This recipe was how I learned my pan is not, in fact, non-stick....

That crunch though. Looks yummy, thanks for sharing.
I like to follow Sohla's (from Bon Appetit) suggestion to use a mix of vinegar and water to make the slurry. It gives the crispy skirt a nice flavor. Marion's pleats come out much neater than mine!
Thanks, I'd forgotten about Sohla's vinegar tip. I did add a pinch salt to the slurry though. I used a small cast iron pan and it was perfect. They froze really well and I didnt defrost before cooking them. Cant wait to make again...like 100s of them!!!!

48frames ‘ Really? I’m in a mood. Enlighten me, on your post.
I love making gyoza and eating them. My son was a Chef and taught me to make them the Japanese way and to serve them with a Japanese pancake. Now I have to try it your way. Thank you. 🌷
this way is actually chinese way😁
Was a chef? Not anymore?
Alternatively, if someone's worried they might burn themselves when flipping the dumplings out of the pan, what I do is lay paper towels out on a plate and slide all the dumplings onto it, letting the paper towel absorb the oil, then grab another plate to flip all the dumplings over preserving the latice structure. It makes it a lot easier to transfer it between two plates, and the paper towel helps absorb some excess oil and liquid.
Great tip! Love it! 👌
I’m so inspired by your content and Asian food! Found an Asian Supermarket down the block couple weeks ago, having the best time cooking now 🥟🍜 Thank you Marion 💚
When you see Marion's videos you instantly click and watch =D
Aw thanks Gavin!
You know it.
I’m the 69th like noice
Those thumbs down need to get their heads checked out. How could anyone not like her videos? She's a amazing cook and many of her recipes and tips are life savers for me! Keep it going Marion. I miss Mama Noi.
This is called 冰花锅贴 or 煎饺 (pan fried dumplings) , our Chinese traditional family or street food. You did a good job 👍
The Japanese word gyoza is just like the typical northern Chinese accent of saying jiaozi
@@aaronfang6965 no it's cooked the same. Gyoza and ramen is considered Chinese food in Japan considering most of this is served by original Chinese immigrants that went to Japan. Gyoza is the Japanese pronunciation of Chinese gao-zi
Perfect!! Gyoza looks delicious👍👍
I have been making several of your recipes and I want to thank you for making dishes that a home cook can easily make. My family and friends are very happy because during quarantine they have been eating delicious asian food. Thank you Marion!!! You are the best!!!
Well that just makes my day!! Thank you so much Giancarlo! ❤️
I love how you teach little tricks on how to cut things and where you can find certain ingredients/names of them. Thanks for being so helpful, you’re wonderful!
You're a true professional Marion 👏🏾👏🏾 Love you and your perfect recipes! 💖
Aw thanks Sarah!
Marion's kitchen is my favourite cooking channel. Recipes always turn out great and many recipes are not so hard for a novice to do!
Everyone: That Looks So Good

