Your videos have been a great blessing to me I'm currently a game design student at Full Sail University I was just recently having problems with lighting with one of my projects this video helped me fix it
I am crying now :') When I started to study 3D graphics, I tried to make a similar scene, but it looked much worse despite I used 3ds Max and its best renderer. Now you can see interactively 3d graphics much better quality without the need for render it. And it's amazing!
I would love to see a good in depth tutorial of realistic lighting in Unity and how to avoid problems such as lights trespassing walls and stuff like that. Keep the good work up man! I'm loving your content lately
Brackey is always uploading very useful videos that helps me a lot in Unity, really appreciate the tutorial, wished this could work on Unity 2019 and beyond.
you're one of the coolest game tutor and its really amazing to make a website dev assets. Its really really cool, specially the feather of pay what you want and mentioning the credit of developers/modelers. Keep doing great work and wish you all the best.
whenever I aply the volumetric light rederer to a camera it makes the camera display an upside down image instead of the normal orientation of the camera
hey brackeys, love your stuff, but like, I gotta mention that you ALWAYS pronounced Vignette wrong.... it's not an english word, it's pronounced "Vin-yet"
It's not working for me, the camera appears upside-down and it doesn't do anything once I press play. It's just the same scene but flipped upside-down. Any help?

My rendered image mirrors vertically when i enable the Volumetric Renderer on the camera. can't figure out why, seems its only using the default rendering path.
@Brackeys Hi, I've been fooling around bit with the package, imported it in my own project and everything works. But the volumetric lighting just doesn't shows when I build ( windows standalone ). Is there something to take care of to make this work?
Hey Brackeys , i want to ask you about the volumetric lights. why my volumetric light not appeared on my build EXE game ? but appeared on my game scene on unity. Thank you !
Someone managed to make it work on URP? Or to find an alternative? All the solutions I've found on the internet are not as reliable as this one (or are paid).
Hi Brackeys. Thanks for the tut. I'm new to Unity but pretty well versed in Maya. I'm trying to add this volumetric lighting but it still doesn't seem to work. I added the script to the light, added it to the camera, pressed play, adjusted the Scattering Coef, I even did what was mentioned in the comments below of adding Sandox/volumetric ligths.. Still nothing. I thought maybe it's like Maya and it needs also Fog Volume, but I noticed in the video that you disable the Dust Storm and it still works. What am I missing? (I'm sure it's some kind of newbie thing, sorry)
Assets/Volumetric Lights/Scripts/VolumetricLight.cs(98,19): error CS1061: Type `Light' does not contain a definition for `type' and no extension method `type' of type `Light' could be found. Are you missing an assembly reference? What should i do to this???
This seems like a really cool tutorial but I think your demoscene should have been darker. Like, at least twilight. Because the scene in the video is too bright to really show off the effect. Anyway, this seems like a really good tutorial. I look forward to trying it out myself latter.
I always get this error: Invalid pass number (1) for Graphics.Blit (Material "Hidden/BilateralBlur" with 1 passes) I did add the bilateralblur shader to the graphics settings but that didn't change anything. Everything works like it should tho. Anyone knows how to fix this, it just bugs me having an error there all the time. Also does anyone know how to get this working for an orthographic camera?
When u look through this volumetric light, it also lights up the skybox which is far behind in the background. Is there a way to make it exclude the skybox?
Galera pra resolver a camera virando faz isso, Vai nas opções de qualidade. Desliga o anti-aliasing, liga o hdr da camera, e muda o rendering path pra deferred. Isso ja resolve.
So is there any other way to get the unity package cause I cannot even find it in the old.brackeys.com anymore. Tried changing the URL adding 'old' but doesn't seems to work :(
There's a GitHub link in the description where it's still available. Just open the link, click on the green button that says "Code" and then "Download ZIP".
does anyone know where the environment is? For the sample scene that I have, there is just a brown mesh on which the vehicles are. The environment looks very cool so I was wondering where it is.
I got it, just in case anyone has this issue, for what ever reason if you turn off physical camera in lighting the post processing gets messed up and your sky box disapears.
Hi brackeys, or whomever is reading, Ive been doing computer science for the past 3 years for gcse and a level and my teacher recommended unity to learn game development (which is career i want to follow) which led me to you. i was wonder though... where do I even start! this is mainly a problem about not knowing which of your tutorials to watch first and stuff like that but any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance
Can someone please help me out here? I am working on a game and the volumetric lights do not work with orthographic camera. I have an issue with post processing stack as well. All I am seeing after applying PP layer and PP volume to the camera is a BLACK SCREEN! :(
Hi. I was wondering if anyone know how to fix the white flashing that appears when moving around with the camera during play. I get really weird flashes when moving around.
Well there are a lot of things. You can Blender if you are a beginner in modeling and you can use Wings3D and SketchUp. and there are more like AutoDesk Maya and 3DS Max but they cost money and there free trailsof them, but i suggest using Blender because its good for beginners (but its a little bit hard for me).

Brackeys, great tutorial though the camera flips uside down any help on that?
You are amazing, keep up the great work! Thank you for explaining the lighting setup!
Merry Christmas everyone! :D
Merry Christmas! :)
Brackeys could you please make a video explaining all about uv maping/ projection/ baking . and importing 3d fbx objects , materials into unity
Merry christmas ;D
09:00 - 12:00 is about volumetric light
For some reason, the volumetric lighting isn't showing up once I build the project -- any suggestions?
Got it! Edit>Project Settings>Graphics, Always Included Shaders: add Hidden/BitAdd, and Hidden/BilateralBlur. Works like a charm.
Thanks for updating this once you found out. Really helped me out!
I cant seem to find those shaders, got any tips?
+ Sandbox/volumetricLight for me, or it doesn't works
You just saved my project mate. Thanks a lot!
Wow! This is great! I highly recommend this to all unity people. It doesn't even need to be baked!! DOOOOOOD.
whenever I aply the volumetric light rederer to a camera it makes the camera display an upside down image instead of the normal orientation of the camera
I have this same problem :(
Ok, I fixed this by 1: Making sure there is only 1 camera in the scene, 2: Using Deferrd rendering
Try turning off Unity's standard MSAA (and replace it with AA script from the standard assets if you want).
just rotate the camera upside down, youll be fine

Hi there! anyone know if the plugin works fine with Unity 2018.x? I was looking something like this for VR project
Mine don't work but I used "Density Volume" with nice results, this is for UNITY HDRP 2019.2.xx. Oculus rift cameras, render it well :)

Hi! Where is the video that is referenced in the beginning of this video where the scene is created?
Hake volumetric lighting using the new particle shader (distance based fade) is very useful for low-end platforms

Nope, haven't fixed it yet, it's a side project so I don't have much time to spend on it.
It's only rendering the volumetric light within the left eye (tested with the HTC Vive). If anyone knows how to fix that for Unity VR, be my guest.
try in VolumetricLight.cs
delete line 361
_commandBuffer.SetRenderTarget(renderer.GetVolumeLightBuffer());
_commandBuffer.DrawMesh(mesh, world, _material, 0, pass);
and add
renderer.GlobalCommandBuffer.DrawMesh(mesh, world, _material, 0, pass);
