“Tens of feet” was an intentional in-world choice by Brandon. The Rosharan number system is based around 10. Even their calendar is organized by tens. Much like someone in Europe would think in meters instead of feet, someone from Roshar would think in tens not dozens. This video was super fun, thank you Merphy and Korey!
Literally came here to type that. Brandon's very specific about his numerology in the Cosmere, there's some very specific importance in certain numbers. 16 in Mistborn/Scadrial stuff, 10 in Stormlight Archive/Roshar stuff, etc.
Aww Merphy is so tricksy!! That line from WoK is the Prelude to the entire series, which is not very recognizable. Then the Prologue to the book is 'Szeth wore white' which is very recognizable.
By the established rules, it was 4 for Merphy and 3 for Korey. Merph wins. But Korey did put on the better performance considering he got close on 2 books he didn't even READ.
For sure, It should be „tens of meters“ or „a dozen feet“. No mixing needed. As usual, whatever the score in the end is. The underdog, Corey, wins. Always. No questions asked. No need to count points. He wins!
I got zero points. I thought one was CS Lewis because you said "Perelandra", but I haven't read that one either, so. Old fantasy is my thing, not so much the current stuff. Also, the man always wins. It's a natural law. ; )
These games are my favorite! Just an all around great time! I love seeing how much you two love just being goofy together and not taking stuff so seriously 🤩
No probably about it, tens of feet doesn't roll nearly as well as dozens so this is clearly a deliberate choice. And that should have been a massive enough hint to get this.
I think there might be a small handful of books where I could recall the first line. I just started Service Model and I'm only 31 pages in and can't recall the first line. I think the final score was 6.75 to 5.5 or something. Korrey wins again.
Thank you for introducing me to Mapping the Interior! The first line sent me running to request it from the library 📚 I’m excited to read it! You two are a funny duo!
I guessed Annihilation correctly! I just read it for the first time because of you. It was amazing. When I finished it I immediately started it over and read it again!
i can't believe i missed this video when it came out. i did very poorly, i still have so many books that i need to read. but if we tally by the ones that i have read then i got half of them
One point for The Final Empire (which I actually just started reading about a week ago). Half a point for guessing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So I got a total of 1.5 points!
Honestly Merphy is right about the points, and I think on this one she might even have done better, even if she didn't technically win. Korey's performance was not as impressive as usual
I was just thinking about how the my brain couldn’t wrap itself around the very first sentence of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, which I’m reading currently
Philip dragash audiobook of lord of the rings is a masterpiece. Movie soundtrack, voices like the movie for each character, ambient sounds (wind, footsteps, river close by, doors openning etc). Its amazing. Ive reread lotr 4x and the 4 times i used it. Its like watching a movie of the full book
I bet 'tens of feet' was a deliberate choice! The number ten is very important to this world, so actually 'tens of feet' makes much more sense to me than 'dozens'.
The last part had me laughing out loud. Korey didn’t get the points but he sure is darn persuasive we’ll give him all the points haha Sorry Merphy Also, I need this kind of banter in my romcom 😄
You gotta give him the Backman piont. I mean, he guessed the book as soon as you read him the first line. Wasn't that the challenge? P.S. I love it when you guys are on camera together 😊
Korey: "I guessed Stormlight!" Merphy *screeching*: "THAT'S NOT THE SAME!" I get it Merphy, my husband is a sneaky man as well 😂 All the novels he's ever read is because I read them to him before bed. If I didn't do it, though he loved the shared experience with me (and my soothing voice lol), he would not pick up a book for himself. Maybe only through audiobook, and even then... 👀
You are aloud to use the prologue if it's actually a real prologue, which the Prelude to the Stormlight Archive is. You should not be allowed to use Tolkien's fake prologues. That is not the first line of Fellowship. It's just not. This, as always, was hilarious.
How can someone look so much like a wizard without wearing a single piece of wizard-looking clothing?!
It's a matter of many factors... but mostly beard pointiness
I’d argue a t-shirt that says regular forces is undercover wizard attire
He needs a pointed hat with WIZZARD bedazzled onto it. He gives me Rincewind vibes. Much better luck romantically, obviously.
Its the beard!
You should read the Black Ocean books (esp. Galaxy Outlaws) by J.S. Morin. Then you'll understand why.
"Ah, Taylor Swift" 😂

It’s how you say it in Japanese, too.