Where in the video?
Do you mean music that Fortnite stole?
wow
So I tried this recipe and things to note;
-The only supermarket I could find with any kind of dumpling wrappers was Coles, and those are square wonton wrappers, which did just fine taste and texture wise, although the colour was a bit different.
-Getting square ones means you have to come up with your own way of encasing the filling. Furthermore, holy crap they are fiddly and Marion makes it look way easier than it actually is!
-The crispy pancake doesn't always crisp up so make sure you don't pour too much on the pan and make sure it is evenly distributed
-you can switch out the pork for chicken mince and add one or two cooked frozen prawns to each dumpling (don't defrost otherwise they will become tough) for chicken and prawn dumplings that suit the marinade just as well.
-altogether these dumplings are amazing, but then what would you expect from this chick? She is such a great cook!
Thank you for this. I've been trying to get that crispy crust for a long time and your video cleared up the mistake I was making. I was keeping the pan too hot after adding the slurry.
I made a batch of these and cant wait to make them again. I found rather large wrappers at an HMart. So good! Especially that lacy skirt......Big crowd pleaser! Thanks so much!
ASMR listening to her crunch the dumpling
Me not knowing how to cook “ oh yes yes yum “
My wish is for a new fresh, modern cookbook release for when Marion hits 1 million subscribers!
It killed me when she didn't scoop up loads of sauce with the dumpling lol
If you've got good filling you don't need to drown out the flavour in soy
well you can't just yet when the gyoza is sealed, wait til you bite a hole through the filling and soak up the sauce with a second dip.
You know nothing about good food if you have to drown your food in sauce.
I have had to create a playlist of recipes since I've been working from home because all of your recipes make me drool! Have loved you since MasterChef! Would have loved to see you on the current series.
Marion cooks crunchy gyoza.
Me: Drooling mode: ON
🤤😁
I do similar dumplings, but replace the cabbage with kimchi .. for a little bit a spice :D
please do a video about how to care for bamboo steamers or when using a newly bough steamer. thank you Marion!
Can't wait to try this! I find folding dumplings to be so therapeutic and I could definitely go for some of that right now.
i always want to recreate her recipes but end up just watching them
Right! We're teasingly annoying ourselves hahaa 😂❤
Ahahaha. Well thanks for watching anyway! LOL
You need to try at least 1...perfect it..and totally bask in the enjoyment of eating it! Trust me...you'll want to try others 💜
The garlic butter pasta it's really easy and really good! It's the only I have tried but... It's something
I’m the same way. Everything looks delicious but I know I can’t recreate most of her dishes.
Marion, I love how those dumplings looked when you finished pinching them and lined them up on the tray. So beautiful and cute! As far as dipping sauce, I like to do half soy sauce, half Chinese black vinegar, my homemade chile oil (chile flakes, minced garlic, and oil that's cooked on the stove until aromatic), and a ton of sliced scallions tossed in. Yum!
Ms. Marion, you are my hero.
I love how you're explaining everything. We love Gyoza so much that my teenies and I tried it once. It didn't went well so we just decided to buy a frozen Gyoza but it's really different from home made. Definitely this I will try, looks so easy and i love the idea of putting some flour water on it to add crunchiness😊 Thank you so much for sharing this. Love it!🥰
Wow! That looks delicious! Fast, easy, simple, and a must try! Thanks for sharing👍🏾💕

it’s still 5 am here but this made me so hungry. i love gyoza. thanks for this, marion! ❤️
5am...perfect time for dumplings?! 🤣
fabulous! great little lacey trick, thank you!
Oooh love the added batter. Have to try that. I love the crunchy part of the gyoza. So satisfying.
I still to this day remember her getting the boot from Masterchef. I remember almost choking on my food when they said “Aaron you’re safe”
She was on masterchef? What season?

