They're out of control ▪︎ Rabbit Hunting Air Rifle

  • The rabbits are out of control on this small acreage.
With horses, dwellings and an adjacent highway. Safety is as always, paramount.
I'll be running the FX Impact M3 air rifle chambered in .22 cal, Vipertek carbon fibre suppressor and Saber Tactical arca rail.
Thermal scope of choice is the new HikMicro Panther PQ50L V2, shooting Cometa Exact 18.13gr pellets @ 890fps.
As always, extremely happy with the repeatable accuracy from my FX impact and the image out of the new thermal scope is incredible.
For those interested, rabbits are not native to Australia and are considered an invasive pest. When left unmanaged rabbits have the ability to breed up in huge numbers very quickly. They live underground in burrows which pose hazards for livestock, people and pets, resulting in large amounts of erosion.
Final tally for the evening was 67 rabbits all of which were collected.
Was a very enjoyable evening with a great outcome and grateful property owner.

Brought back memories of a trip out past Lithgow, we filled the back of the cruiser level with the top of the tray and ran out of ammunition. We called in at the house to say thanks and when the cocky saw how much damage we'd done he gave us a brick of .22's and a stack of 12g to keep going. You'd have had a happy customer that night!

That was really epic culling Rod! It’s amazing how that little lead tablet can act as a performance enhancer for the gymnasts amongst the rabbit population. My dad and the Butcher down the road used to go out in Western NSW in the seventies on their rabbit adventures, in a weekend they’d fill to the brim the back of a Holden ute with rabbits. No coolers back then, and bring them back to Parramatta and sell them by the pair in the butcher shop, and sell the lot!

When you consider a rabbit can have 3-4 litters per year with an average of 5 per litter… and rabbits can breed as young as 2 months - I would suggest that 2 rabbits could produce twice as many rabbits as you shot in this video in 1 year.

    Amazing scope Rod.
Zoom is so smooth , brings them right in.
    Super accurate rifle and shooter.
Not to be a pain in your butt Rod ,
i would really love to see you standing side on to your rifle
    filming it
    on a pitch black night
    , just as if
i was standind next to you at night in the paddock
    and say to the viewers
this is how it looks from a bystanders perspective at night
then pan over with the camera and look down the scope to reveal how
dark turns into daylight , then pan back into blackness.
Im sorry if that is long winded but i really want to see how it looks from a bystanders perspective.
I hope I explained it well enough to you so you get my concept.
You are so SKILLED at your work , i,m sure you could do a excellent job at filming my idea .