Literally came here to type that. Brandon's very specific about his numerology in the Cosmere, there's some very specific importance in certain numbers. 16 in Mistborn/Scadrial stuff, 10 in Stormlight Archive/Roshar stuff, etc.
The pack of dinosaurs trying to hide this one book 😂
Nah he deserves a point for concerning hobbits. Thats the name of the chapter! I myself didnt catch what it was 😂
It makes sense Korey didn't realise "Ash fell from the sky" is from the prologue, because it's also the fist line in Chapter 1 :D
I was hoping to hear the greatest opening line in fantasy:
"The building was on fire, and it wasn't my fault."
Soo many good Dresden quotes 😄
I always forget about that line, and then I re-read that book and have to spend 5 minutes laughing before I can keep reading.
This is my favourite opening line of all time!!
I already want to read this series, and now I GOT to. I need to know more lol.
Merphy and Korey playing book games is my Roman Empire.
A revolutionary and absolutely jaw dropping performance by Korey! He continually amazes us all with his near flawless knowledge of all literature.
We, the audience, are the real winners.
Oh sweet! The Merphy & Korey videos are always such wonderful chaos
My ears were undulating from anticipation with each sentance, what a nice surprise is to guess books I only heard you talk about.
I love the massive thud when you put down The Lord of the Rings.
If anything, Korey deserves bonus points since he hadn't read some of the ones he got close to... 😊
Wow another Korey win! 🏆 Korey deserves another watch Merphy.😂
This was hilarious. Got the wrong number of books and didn't even know the rules or the names of the books and yet managed to be pure perfection.
Sorry Merph, Korey definitely won
😭
I love how competitive Merphy is and how chill Korey is. XD
😂😂😂😂 Korey's t-shirt is sending me
Even editing Murphy giving out to him 🤣🤣 "stop moving the book!!"
Aww Merphy is so tricksy!! That line from WoK is the Prelude to the entire series, which is not very recognizable. Then the Prologue to the book is 'Szeth wore white' which is very recognizable.
Merph = owned it; Korey = reality revisionist 😂
Death's End is tough. I listened to the audiobook for a while wondering if I was mistaken about that book being a sequel to the others.
By the established rules, it was 4 for Merphy and 3 for Korey. Merph wins.
But Korey did put on the better performance considering he got close on 2 books he didn't even READ.
This video made me smile so much. How can you two be so charming and endearing?
Merphy and her cute anger issues. 😁
Merphy playing smart “counting is hard” and at the end who will loose, Merph? 😂
I remember so well last time merphy hating on every single one of her favorite books 😂
For sure, It should be „tens of meters“ or „a dozen feet“. No mixing needed.
As usual, whatever the score in the end is. The underdog, Corey, wins. Always. No questions asked. No need to count points. He wins!
You guys are adorable, so I’m pretty sure you both won.
I love the videos of you two together. So much fun and such amazing banter
Using Corey’s point system I got them all correct!
Using Merphy’s point system I got maybe 5 of them…
I will always be a hype-man for Korey 🤣
Okay now I see it. Merphy definitely has been lifting weights.
Or just big books like that LotR print.
Yay another husband and wife video!!! Legit obsessed with these videos😂💗
Definitely impressive, Korey 👏
If someone indeed came to get this man, I’m sorry, but he’d never be returned.
Merphy and Korey are a chaotic good couple; and I am here for it. I always love when these two grace us with their presence on screen.
I saw cat ears: video is 10/10❤😂
Love your videos
your videos with Korey are SO GOOD... and btw, Korey definitely won. No doubts about that.
It's always a joy when you two are together in a video 😂❤
I got zero points. I thought one was CS Lewis because you said "Perelandra", but I haven't read that one either, so. Old fantasy is my thing, not so much the current stuff.
Also, the man always wins. It's a natural law. ; )
Y’all’s banter brings me joy 😂💕
I love every video with Korey in it. Your dynamic is fantastic!
Love every single video where both of you show up 🙌🧡🧡🧡
The two of you playing a silly game together is just comedy gold. 🤣
This was some wholesome chaotic fun. Y'all are adorable.
These games are my favorite! Just an all around great time! I love seeing how much you two love just being goofy together and not taking stuff so seriously 🤩
Great video Merph. You and Korey are really funny.
