I have a 2001 Accord (185,000mi) which had this problem, I removed and cleaned both shift solenoid assemblies located on top of the transmission, problem solved. Afterwards I did a flush. (Drain, fill, drive 3 times).
I have a 98 Acura Cl 3.0. These engines are knows as the J30A1. My car was driving normal. But one day it just flashed D4. And the car would accelerate slooowww. And once I reached 40 mph. The car would drive regular. But when I would go to a stop sign, I would have to restart. Just wondering if this’ll. Work
Have the same issue, 98 lx. did all the solenoid cleaning and changed the fluid but it still shifts down hard into 1st coming to a stop. I've noticed it only starts to happen when the engine gets fully hot, after some freeway driving or a lot of in town driving. Most people say it's just prolonging time to the inevitable failure but the fact it doesn't happen constantly is what makes me think I can do something about it.
I have a very similar problem with my 2000 accord v6. When I leave the car for 30 off for minutes or so the shifting returns to normal and then it gets worse in stop and go traffic or driving up hills.
@@Lifeofnuggs I have the same problem with my 2002 Honda Accord. I tried everything to solve this problem but it’s always the same outcome so what I do is baby the hell out of my car and be patient with it until I can find me a new/used car :/ pitiful really

I have a 2001 Honda Accord lx and the transmission is automatic and when I try to put full power down it doesn’t shift it gets to rpm 5 and jerks like it’s stuck but when I drive normally u kno not street racer mode it shifts ok it gets high revs when it shifts sometimes. Do u kno what the cause of that is bc I don’t wanna buy a new transmission

My 2001 Honda drives up like 30miles an hr and start to shift in and out of gears ...what should I do
If you were to replace it would you drain the transmission fluid before you remove it then when you got it in fill it or does it really matter
Replace the fluid before you remove it otherwise you will just clog the screens again.
Thank you!!!
could i just buy new solenoids if i’m having this same problem?
Yes

My 01 v6 Honda does that from time to time when cold
That most likely will be your vehicle speed sensor. When the d4 flashes it means the vehicle speed sensor is not reading
Yes it will help absolutely.
