    This is a cool channel, thanks for making it. I'm a fellow WI guy with an 02 highlander and the wife has a 18 highlander. Both vehicles are absolutely amazing in the snow! Even my 20 yr old highlander with 212k miles is absolutely unstoppable in even the worst blizzards and deepest snow. I want to convert them both in a similar fashion to what you have done (have two kids which would need a place to sleep as well lol) Thanks for all the info!

    Have you thought about trying a diesel heater? It’s dry heat with no condensation. And also a plus that the exhaust fumes would be outside the car/tent.

    • @DirtTravelAdventures
      @DirtTravelAdventures  2 года назад +1

      I have a diesel heater ... but it's still in the box lol. My concern is that it's going to be too intense for such a small area, even on it's lowest setting. I say that because two of the overlanding friends I go camping with both have diesel heaters and one of the is in a truck camper and it almost cooks him out of it even on a low setting. So I'm probably not going to go the diesel heater route, but haven't completely decided yet ...

    Perhaps a Highlander Hybrid would allow you to run HVAC all night, aka hotel Prius.

    I am original owner of a 2003 Toyota Highlander. Not sure I can remove the back seats like you did but can use plywood in a similar fashion. What are the dimensions of your outside canopy!? How much was it, can you provide a link? I bought one, haven’t opened it but think it’s too small; really love the canopy as I’m in the Puget Sound Seattle area (rain rain rain). What portable toilet do you use; link?

    • @DirtTravelAdventures
      @DirtTravelAdventures  2 года назад

      The canopy is just a Walmart special from Ozark Trail and is 10’x10’ slant leg easy-up. What’s nice about it is that it fits perfectly sideways on the floor right behind the front seats. I think at the time that I got it, it was right around $60 bux or so. The portable and foldable toilet is also an Ozark Trail brand from Walmart and is nice because it comes with double sealable and biodegradable waste bags. Thanks for watching. 😎🤘💯

    Is that an electric blanket? And what is the heater you have going in the front seat? What is your power source? Thanks.
    And I love the simple countertop at your feet. Good idea.

    • @DirtTravelAdventures
      @DirtTravelAdventures  3 года назад +2

      Non-electric blanket but still very comfortable. The heater is a Big Buddy heater by Mr. Heater. Even on the lowest setting and all of the windows cracked, it was still too warm! Thanks for watching. 😊

      @livableincome 3 года назад

      @@DirtTravelAdventures Thank you.😊
      How do you set up Mr. Buddy so there is enough room in front of it so it doesn't burn anything? Even on low, I thought it would melt stuff. I was thinking of making a table it could stand on between the two front seats so there is lots of clear space in front of it. Not sure if that is enough surface room for it though.

      @DirtTravelAdventures  3 года назад +2

      @@livableincome It's not so much what is in front of it, it's what's above it. It has a built in fan so I keep that on to direct the heat more forward and not so much into the roof liner and I also keep it flat by placing a board underneath it along with a fiberglass welding blanket and when it's on low, which is the only setting I keep it on, it works just fine with no probs. Just have to be smart about it and keep a carbon monoxide detector in there as well. We keep our right by our heads. 😎🤘
