the basic version of the console. Mostly to run the same games at higher res with smoother frame times. What were you guys expecting? Why would they bother with a serious CPU upgrade?
The GPU is a powerhouse because it's meant to render games in 4K and 8K in near future. Increasing game resolution doesn't impact the CPU as much as GPU. Hence the CPU they've chosen is enough. Obviously they have R&D budgets, manufacturing budgets, etc but I wouldn't say Sony or Xbox are deliberately looking to cut costs so it will be a worse experience for the end user. They're not, Apple, not yet.
Consoles are pretty efficient in terms of performance per watt, frame pacing and what they can deliver. This is not the case of the PS4 Pro still using Jaguar core which was a crippled architecture from the get-go. Zen 2 is still a solid CPU and capable of doing 120 FPS in less demanding games. On PC a Zen 2 CPU can net you 100ish FPS in games like AC: Valhalla, Hitman 3, Warzone..... 70-80 FPS in games like Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2, Plague Tale Requiem, etc at 1080p

Same cores, same architecture, same cache L1 and L2, but a massive difference with cache L3 : 3700X = 32 Mo ; 4700G = 8 Mo.
But we don't know how big is the CPU L3 from the Xbox Series and PS5 (it's the same CPU), so it might be a 3700x or 4700g.
Anyway, the CPU is customed, so it means that it could be a 3700x or 4700g bases.
Zen 2 is fine for consoles. I have a 5900x and I can run games at stock speeds without boost. I can even disable half of the cores and still run the games at 3.7GHz without issues. The only game that had a bit of stutter was with Starfield on the Capital City. I can play games with 10 to 35 watts.
Starfaild is shit tough... worst boring game of 2023
You are mistaking it for Zen 3. Ryzen 5000 series is Zen 3, and Ryzen 3000 series is - Zen 2.
That's why people are disappointed a bit.
Zen 2 biggest problem is the split in Cache and in APU configuration it's half, so you can't compare it to 5900X at all, more like a 4700G which is worse than a 3700X
The PS5 APU is custom made. It does not have the unified L2 cache as Zen 3, but also does not have a separate IO die and share ggdr6 memory with the gpu. Unlike the Xbox, the PS5 has dynamic boost. take for example The Last of Us. The Radeon 6700 beats even the 6900XT in this game due to optimization. The 6700 has the same amount of shader units as the PS5. On top of that add SAM. The zen 2 cores will be fine.

since when a zen 2 generation of cpu can bottleneck a gpu that's not that fast than a 4080 or 4090 , this might be a joke or something
I cannot see GTA6 running @60fps on PS5 pro unless there are major tweaks to the game.
The game is made only for the consoles (for its first year or two), not vice versa. If the only platform cannot run it, why would they release it? CP2077 release moment was too big for even the greedy companies to ignore.
GPU wise the ps5 is around Rx 6700 levels and from what I'm seeing from leaks and rumors the pro it's probably Rx 6750xt level or possibly 6800 level at best which is still a beefy GPU.
But if GTA 6 is gonna be anything as graphically demanding as Alan wake 2 then yes I can't see it hitting 60 atleast at 4k.

It's using RDNA4 which hasn't even been released yet, nobody knows what it's going to perform like. Your 6700xt is RDNA2 so two generation behind the PS5's GPU.
i doubt it will go well, seems only nvidia has the performance tricks down with rtx@@madmatt2024
You know what? It will play *GTA VI* day one 😆
I think people are overreacting, specially with memes clouding their minds. If Pro had a Zen 4 CPU, games would be crippled on the OG PS5, because devs would not care about optimization, and PS5 owners dont want to be treated like peasants with games struggling to run because they where developed with PS5 Pro in mind. Keeping the Zen 2 CPU will keep PS5 relevant until the end of current generation, while keeping devs humble. Also it is a plus for PC gamers as they dont need to upgrade to newest CPUs just to keep up with unoptimized games. I think it is overall a win-win.