Oh I wish you would do the 1 star review challenge with Daniel again 🎉
i absolutely LOVE the videos of you two together, always sooooo fun to watch
It probably says tens of feet because Roshar is a very 10 based world (10 heralds, 10 fools, 10 orders of radiants etc).
No probably about it, tens of feet doesn't roll nearly as well as dozens so this is clearly a deliberate choice. And that should have been a massive enough hint to get this.
I genuinely just have fun watching the arguments 🤣
Loved that line from The Hobbit!😂
I think there might be a small handful of books where I could recall the first line. I just started Service Model and I'm only 31 pages in and can't recall the first line.
I think the final score was 6.75 to 5.5 or something. Korrey wins again.
Korey with another flawless performance, as usual.
Also: These fun videos with both of you are just always the best.
I find how Merphy opens books very distressing
You two are so much fun to watch! Great video!
Thank you for introducing me to Mapping the Interior! The first line sent me running to request it from the library 📚 I’m excited to read it!
You two are a funny duo!
His confidence is something... Lol!
Ten is a sacred number on Roshar, so obviously it's not dozens :>
Funny that I watched this video on my phone while watching The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition on my TV.
I guessed Annihilation correctly! I just read it for the first time because of you. It was amazing. When I finished it I immediately started it over and read it again!
"It's in the ballpark."
"Which is *not the game*!!!"
Made me snort laugh 🤣🤣🤣
They are definitely best friends 🥰❤
I don’t expect that “the building was on fire, and it was not my fault” will make it in here.
i can't believe i missed this video when it came out. i did very poorly, i still have so many books that i need to read. but if we tally by the ones that i have read then i got half of them
One point for The Final Empire (which I actually just started reading about a week ago).
Half a point for guessing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
So I got a total of 1.5 points!
This could be a fun game for next time. Guessing the book based on the front/back cover blurbs
Honestly Merphy is right about the points, and I think on this one she might even have done better, even if she didn't technically win. Korey's performance was not as impressive as usual
Merphy's always the winner
Common Korey W. The man doesn't miss. He also doesn't math.
I heard Annihilation as an audiobook while I was having a fever and half-conscious. Little did I know what a setup that was. It was a trip.
I think Merphy's performance was more impressive.
korey is literally the best at everything. 0 death. 100% win rate.
I was just thinking about how the my brain couldn’t wrap itself around the very first sentence of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, which I’m reading currently

Merphy was great but her husband was even more impressive
"I knew Vandermeer was one of your things." 😂
The little dinosaurs...
I bet 'tens of feet' was a deliberate choice! The number ten is very important to this world, so actually 'tens of feet' makes much more sense to me than 'dozens'.
counting is hard... LMAO
The last part had me laughing out loud. Korey didn’t get the points but he sure is darn persuasive we’ll give him all the points haha Sorry Merphy Also, I need this kind of banter in my romcom 😄
Korey is his own hype man!
Mistborn 1 is totally a real title!😊
Y’all are adorable
love the shirt Korey~ g'luck!!! (watch out for Merphy's cheating)
you guys tied!!!!
I love Korey's shirt!
You gotta give him the Backman piont. I mean, he guessed the book as soon as you read him the first line. Wasn't that the challenge?
P.S. I love it when you guys are on camera together 😊
16:43 I was so caught off by that frustrated growl
Such a fun video!! 😂
Korey always impresses and only wins!!! 16:40 needs to be a gif 😆
Korey: "I guessed Stormlight!"
Merphy *screeching*: "THAT'S NOT THE SAME!"
I get it Merphy, my husband is a sneaky man as well 😂 All the novels he's ever read is because I read them to him before bed. If I didn't do it, though he loved the shared experience with me (and my soothing voice lol), he would not pick up a book for himself. Maybe only through audiobook, and even then... 👀
I' mad I didn't get BSC. That's my Abercrombie favourite book
I believe that Korey won this game, because he only missed one question.
I love the shade !
Have to admit Korey’s performance was impressive so he gets my vote 😂 sorry Merphy
I feel like Korey gets a negative point for thinking the lord of the rings one was the hobbit because the hobbit’s first line is so distinctive lol
You are aloud to use the prologue if it's actually a real prologue, which the Prelude to the Stormlight Archive is. You should not be allowed to use Tolkien's fake prologues. That is not the first line of Fellowship. It's just not.
This, as always, was hilarious.
Taylor Swift?! I spat out my water teheheheee, that was hilarious
I love when Korey wins
