The connection is because of BTS and ARMY. You have found a family here. I've only been a part of this journey for less than four years, but I can tell you it has changed my life! I am stronger, braver, kinder, and much more hopeful because BTS found me. We are global family, and I will be ARMY for the rest of my days. Thank you for showing our boys some love. 💜

You just made me cry! This is exactly me! Having BTS in my life has definitely changed me. I am able to be more empathetic towards people and see them for themselves without comparing them to other people. I strongly believe that BTS has a higher purpose in this world. They can actually affect meaningful change without overtly trying to. By knowing them and loving them you start to be a better person. I guess love is a very powerful thing and because you have their love you want to spread it to other people.

Todo empezó con JK y su canción Standing Next to you. Y él me llevó a BTS.

"A dancer dies twice, and the first death is always the more painful" - Quote by Martha Graham. RM wrote this song and he did watch Black Swan the movie and was inspired by it. He cried when writing it. It's about BTS's fear of losing their love/passion for their music. RM is basically a poet, but they've been writing their music since the beginning. And you are right about not knowing what to expect from them, but what you can expect is genuine art and beautiful music and lyricism.

  • @zero0clock

You understood this 100%! In retrospect after Festa 2022 when they announced the beginning of Chapter 2, (solo work & military before reuniting) I believe that Several songs on this album deal with the fact that they lost focus and inspiration and needed time to rest and reflect on their own before coming back together stronger than ever after the military. This embodies the Karl Jung’s psychological concept of Shadow, the dark part of your personality. From the album Map of the Soul 7 in 2020 that covers Shadow and Ego. The previous album was Map of the Soul- Persona. They were supposed to do a big world tour in 2020 to promote this album, then take a break for solo work and military service before reuniting. But Covid happened in early 2020 after they started promoting the album with this song and O.N., with 3 MV’s shot in LA California. Plans changed. Their big tour was cancelled. This led to Dynamite, the “pandemic album” BE, Butter, Permission to Dance (PTD), 2 Grammy nominations, the PDT tour in Soeul, LA& Vegas, their anthology album Proof. They finally started solo work one by one in late 2022 through late 2023 and the last 4 enlisted in December 2023. Jin comes back this June 12!!! Jhope in October and the rest in June 2025. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

@@AlteredChat It is also very helpful to watch the introduction to Map of the Soul, a rap song by RM called 'Persona'. Follow the MV with the explanation that is found on YT channel DKDKTV because the meaning is much deeper than the lyrics.....as is in other videos, always check for the explanation by a Korean. 'Persona' is based on Carl Jung's theory by the same name....the struggle to accept all parts of one's self.

Jimin, who does the solo dances studied Kendo and has a black belt in Taekwondo. He also studied contemporary dance. As you continue your BTS journey, you'll see that he combines the two in his dances in the group choreography and his solos. Please watch the 2018 MMA (Melon Music Awards) show to see Jimin's solo dance that was captivating and is widely praised and talked about to this day. It is a work of art! Jimin is a contemporary dancer but he is also a martial arts genius. He started when he was young and wanted to be like a one piece character so his parents sent him to learn Taekwondo (has a black belt), later he took up Hapkido while with a friend in Seoul, for some reason, I don't know if it was during his Taekwondo or his Hapkido training he has also picked up Capoeira training, that is evident when you watch the later part of Black Swan. That flip on one foot and spiral are both Capoeira moves, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.
In any case Black Swan was part of their 2020 album titled 7 and that was to be their swan song before they went into the military and by that time they had been on tour and busy with albums and end of the year award shows and tv shows for 7 years. They were exhausted and were ready to stop and start their military training. So this song talks about how exhausted they were and how they felt that no matter how exhausted they were they were asked to do one more album, at this time they had an album they were going to release in Japan called The Journey and one more song, and one more song. In February they put out 2 singles ON and Black Swan after having been on the road for 7 years, made 14 albums, for at least 96 songs, (they now have 230 in 2024), 5 concert tours, 4 fan meet up tour, one joint tour, 5 showcases, 8 concerts, not to mention the end of the year award shows.
This song I think forms a very solid place for them to feel like they can say we are tired, we want to rest

I don't want to speak on behalf of anybody, but I honestly can't even count how many times I've seen that video through reactors, it's got to be in the high hundreds by now. One of my favourite things as ARMY is watching people discover them and learn how different the reality is to their pre-conceptions. I don't know if this is true but this came out as their career was hitting newer and newer levels so maybe this was kind of them feeling the pressure to be perfect, being a kpop idol (that's what kpop performers are called) etc and hoping it didn't squash their love of music and performing.

