This made me tear up.. I remember being like 8 yrs old and I would beg my grandma to come watch me play DK when her and grandpa visited. She would do it happily, just sit on the edge of my bed and watch me play DK without a complaint just because I was so stoked on the game and I guess she could see that and went along with it just to make me happy. Love you grams.
Your memory made me tear up 😢. This is one game that my mom and grandma would actually come and play with us. When they would come in we would bunch up around them and watch them play 😊
@@GaudyGabriev well I mean I wouldn’t call it underrated because it seems like people are talking about this soundtrack all of the time, but it’s still amazing.
Imagine getting that kind of sound down to a couple kilobytes on a SNES music chip. The composition itself is already great, but to have that kind of sound clarity on a SNES was basically unheard of at the time. David Wise is the man!
I have 16 years playing music and I can tell you that what captivates me the most is thinking on how David was able to reach this musical greatness, this magnificent voice movement and sweet chord progressions. Moving this music to 8 or 16 bits I would say is more a technical aspect that can be resolved with the appropriate technician.
I've become obsessed with this song after hearing this version for the first time. Never even played Donkey Kong Country but spontaneous eye wells formed when the chord at 1:03 was played. Other versions have not achieved this.

I happened to hear you guys play this live in Detroit for the NSP acoustic tour this year and I gotta say, it was an almost intimidating moment, humbling more like, the silence of the crowd while y'all plucked and strummed away. Not even a sound, dude, but the ambience, It was a powerful energy that is going to stick in my brain forever. This song means so much to me and to many of the others out there in that crowd and to hear y'all just happen to play that live, that shit was life changing and it brought tears to my eyes, I was holding my nose the whole song holding em back. Knowing y'all were playing for your friends and family in the crowd too, you guys rocked the hell out of it. I hope I get to see you guys tour again, either with NSP again or on your own, I would to love to see your guys' full show someday. Thanks for the most epic performance in Detroit dudes, you rock!
Oh man I'm jealous, I was sposta be at that exact show but life showed up instead. I can't imagine how intense the feeling of hearing this live would be.
You're not the only one. Reminds me of being around 8 years old and playing this game with my mom. Beautiful song that brings up nostalgic, happy memories.
The song sounds very melancholic too, it’s the notes that evoke emotion. Just goes to show how great a composer David Wise is. He’s a genius. The sadness vibes really fit with a dying world theme, pollution in the water, etc.
I literally just keep coming back to close my eyes and visualize being 8 years old again, and playing Coral Capers over and over just to hear the soundtrack. That was when I knew I was a musician. That connection to the sounds that were coming out of my TV set, was unbreakable. Thanks again Boys.
I have played this video for my son since he was born and he never stops getting excited every time he listens to it, he even picks up a toy guitar and pretends it is you, and at the end he says "bravo!". This is our song. Thank you for this masterpiece, I hope that as the years go by he can play it like you guys 🙏🏼. See you in 10 years.
I love how the dynamics are the most important part of playing this song. Every song has a theme that can be translated into a guitar lesson. Great stuff.
Imagine going back in time and showing David Wise what this would become, showing him videos like this....dude probably had no idea the impact he was going to be making working for a very small game developer in that era. Blows my mind thinking about it.
This is insane. The skill and dedication here is something to behold. The glass slide to imitate the chorus synth effect is beyond me. Just bravo gentlemen. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🤟🏻

i shed some tears listening to this. The amount of creatively and passion that goes into your arrangements and playing is really inspiring to me as a musician. Keep up the donkey kong covers i think they are your guys best work! thank you for this awesome video!
I've been searching for different arrangements for this song. To make it sound good on two acoustics is very impressive, the control of the shifting dynamics (like swelling and fading in volume) and the subtle nuances of the harmonics add so much depth. Excellent. The arpeggios are crisp, not self indulgent, meaning they add to the melody rather than detract, *and* they fit the tune so well. You guys seriously rock.

that legato/sweep run was just amazing! The thought that all notes were played on a acoustic nylon string guitar is just amazing.