Apart for them idiots that go and buy a Pro, when already owning a PS5. This whole mid-gen circus is pure cash grabbing.
@@drumsmoker731very hypocritical to say that, when Nvidia and Intel release half baked shit y'all flock to buy them and no one is wrong for it, so console players are idiots? You PC gamers don't deserve anything lol, y'all do nothing but shame people for gaming
@@drumsmoker731
I don't see it as that tbh.
For someone who doesn't have a post or still using the last gen consoles upgrading to the pro model is a sure bet if they got the cash.
I don't see why anyone would upgrade from their ps5 to the pro model tho, that's very dumb unless you have money lying around
In my opinion ps5 was a underwhelming product it's just that because of availability problems it was boosted a bit but since then it's kinda underwhelming. PS5 pro had to have been under powered to match ps5 but I think ps6 could be good sony are taking steps on the right direction.
(very strong problem of Zen 2 cpus are latency but people on controllers won't notice much)
"Oh my god bro... wtf man" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This upgrade is what the PS5 should have been when it came out, but well, Sony wants to sell a "new" console that probably it's going to have big limits (and i'm not just talking about the CPU...)
Anyway, i'm happy with my standard PS5, i can already imagine the price they will put to this "upgrade".
Specs-wise there's really not anything to write home about. The point is having something akin to DLSS on consoles, which *would* be worth getting excited about. I know Nvidia is (rightfully) decried on this channel, but you're lying if you say FSR 2 is in any way comparable to DLSS. Quite frankly, I don't think it's even _good,_ let alone something that should be added to console games with no way to turn it off. The PS5 Pro aims to present a better solution than FSR2 on console. If that solution works, and is adopted by developers, then I might just buy one.
The more i see console releases the more i see why PC is always better.
I’ve been saving for a PS5 but at this point I’ll just wait for the 6
The cpu limitations would be corrected performance wise if it had a intel ibm pentium 4 processor, Welcome to the future of gaming people with ps5 pro 😂
Intel IBM Pentium 4? Are you just throwing names together?
@@vigilant_1934It a name of machine name for pc's at the time in the days of early top end pc's, And the pentium 4 is the processor at the time btw, I hope it clarifies everything ? Also you can google any info.
@@vigilant_1934 no it's a real thing ☠
Bloodborne 8k 30fps ready.
Remember, you are buying these because:
1. For console exclusives
2. You are broke
3. You aren't computer literate
Said console exclusives won't even be exclusive for that long 😹
There's a good reason why console growth has been so stagnant
Still happy that my Ryzen 7 5700x is still newer than the PS5 Pro.
No matter how good the PS5 pro is, it'll never be good enough to run even 21:9, let alone 32:9. No matter how many upscalers they add, even rendering 480p Super Ultrawide destroys the console 🤣
Bro like NikTik is the spring of pure and well compiled Memes, God bless
Lol never buying it
If you look at PC ports of Sony games all of them are GPU limited around 4K even with a 4090. Why would they use a much stronger CPU when the games are GPU limited. You want them to get a CPU bottleneck harder and get no increase in performance at increased price?
After playing with a steam deck for a couple of days I can understand why Nintendo is absolutely smashing snoy and ms. It's top comfy to play on a handheld. I don't need to keep sitting in front a tv or monitor. It doesn't matter specs when you can enjoy gaming so much.
Im pretty sure my current ps5 will run gta6 on release, thats all i care about. I dont need an upgrade
What a stupid take. You guys know they couldn't have used a new CPU architecture, don't you? That would have ruined the interoperability of the consoles.
You don't need even average cpu for gaming. Only gpu and a console for 4k 120fps gaming with 500 usd is the most amazing offer. Go buy gpu for pc for 1080 120 fps. You will figure it out.