Just a few hours ago, I came across a new pair of reactors who totally did not get Black Swan and it was upsetting that one of them even called the lyrics “lazy writing”. Having you react this way totally made my day and I am happy to have subscribed. Once you see the guide to Bangtan 7, you will have a deeper connection to these guys and why ARMY will always be around to protect them.
There are other guides that complement The Guide to Bangtan 7 since no one docu video captures everything. The Guide introduces the members one by one. I have a few other guides to suggest you watch in between reacting to their songs:

BTS Hardships 2013-2021 by xCeleste (more details on their struggles so you understand that the industry was not in their favor at all and they literally struggled all the way up)
The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS by Rice Squad (more focus on what they had achieved)

    Thanks for reacting!
Their is another reactor that was reacting to this song, but based on the comments (I didn’t watch due to what the comments were saying) the reactors said something along the lines that this song was poorly written & has lame lyrics (especially with the yeah yeah yeah, & bump bump bumps, etc)… They are so ignorant & really didn’t read the lyrics.
Thank you for your incite & recognize the beautiful lyrics & the art of MV & dancing. 💜
P.S. if you notice throughout the MV there are shadows dancing around on their own. This song is in their album Map of The Soul 7 which shares their feelings of where they are at with their fame & was inspired Carl Yung which talks abt Persona, Shadow, Persona (which all three have songs in the album they are solo unit songs in the album).
Edit: since you like rock you might like:
    -Persona
    -Shadow
    -Dionysus
    -Fake Love
    -Danger
    -Boy in Luv
-Run BTS (don’t get confused with their song called Run)

This has been explained by a lot of ppl in other reaction videos but yes, your interpretation is correct and the song is inspired by Martha Graham's (the dancer) quote, "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful". Similarly, BTS likens their creative passion for their music and their art dying out to a first death. This quote was mentioned at the beginning of the MV/art film for the orchestral (instrumental) version of this song. (There is a short art film for this orchestral version with contemporary dancers (MN Dance company) doing a brilliant dance performance.)

Glad your family doing well. I can't wait for your reaction to Bangtan 7, it's such a journey that video. And it has snippets of songs that maybe you'll be interested to hear/watch (many with the tittle, but some of then only with the instrumental like ambience, so if you are interested in those ones, ask for the titles).
Maybe it could be a good idea to have a notebook to make notes of those songs.

I love your reactions and i think it will help you form a bond knowing what these men went through to get to where they are now. To know them more personally. Especially with your empathy it will help you realize how deep their music is and their trials etc. The guide is longer. However, all of us ARMY can watch others react to it over and over. The common response for new reactors whlatching the guide is.. at the end of the guide is.. is that it.. its over? Wow that went quickly. 💜 thank you again for ahowing them and their art the respect that it deserves!

    Borahae 💜

Kpop is not a genre actually, it's an industry because groups can choose whatever genre they want. I know you can listen to like one or two songs from a singer or group and get the gist of their sound but with BTS, their discography is so varied that you need to listen to a variety of the music to get who they are.
    Rayna said on 1/29/22
The first thing to understand is, that "K-Pop" is not really just a genre, it's more a whole industry..
As SUGA (one of the BTS members) once said:
"I’m a little careful to talk about K-pop as a genre, because I don’t want to be defining Kpop as a genre. I’m a little bit wary of that, but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.' K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”
BTS is more than just K-Pop.
There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists in BTS.
Also I recommend you some songs, that show their diversity:
    - ON Kinetic Manifesto Film (Music Video)
    - Blood, Sweat & Tears (Music Video)
    - Blue & Grey (MTV Unplugged)
    - Dis-ease (Lyric video)
    - Magic Shop (Live)
    -Run BTS (dance practice)
    only the rapline:
    - Outro: Tear (Live)
    - UGH (Lyric Video)
    - Cyphers 1-4 (Lyric Video) & Cypher Medley
    only the vocal line:
    - The Truth Untold (Live)
    - House of Cards (Live)
    - Dimple (Live)
I was also never a boyband kinda girl... My taste is/was more stuff like Disturbed, Papa Roach, Flogging Molly etc., until I found them and I'm so glad I did.
    😁👍💜
Just a note: sites like DOOLSETBANGTAN and GENIUS lyrics genius.com/search?q=BTS are the best sites for BTS lyrics. lyricism is a very important aspect of BTS' artistry.
I recommend doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/ for lyrics, as the translator actually takes the time to translate the songs correctly, as well as explain things like wordplay and context. doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com

It's funny you caught on to the dance style, Jimin trained 8 years in kendo, hapikdo and taekwondo, he's a black belt

They write and also produce almost all their songs and are heavily involved in everything from the concept to the performance and always say their own story that's what makes bts different from other kpop groups and are so popular. You understood the song reallly well I guess all artists can relate and understand the depth. ALso it's part of their map of the soul:7 album which is a continuation of their trilogy album map of the soul: persona and shadow and is related to carl jung's theory of self. It's very interesting and you can check it out if you'd like.

It's always kind of amazing to me how many reactors don't understand the lyrics of this song, but you got it immediately...absolutely hit the nail on the head.
The dancing looks different becuse the other ones you've watched are more hiphop dances whereas this one is contemporary dance. Jimin, the one who had all the solo dances in the MV, majored in contemporary dance, so he really got to shine here. He is also a martial artist! So sharp catch there...he often infuses influences from both into his dancing.

And even if many don’t speak Korean Army like doolset and other amazing translators help understand their beautiful words and deliver their messages in even more detail♡ Have fun discovering BTS!

They all released solo albums before going into the military. They all have their own unique sound and taste, which you can hear more in the solo work. You also have not watched a live performance, which they are even better live.
