Aquatic Ambience ambient cover on Harp (Donkey Kong Country)

- Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong Country harp cover is something I've wanted to make for a long time. I needed to wait until I knew the perfect effects pedal combination to use for it, and I found it in Microcosm, Plus Pedal, and Skylar!
The harp is first sent into the Plus Pedal, which has the Skylar in the effects loop, which adds reverb to the sustained notes. The dry harp signal is sent from the Plus Pedal wet switch to Microcosm, onto a separate stereo track.

This sounds so peaceful! The big washes and shimmers from the pedals sound so nice filling a similar role as the "soaring" synth notes and pads in the original.

This is so beautiful and nostalgic it brought a tear to my eye. To date it's still one of my favorite pieces of music, and this rendition is simply divine. Proof that amazing music can often come from unexpected places. Who would have thought a Nintendo game's level where an ape rides a sword fish of all things would result in something so gorgeous and touching?

that's really cool . I lived in a building with some harp players, mom and daughter, and I recorded them and then ran it through a bunch of effects and it was super cool. that was about 15 years ago.

Haven’t heard this in over 20 years but you took me right back to the old SNES days. Also, love the close ups around 1:30, so cool to watch your hands and the precision. I wasn't even born yet when this game came out, but I absolutely fell in with this song the moment I heard it. Having nostalgia for something you've never had in the first place feels so weird. Whenever covering something, I love those moments you get when you're breaking it down to play it and start uncovering all the little nuance. For instance, those arpeggios switch melodic contour every time, and still somehow David Wise manages to keep everything under the "lush arpeggios" umbrella, like different little waves of notes, and I think it's absolutely done with that intention, or the fact that actually this song is quite long, going through very different moments and not missing a beat keeping you on a journey, with seamless transitions, and of course, all the effects that could go into a snes chip. Its when it starts making sense why it's such an amazing song.
And of course, this performance easily shows how in depth you went. Exquisite, as always!
