    Travis, If you want to paint your GM rally wheels silver like they came from factory , I use Krylo Hi Heat Aluminum (Radiator) in a rattle can after I bead blast them , It's real close to factory Argent Silver but a whole lot cheaper , Also Jegs sells the trim rings and center caps in stainless but prices on them are creeping up , used to get the rings for $20 a few years ago , I think they are around $30 now?

      It was a one owner, new car trade in very good condition. If memory serves me correctly it had about 60,000 miles on it. It needed nothing. A 6 year old Chevrolet would probably sell for $12,000. Crazy world.

Wish I had that car now. Ended up getting a 64 Dart 4 Dr, white, red gut, with a 273 and pushbutton auto, at auction for 100 bucks! Those were the days, Trav.

    Since they had the body off the frame, maybe when they put it back on, they didn't get it on straight. It appears to me that is the problem. The hood is fitting correctly but the whole body and front fenders are askew. That's why the right fender is so far forward and the left fender is back or in alignment. I think the body bolts need to be loosened and the body twisted to move it into alignment. Just my surmising.

  • @MDTAR15
    @MDTAR15 Год назад

    I'm only about sixteen minutes into your video so I don't know if you're going to do this or not...bit...I have that same car in a 1964. Loosen the bolts on your fenders and make adjustments on the fenders and the hood together.

  • @mk23hk

    To make the tires/wheels turn easier for alignment use a non -stick cookie pan under each tire. You can use new, or get some from a Thrift Store!

  • @billywird
    @billywird Год назад

    Friend of mine who was a factory trained mechanic used a castor and camber gauge like the one you have. He did all kinds of general repair when he opened up his own shop and he aligned front ends all of the time. Me thinks that the front end on that car has been off and it could be crooked. A body man I knew would point out that by just sighting the fenders one can tell if they are not in line with the rest of the car body and of course the radiator support where it attaches to the frame can be adjusted. Those hood adjustments can get tricky and along with wear in the hinges it can be hard to get them right. Same would apply to door alignment. I have seen people trying to adjust doors when the real culprit would be worn out door hinges as an example. It appears that the car has been lowered as I seem to remember cars in the sixties sitting a little higher in ground clearance. This looks like another "Dad" paint job in the works.

  • @smarthome2660
    @smarthome2660 Год назад

    My two cents, the drivers fender pushed back. So remove the drivers headlight, install a square tube and use a come along to pull the drivers side of the radiator support forward with the fender attached till it lines up with the hood, while adjusting the drivers side slots on the hood hinge back. Whenever moving fenders make sure the doors keep their gap so you don't curl the door or fender in when opening the door.

    All I've mess with in regards to alignment is tie rods. done it 2 times with a tape measure and or 2x4. Did alright for using that method. Obviously i just did that to have it good enough until I could get it to a shop to do it right.

    Man-o-man Travis that's a beautiful wagon. I wanted to give you the heads up there's a RUclips channel called what the rust and he shot a video at a auto parts store in Kentucky that has closed down quite a while ago but they found the whole thing full of brand new parts as they would say New Old Stock. Mostly for older vehicles like this stuff you're dealing with but all vehicles back even Studebakers and Hudson anyhow if you watch the video he gives the man's name and phone number to get ahold of him to buy whatever you need. Maybe there's something there you need they have literally hundreds of thousands of parts available. Anyhow keep doing what you doing I hope to God one day I get to go out that way and visit you and your dad I believe it would be something worthwhile doing!
