I'm back with another Madonna reaction from Erotica (1992), and this time we listen to "Rain," a tune I enjoyed with more emotional and affectionate lyrics than I expected (following after "Words"), with actual rain sounds and lots of atmosphere. So join me for a somewhat surprising one in the context of this album (at least as it hit me on this first listen). Cheers!

Hello, in the video of the song the great musician Ryuichi Sakamoto appears, while in the live version of the Girlie Show tour it is played with elements of Singin' in the Rain and Just My Imagination
One of my favourite songs by her! That sonic boost at 3:17 is just 👍
The video is great, so many good looking japanese men...
The video for this is REMARKABLE and makes you feel the song much more deeply.
Rain is undoubtly one of the most beautiful Madonna songs
In my Opinion "Rain" and "Deeper and Deeper" are the best songs on the album. They are very well crafted pop songs.
This is one of those songs that need to be listened to with headphones.
Pop Masterpiece 💎
This track always stood out - it's more overtly pop and less rooted in the current dance/r&b trends so now sounds less dated than some of the other tracks. It's a gorgeous track, she sounds great on it and there are some great production elements. Lyrically it sounds like a song using weather as metaphors for a relationship, with a spiritual vibe. I suspect however it's a song about sex as a unifying and healing force.

And you take the time to tell me how you feel

And I know you've heard, I know it's real
Rain is what this thunder brings"
This seems to me to be talking about sexual communication and two people listening to each others bodies and needs, not being selfish and pursuing just their own desire.
I love love love this song from Madonna. One of her best songs ever. The video is also stunning. For once she has clothes on. One of the best songs in pop history, in my opinion. I feel it's a bit overlooked?
I think the late Ryuichi Sakamoto (Japanese actor/music composer/producer) cameos in this video as the director of the video, it sort of is a making of the video within the video scenario (although it was actually directed by Mark Romane)
Loved this from day 1...I vaguely recall her saying something to the effect it was inspired bu Heathcliff and Cathy from Wuthering Heights could be mis remembering this but still beautiful song and video in all the blue tones xxx

This was not bad at all, you're right. There are many enjoyable sonic elements here, it's a nice song, Madonna sounds ok (though I really don't like the spoken word parts). I wouldn't turn it of if it came on the radio, though it would never figure in any of my playlists (but I am sure you wouldn't expect that 😉). I can think of much better songs with sounds of rain and "rolling thunders", of course. 🙃

React to Madonna's Take a Bow
Madonna did a version of this on her Girlie Show tour. Just her, Donna, and Niki (her backup singers). It was stunning. They threw in The Temptations, Just My Imagination (Running Away From Me). They sounded like angels. You should check it out.
