I've got a 760 I bought back when I was in high school. Wooden stock and forearm. Still shots great!

You are right in that the 760 is a smooth bore. Meaning, you can shoot steel bbs in it without having to worry about damaging the rifling. So, you can shoot bbs OR pellets without worry. there are also rifled long airguns that can shoot both. But, I stay away from bbs in my rifled airguns, as most people think the bbs will damage the rifling and degrade pellet accuracy. The drawback to a Crosman 760 (or Daisy Model 35) is that you will not get as good of accuracy from pellets due to the smooth bore barrel. I found, when I had the Daisy Model 35, that it did fine out to about 10 yards with pellets. Not as good as my best air rifles, but not bad.
There is also a couple places your 760 needs to be lubed. One is the felt ring that moves up and down in the pump tube when you pump up the pressure. Also, many airguns have a tiny o'ring at the front area of the bolt to help seal. The 760 may not have that o'ring, so you may just need to oil that felt ring. Don't use anything other than Crosman Pellgunoil (which is very spendy for the amount they give you), OR, you can use either a 20 or 30 weight NON-detergent motor oil. The detergent additives have stuff in them that can damage rubber o'rings. But, a quart of non-detergent oil will probably last you for 10 years.
The 760 is a cool airgun for a very low price. Anyone can afford one. With the price of smokeless powder burning ammo, an airgun makes total sense to use as a way to shoot and practice all te same principles, and do it in your own yard, or even in your home is you set up properly. And .22 long rifle ammo is often rare and expensive. Amazon right now has the Crosman hollow point pellets in .177 caliber for about $6.30 for a tin of 500. Nuff said!
Always wear safety glasses when shooting, especially steel bbs, as they often richochet.
The 760 can provide a lot of fun shooting, and cam even take small birds, squirrles, and pests like rats, if you use pellets and maybe 8 pumps, and sight it in well. I use a Crosman 1377 modded a little for shooting rats in our chicken coop at night. The 1377 is a rifled multi pump air gun also, and it does the job.
There are folks that are heavily into airguns, and various types of competition. Some of those high end guns can easily run well over $1000.00. And, in England, airguns are very popular due to their more restrictive gun laws. Farmers sometimes high (or it's done for free) airgunners to try to control the rat populations on their farms at night. These shooters often have high tech night vision scopes and devices, and really get the job done.
And, you are right about velocity ratings from most airgun makers. They use alloy pellets that are also much lighter, hence the higher velocities. The problem is , most alloy pellets won't group worth a darn, and if you want to hit your target, or take a head shot on a rat, you need all the help you can get. If your gun groups, say, into a half inch at 10 yards with a lead pellet, don't be surprised when you try an alloy pellet, to find your groups 3-6 inches, and at a different spot on the target.
Thanks for your 760 videos, and you, and your kids, will have a lot of fun with it.

Warning, 10+ pumps with a pellet will go about 3-4 inches deep inside a person's arm from about 10 yards.

How do you slap hard with one of thos' M760's goosee'...well standard velocity 600, but a hevy pellet is alot slower anyways, so you can go up to 11 pump's, oiled cilender and lightly on barrol, 3 in 1' oil, 11 pump's won't hurt thos' vary much at all, as long as you don't do that alot alot'...you run a 13.4 g, H n N sniper mag .177 pellet...or 7.9 hp crs, is a vary consistent pellet,,,but like the bb is little different material tho, so it may hit harder with the bb acculy, I'm not shure don't quote me" on that' .. but they are rifled barrols...mabe not the old old ones idk', but most modern ones are ya' it will group pellets well ish'...BBs don't acculy group bad either, you can run them five round pellet mags with the 18 BB rounds in the chamber behind it, giveing it maximum capacity of 23 round's, light smooth ez fast pumping, as well'... aftermarket scope it, short rage 40mm hub even... whatever...it's a dove tale mount just don't over tork your mounts are plastic polimer it damage the mounts...just snug' is fine'...the scopes it comes with no good throw away' to small" had 4 or 5 of those growing up...made in USA...machine graded rifling I don't think so' like... standard rifleing I want to say... quarter, nickel size groups with BBS at 25 yard's ish' at 10 pumps power or penny and dime size groups with the right pellet at 25 ? ...this is a good video showing alot of rifle and stuff guy''... always shoot a can in your videos folks like see em shoot as well'...

I mean its a fine gun fir the price point. It does the trick. and i do like the pellet mag but with the fact that you gota pump and move it makes it kind of pointless cause its pretty much as fast to load 1 by 1 once you get the rythm down. Then with the fact that its smooth bore i really prolly would just stick to Bbs anyway to be honest. So with all that being said to consider just take my advice and pay the 5-10$ more and get the Daisy 880 its a much better gun. plastic also but really sturdy plastic. it can shoot bbs and pellets up to around 750-850fps depending and has a nice RIFLED barrel so id stick with pellets personally... Also a super great thing about it is that the pumping arm actually has a handle to where you put your fingers thru so you dont end up getn a painful blood blister from getting your skin pinched when pumping. (If you owned one of these guns in the video you know exactly what i mean because if youve spent alot of time shooting it im sure at one point you pinched some skin and that crap hurts!!!) for the lil 5-10bucks more its totally worth it! Just get the 880 from Daisy. Youll be glad you did. Its a much better, more powerful, better made, more accurate gun.

I just bought a 760 from walmart and it's a POS. Didn't even get through the 50 bb's in the box before the bolt broke. Had to twist the barrel and bend the back sight to get it true from left to right. Took it back. I got lucky, walmart does not accept bb gun returns, but I got mine online and started the return there and they had to take it. I got a Daisy 880 and it's a better bb gun in about every way except reservoir, Daisy 50, Crossman 1000, but 50 solid good shots are better than 1000 maybe shots.

I've been looking at plinking type airguns for fun shooting in the back garden and this Crosman 760 Pumpmaster is the kind of thing I had in mind, BUT is it's £90 (plus delivery) in the UK (~$109!) which for something made of mostly flimsy looking plastic seems way too much. For the same money here you can buy a base level break-barrel spring gun made mostly of steel with a rifled barrel and wooden stock so although I'd like to have a 760 for the versatility and fun aspects I won't be buying one.

theres a little thumb switch by the stalk above the handle. you can have bbs and pellets at the same time In the gun. just make sure the switch is in middle position so the bbs won't load with the pellets it's happened to me it's a pain tryna it take out. hope it helps

The very loquacious instructor finally gets to loading the damn thing at 14:05. This is the only video that I could find on the more “modern” 760. All the other ones have a filling hole on the left side of the firearm. I was going crazy trying to figure out where the loading hole was until I saw this video.
Thanks. Now I’m going to clear me some chickens in my island paradise.
    🌷🌴✍🏼
Ten minutes later ... It’s a cheap firearm and it’s okay. I also have a Red Ryder rifle and much prefer that firearm, especially the loading process. Thanks again.
💐🕵🏼‍♂️🏝One quick hunt later ... this thing is a piece of shit. I had an impossible time getting the bbs to be in line to load it with the handle. Moreso, for chicken clearing, the 5-10 pumps may give it more velocity but chickens are long gone by the noise it makes. I would have to load it at the ole’ coffee station (dealing with the crappy lining bbs device) and pump it before going out to use it. I’m confident in the fact that it does have more velocity than the Daisy ... but when the going gets tough, it will jam and make more noise than a soca band. Chickens have an extremely good sense of hearing. Thanks again.

Your old model with the short rectangular pump was model 760. So named for its maximum velocity - 760fps. It was only made for two years.
Yeah, that's a cheap end model - not rifled. All their other ones are.
