To be fair to Willow, she didn't intend for them ALL to lose their memories so completely, that just happened when the spark from the fireplace caught all the extra Lethe's bramble that was still on the hearth. But that's the only "good" thing I can say about her spell; it was still selfish, dangerous, and unbelievably stupid. Tara had no choice but to leave at that point; it was entirely Willow's fault.

Remember that episode in "Restless" where Xander was dreaming about Giles and Spike on a swing set and Giles said, "Spike is like a son to me"? I think Spike was wearing the same outfit.