Crunchy gyoza is my favourite. I've always cooked mine like that. It's amazing 😍
After watching your show I really love eating Thai food . I’m gluten free and I like dumplings so much . please teach me easy way to make it with soup and just simply steamed and this kind two thank you
Definitely going to be trying this one! Looks delicious
Could you please do vegetable side dishes to go with your videos? I love these, but what do I serve them with? (and lots of other dishes you make.) I'm not a vegan, but would love to up my veg intake.
I really really love your video! Try to use Chinese chives or fine-chopped celery for that veggie filling next time, that's my favourit.
nice recipe and technique!!
Gyoza is my favourite food of all time.
Narration is very soothing
after a couple failed flips, you should have heard me yelling once i got that perfect crispy skirt all around those perfectly seasoned gyoza.. thanks for this one!
The trick to having hanetsuki gyoza not stick is temperature and timing. Be patient, allow the low temperature to do its thing. As the steam evaporates, you'll notice the skirt peeling itself off the edges of your pan; let it keep doing this. It will pop off when it's ready. Making this actually beautifully cleans my cast iron!
You stay bringing out the hits! 💯
Just made these tonight... And they were AWESOME! 美味しかった!
Best cooking guide I've ever seen and watched especially since u can tell she's really into cooking and shows enthusiasm and just makes the video itself good overall she's underestimated but i know where im coming for cooking recipes
Oh wow! What a thoughtful and lovely comment to read! Thank you for your kindness!!
Do you mean underrated or underestimated?
My sister cooks this for snack! So yum
This looks so beautiful and delicious!!! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes and techniques! 💛💛
Marion I'm mad about gyoza, but that crispy bottom and wheel presentation is just TOO MUCH!!!
I'm not complaining though! Your recipes have been a real morale boost throughout lockdown.
Aw thanks David and I’m glad I could help in my own small way 😊😊😊
@@Marionskitchen I love that I'm half Thai!
I’m love to watching your style cooking 😋😋😋😋
You and Adam (Liaw) should collaborate on a dumpling video now that you're back in Aus!!
This is mouth watering.
Thanks to your previous videos Marion, I am a dumplings making fiend! I have also followed your videos and made my own dumpling wrappers! My Thai best friend says I am more Asian than her!😜 I am doing this technique for sure!! Thanks for the culinary direction! Much love from South Carolina, USA!
Just made those! I am a Gyoza addict! I made the Gyoza wrappers using your gyoza dough recipe. These were flavorful, delicate and oh so crunchy !
You look like you're enjoying them so much .. yum!!!!!
I use watered down mashed fermented tofu for the lace and it tastes amazing!!
Lovely 👍
Hi Marion the wrappers came out very good . But wanted to know the size of the wrappers please
Wow i really love this gyosa recipe marion 🥰 we enjoy that CRUNCH at the bottom. I used carrots instead of cabbage, still taste great !
I can’t wait to make these!! Every recipe I’ve tried from you has been absolutely fantastic!!!
They are especially elegant with the lace bottom, or should I say top, since you invert them. Thank you.
Mmmm another amazing recipe. I'm going to do a grocery store run. I've got to try this. Thank you for making this easy enough for all of us to make. I'm a huge fan of your recipes😋 and you of course😊Thanks again Morion.
You make everything look so good, glad I found your channel.
I love your videos 😍 i binge watch them and it is the most underrated RUclips channel and the amount of effort you put in your videos is incredible ❤️
You are the best 💟
I first encountered Gyoza when I lived in Rangsit and Future Park was a lot smaller with the food court located on the top floor only. My first Gyoza was the classic "I just died and went to food heaven" experience. I am so delighted to see your recipe. Guess what we are having for dinner tonight!
We do it a little different at home. I like to crush the garlic and ginger with some white peppercorns to a fine texture, then sauté them and then add the finely sliced cabbages and cook it down with salt until it softens. Cool it down and then add to the ground pork. Instead of spring onions, I prefer garlic chives or “koo chye” (Thai, southern Chinese dialect). The flavors are better this way. Season with soy sauce and sugar and sesame oil. Mum’s trick - cook a small portion and taste before adjusting the seasoning.
Wow does pork really have the time to cook during these 5-10 minutes? I often have the problem that the meat takes very long to cook
the way i do it is too low the heat, so the bottom wont burnt and i have time for the meat to cook.
Thank you for posting this, I've been wanting to find a good recipe for gyoza, these look divine!
Hi Marion, thanks for the beautiful recipe. Just wondering what is best to use for the green cabbage? savoy or chinese cabbage?
They look so good. 😍 You make pleating the dumplings look so easy but explained it so well that I’ll definitely give it a go. 🤗
it looks yummy
Really liked that green onion tip
Yummmmy so making this😍 thanks
Thank you for sharing! The dumplings look delicious!!
Any suggestions for a veggie alternative please? Love cabbage but what else?? Thanks
Looks so yummy. Can't wait to try making them. Tks Marion.
Yummy food for you

Loads of love from India
Glad RUclips recommended this to me.
I think I’m in love 🥰
Wow! It looks very delicious 👍👍
만두 = L.O.V.E ❤
Totally making this tonight!
It's probably not for everybody, but 2 parts balsamic vinegar, to 1 part oyster sauce, to 1 part chilli flakes makes for the best dipping sauce imo
GYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great recipe! Just made these for dinner and my whole family thought it was delicious. Thank you ☺️
You’re a beast! My favorite subscription! You should be on a TV cooking show my love! I’ve been practicing Asian cooking.... you’re the best!
