'I know son, I know, they got us under contract for 5 seasons because I was an idiot. I've slashed their budget as much as I can and made them film in a cheap soundstage in London instead of New Zealand. Season 2 is going to make season 1 look like the Peter Jackson films.'
I'm not a lawyer but I can not believe that any halway competent businessman would agree to pay for 5 seasons upfront. That action alone made the show even worse by assuring the showrunners that they could apparently do whatever they want and still get apparently 10-20 years of steady work, judging by how long the new season is taking.

George Lucas would add weird stuff like maybe Elves being powered by microscopic Elvichlorians or something but he would get the big picture stuff right. The sequel trilogy has really made me appreciate George Lucas, even at his most mediocre. He's got the base down well, all he needs is enough humility to question his sillier little ideas.

I know Shadow of Mordor isn't canon but Celebrimbor was a badass in that game. So jarring to the way he is portrayed in Rings of Power.

The thing about fantasy is the possibility of multi races involved in the story. That is diversity incarnate, but no we have to have those races automatically be further diverse in color and physical traits. This shows somehow the equality in every race through diversity within every race. That's how we get a six foot black samurai in the 1700's Japan as something quite natural and familiar even expected.

As a German, I apologize for Daedalic and what they did to Lord of the Rings. I have some surface level insight because I know people who once worked for this company. You should know that for a long time, they only produced 2D point-and-click adventures with little to no technical depth. Their first real 3D game was The Lord of Ring: Gollum, and the biggest problem was that their team mainly consisted of interns for ages. So you can imagine why this game is as bad as it is. I'm at the start of the video, but before anyone mentions it, the studio isn't completely closed-they only stopped producing their own games, but they still publish.
Hey man you don't have to apologize for your country. Otherwise you should also apologize for the age of consent set at 14, for Angrla Merkel, forr the funny moustache man, for Uwe Boll, etc etc,it never ends.

Going with Wolf's description I've noticed this too where these shows feel weirdly claustrophobic. Old movies that used CGI backgrounds sure may show some age but they don't feel claustrophobic. Like Obi-Wan in the hanger of Revenge of the Sith, or Zion in the Matrix sequels. Despite it being CG it still feels like this huge world. But these streaming shows all feel like the actors have to stand perfectly still otherwise if they take two steps they'll hit a wall. Everything just looks so fake. When I was watching Obi-Wan I felt like I was watching some community college stage play. I don't know how they are filming these things but it just feels like the scope and depth of field is completely gone.
I wish you guys spent more time recommending good stuff. I'm actively trying to avoid modern grey sludge so I'm rarely inclined to click on thumbnails about the latest shitty reboot or marvel movie.
That's a heck of a challenge nowadays but alright, have you seen Shogun? It's superb, beautifully acted period piece with accurate casting, which is rare as hen's teeth these days.
I gotta admit though, the ending of season 1 is making me sweat over season 2. I can see how it could go so wrong, but I'd only give that about a 20% chance of happening.

I'm not entirely sure how I make the distinction between good and bad, because it's so intuitive, but my current theory is based on the Moon Shadow Sword Emperor-manga because it feels like a perfect middle ground: You have no consequences because the MC will always invariably win and there aren't really any external influences in his story (characters' actions only matter when aimed at him). However, the events in the story follow through logically. Every time the MC encounters a bad person he will clash with them due to them both having a giant ego or because he views the villain of the week as prey. This clash then spirals into several other conflicts or events before settling down.
Contrast the latter into other bad mangas and the difference becomes obvious: in bad writing plot devices, luck and plot convenience are rampant - all the relevant plot characters will literally crash into the MC out of nowhere and villains too stupid to live will randomly start a vendetta against him over nothing. Meanwhile in MSSE the only random factor is that the main character encounters an opponent, since his actions will then cause that spark of friction to burst into a bonfire. It's not hard to get into fights if you're a douche..
This stream was from before that stupid Damsel movie came out, right? Because I have to say that bit about Rosie riding in on a dragon that she befriended while pregnant sounds pretty prophetic in hindsight.
Also, unless the movie with Robert De Niro and Kenneth Branagh is way less accurate than I realized, then the monster absolutely doesn't kill Frankenstein, Frankenstein kills himself through poor health in his attempts to find and destroy the monster.

@@Ron_Jambo_ EFAP does the most in detail breakdowns on youtube and mauler is probably the most reasonable but brutal reviewer on the platform. There's a reason he can destroy every single scene of MoM for example in a 10 hour video. His Arcane review was so good because for once they reviewed a show that deserved praise. The Suicide Squad review was also great because while everyone there enjoyed the movie, they were still brutal about its flaws and they made you realise them. You will never hear anyone else say "I fucking loved this movie, 5/10" other than Mauler, because he is remarkably unbiased.
When hating on Marvel was still controversial, ripping apart Multiverse of Madness was necessary, it served a purpose (plus it was one of the biggest movies of the year). Now though, I dont really see the point of ripping on The Marvels. Noone expected it to be good and it barely anyone saw it. It made no money. I would much rather hear their opinions on some better media, possibly see flaws that I didnt see initially or even see positive details that I didnt notice. The Arcane breakdown was great because it made it better in my eyes, because i didnt notice a lot of things that these guys did. But when there plotholes or contrivances, they didnt shy away from pointing them out.
Invincible and Xmen 97 are really big right now and I think it's high time we gave some praise to the rightdoers instead of only giving something attention when it's shit.
