Today on our 2011 Ford F-350, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Dee Zee truck bed auxiliary tank. This rectangle shaped tank is made out of aluminum. It's part number is DZ91752X. And to make your installation go a lot easier, we're also gonna be using the Dee Zee connector kit. This is part number DZ97960. Here's what our tank's gonna look like installed.
This is gonna give us about 38 to 40 gallons of extra storage space for fuel, which we can run directly to our fuel line. Now the nice thing about it, we've got the option of placing our filler neck on that side or on this side and we also have the second bung here in case we needed to do some kind of auxiliary pump or if you wanna do a hand pump in there to use this also to fill other vehicles, you can do that. It's not gonna be a big issue. Now the design of the tank's nice. We're gonna have stabilizing baffles inside.
That's gonna keep that sloshing effect from going side to side to a minimum. On the corners here, they've rounded these edges. That's gonna help to reduce those pressure points that we can sometimes get, and that's gonna help our tank last for a very long time, especially with the aluminum construction. This is that tread brite material. It's gonna give us the rust corrosion prevention, not gonna have to worry about that a bit.
Now from the actual bulkhead of the truck coming back, we've added about 9 1/4 inches. So you're gonna have that loss of the front of the bed with the tank installed. Overall from the top of the bed corrugation gonna be at about 22 inches to the top of our cap. Now as you can see, that cap is gonna stick out over the top of the truck. So tonneau covers and things like that, probably not gonna be able to use those, but if you did have any kind of ladder rack system on your truck that goes on the side rail, we're really not gonna have any interference there.
So I think you'll be fine. Now overall on the width, just so we can wrap up our measurements, we're looking at about 60 inches. And in our case, from the outside edge of the tank to the inside edge of the bed rail, it's left us with about 2 1/4 inches. So if you had anything that you wanted to fit in there, you may still be able to. Also, our tank's gonna give us the DOT certification rating for the UN31A and UN31B classes. You can also see with our cap design here, it's designed to really help seal that fuel in but also to be self venting. So if our pressures get too high in the tank, or if we start getting that vacuum effect, this is gonna help to alleviate that. Just wanna get it lined up with our two notches there on top and then press down and rotate to seal that off. Now the first thing we need to do for our installation is to determine where we're gonna be adding in our in-line adapter. Now what this adapter's going to do, it's gonna go right in line on our fuel fill line here, and we've got a check valve located in this fitting. So if the fuel level gets low in the tank, this is gonna start allowing fuel to come down through. As that fuel level is filled back up, it closes off the valve inside of here, and that's gonna keep all the fuel in that upper tank until it's needed in the lower tank. So it's a really nice straightforward system. You're not gonna have any switches, any levers, any things that you need to pull or do anything like that with unless you just want to shut off your tank. So it makes it a really easy system to use. What you need to do is find the fuel filler neck on the truck, which in this case is gonna be located right down here. It's gonna go over top of our frame rail. And we're gonna be positioning this, you can see our metal line here goes down to the rubber line. That metal ends about here. So we'll come back from there a little bit and we'll be putting that in about there. So about right there. Now we know that we want our valve to go over this way. That's where the side of our tank is. So we're gonna place it in there just like that. Before we put it in though, we do want to put some thread sealant, some thread compound there and get it set up to where it'll be in the right direction for us. Another step's gonna be removing the plug that we've got here in the bung in the tank. That's where we're gonna be threading in the shutoff valve. If there's ever an instance we want to shut the flow of the tank off from our fuel system, we can simply move that valve over. And then we're gonna have our 90 degree turn down, which is gonna allow us to run the rubber fuel line through the bed of the truck down to the fuel fil