Enjoy the bottlenecking then lmfao
Me second. In today's PlayStation event we will release the ps5 and it is 2 to 3 times stronger than the ps5. The Presenter and employees trying not to tell anyone that it has a bottleneck, so it is small improvement.
A 3700X is perfectly fine even in 2024
upgrade CPU cheaper than upgrade GPU....
but Sony didn't do that.
Default scenario: upgrading GPU give more fps boost in comparison with upgrading not the worst CPU. But in that case Sony wasn't just the GPU that had to be upgraded.
@@MakeYourVision upgrade to Zen 3 still acceptable and massive in term of performance uplift.
RAM type same, mobo chipset same.
Price increase Zen 2 to Zen 3, not so much.
It's not like 7000 series or something.
You losers always speaking like y'all are engineers
Majority of games are GPU heavy so CPU upgrade isn't going to do much and then again if they upgraded the CPU and GPU then it wouldn't really be a pro model but a ps6 instead.
It's going the same steps as the ps4 pro with an overclock in CPU and a better GPU cause most games are GPU heavy and at higher Res CPU won't really help much
@@maskedlibrarian1483 except PC elitists wil ignore any logical arguement or statement cuz they live in a world where they think only they are allowed to be gamers
almost 3.5 yrs into this generation and zero games to play, ps4 ported games are not ps5 games. Also they have no excuse for exclusivity, before it was because the hardware differed too much from the pc, these days its literally a pc in a ps5 case.
PS5 pro skips leg day 😂
This aged very well
PlayStation is trying to compete with pc so hard that they even compete in bottlenecks
They dont because the price can not be higher than 600 or 700. They are just giv8ng an other option to console users.
Its official everyone, PS5 PRO is $700 BEFORE taxes!!! Did I forget to mention...PS5 PRO has ZERO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY and no disc drive option either. PC wins as always, and Nintendo is the only console manufacturer that matters because Microsoft is shifting Xbox to focus on Xbox Games Pass for all systems, rather than continue making consoles, and Sony is now removing features for gamers, and charging us double for them? No thank you, I will stick with the PC and Switch 2 (if its backwards compatible with the original Switch).
Best renting game machine ever!
There is the stella blade wich is already going to come in 1 month, so it is not true, there are also the good of war 5, horizont.
A PS5 themed bottle sis the only PS product I will buy nowadays
All Hail the ZENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Getting it day 1
🫵😂
The cpu is fine but the games… non existent
waits for potential bloodborne remake and maybe 60fps gaming for ctr nitro fueled , in tears
Given how sony is the apple of gaming theyll probably launch a 500gb pro model for $550 without a controller or stand
Sony is the what
@@samoptimus4228 apple of gaming, they know their sheep/consumers will buy anything from the company and will buy accessories meant to be packaged with the product, Xbox is the Disney of gaming cuz they squander and ruin everything we love, and buy up more talent just for more revenue
and charge you 1200$ for a "Pro Stand" hahaha. Console gaming has never been more ridiculous.🤣😂🤣😂
Pro mode comes with 2x the storage.
Atleast from going from the ps4 cause the pro model came with a 1tb from a 500gb and limited editions came with 2tb tho then again the slim models came with double the storage.
Hopefully the pro model of the ps5 ( if it's even launching lol) comes with 2TB or double what the base model has
@@maskedlibrarian1483 and? Most limited edition consoles can be sold at a loss cuz they're not too many units made
I don't think a single PS user ever said "You know what this console needs? Moar rAy TrAcInG 🤪."
Mabye they do this on purpose to make ps6 look better in the future
Ehm... It is needed for backwards compatibility, consoles work differently and need the **same** cpu to still maintain compatibility within current gen
So was with ps4 and ps4 pro
The channel of little jonnies, we hyped on 3070, we hype on this now...
Z E R O G A M E S is absolutely true. Sony fanboys can be butthurt all they want, but this generation has been booty cheeks.
Why didnt they start out with an upscaleable design philosophy.
