As a Chrono Resurrection developer, thanks for mentioning our passion project! Thanks for getting the details right unlike IGN which said it was due for PSP where we couldn't even figure out where they got that info from. Chrono Trigger 64 never got past a concept though I did make most of the soundtrack for it (I still have it). Then Nathan contacted me saying he wanted to do it on GCN and Xbox/PC. The original design was pretty weird so I insisted they redesign and follow Toriyama's art style. They settled somewhere in the middle and I think it turned out great.
It was so sad what happened to the project, I was getting so excited and then Square's iron fist came crashing down. The work you all did on it was amazing and on-par, if not better than those found in Sqaure's own Cross.. guess they got mad since they were also porting trigger to DS :/

There’s not even a description to tell you the name of the game that’s currently playing, so not only is it unrelated, but you might not know it’s unrelated if you’ve never seen the game before. Very confusing, distracting, and lazy which is unfortunate as this is an interesting list I’ve never heard before.
I get that it's hard to come up with relevant footage when you are talking about a game that literally wasn't made, but I think they made a poor decision with forcing their filler footage to be from other 64 games. I can think of several games from other systems and eras that would have felt more relevant to the style of game they were describing. Talking about the Pickford brothers? Why not show footage of Plok? A re-imagining of an old arcade game? Why not show footage from the original arcade game? Some prolonged shots of the few pieces of artwork or screenshots they had would have also been better a better alternative.
_Chrono Resurrection_ being cut off at the knees by Square still angers me to this day! Not only because Nathan Lazur was clearly very talented and had so much passion for _Chrono Trigger_ , but if he was able to finish it I bet it would have been groundbreaking! I've talked to the guy before asking for the source code or a copy of the demo and he refuses to put it anywhere on the internet unfortunately. I know he's just avoiding legal trouble, but that sucks!
I feel the same way. It's way better than anything Square has done with CT since the DS rerelease, and even then... it was a rerelease, not a full blown remake like this. I hold very little respect for Square Enix just for this and still not doing anything under Mario RPG. Not that I follow much of what Square does...
He could change the title and some character skins and finish it. I’m sure it would still do really well on Steam. Fans get a good Chrono Trigger-like game and he makes some money from it.

Infogrames would also buy up Goodtimes Interactive then change their name to Atari, only to go bankrupt every time somebody opened up a fridge before finding business making (or working with) Kickstarter campaigns that fail after a stint working with Flowplay on casino games.
It's pretty stupid that an error in carts bought caused the cancellation of a well-received game. It's good, it's unique, it has characters that could've been made memorable in future titles without the limitations of a shot-in-the-dark N64 game, and it just got killed by Hasbro's own incompetency. Don't punish the creators of a successful product because *you* didn't consider how stupid buying almost triple the amount of copies you wanted/expected from them is, without them even contributing to that error

I haven't gone in depth over Crave Entertainment's game, but if I had to guess I would say Project Cairo was either a Spawn licensed game or something derived from that franchise; the popular comic book artist and the british fantasy writer being Todd McFarlane and Neil Gaiman. This would explain why the project fell apart since, other than the N64's lackluster sales for RPGs, it was during that period (the early 2000s) that Gaiman and Todd would go to court over the license of Miracleman
You know whenever I hear developers talk about their cancelled or failed projects I hear a lot more self reflection, while a lot of companies try and blame everything but themselves and their product. Developers: "well I was inexperienced and we should have controlled our scope better, etc etc." Companies: "uhhh.....clearly this genre is dying, uhhh the woman on the box art was not marketable, uhhh I wasn't loved as a child"

Think about it The stardust crusaders we're on a mission to Cairo, Egypt JJBA is a major manga/comic book license with a popular creator Anime art-style (yeah, I know the anime started in 2012 but it's one of the closest things to manga) Just an idea I though would share, since I'm pretty sure not many anime/manga have something to do with Cairo. I haven't gone in depth over Crave Entertainment's game, but if I had to guess I would say Project Cairo was either a Spawn licensed game or something derived from that franchise; the popular comic book artist and the british fantasy writer being Todd McFarlane and Neil Gaiman. This would explain why the project fell apart since, other than the N64's lackluster sales for RPGs, it was during that period (the early 2000s) that Gaiman and Todd would go to court over the license of Miracleman

You know whenever I hear developers talk about their cancelled or failed projects I hear a lot more self reflection, while a lot of companies try and blame everything but themselves and their product.
Developers: "well I was inexperienced and we should have controlled our scope better, etc etc."
Companies: "uhhh.....clearly this genre is dying, uhhh the woman on the box art was not marketable, uhhh I wasn't loved as a child"
