  • Solo BJJ drills are no replacement for the real thing. But solo BJJ drills can be a great way to get some movement in when a partner is not available. Maybe when you're at home or unable to roll.
In this video I share 11 solo BJJ drills you can do on a stability ball that will help build your guard passing game and hip movement.
You can also turn this into a solid stability ball workout by performing each drill for 45 seconds to 1 minute and moving through each drill without rest. Then take a couple of minutes and then repeat if able.
I'm a big fan of movement so these drills are great for that.
I hope these drills help you with your BJJ and maybe sparks some ideas of your own!
    Thanks!

I was taking online classes from 9 - 5 so I was having to sit for long periods at a time. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxEhgucmXpcAGYh8fatGFEnOK2V97VIwhG After the first day in a regular table chair, I thought about an exercise ball and ordered one that night. It came the next day! My hips, legs, back and butt couldn't have been happier! I'm almost 5'11" and I ordered the largest size and it was perfect for me. I also have RLS (restless legs) and this helped so much.Pumping it up was a little challenging and definitely gives you a good arm workout, (I'm a 62 yo woman) but it's very doable. Getting the tape centered with the hole to inflate it and then getting the pin back in was also a little tricky. But I love my new "chair" and I love the torquiose color. Hopefully it will also get used for exercise. 😁

Even today this vid is excellent, it took me years to realize that my balance sucks and I need to improve this area and the body forms of BJJ. The last weeks I work hours and hours with and on different size of stability balls, first to improve the balance and then drilling your exercices. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Toreando Pass (inside foot first)
    Ball Sprawls
    Toreando Pass with Mule Kick
    Cartwheel Pass with Sprawl
Leg Swing with Hip Drop (Disco Pass)
Back Step with Constant Upper Body Pressure
Hip Swivels (one knee on ball)
    Back Step with Knees

This is great, particularly helpful during the lockdown, thank you! I can easily see where some of moves have clear applications, but am struggling to visualise how to use the leg swing with hip drop. Could you name some techniques that use this movement please? Thank you

Some passes use that movement to clear the top leg and drive it to the side

I tried to do it at home today. I did first 4-5 moves 100 times each. I want to ask you how often should I do this drills? Maybe I should try to do one move in one minute? And if I master this drills is it gonna help me when I roll then? Thanks

I’m a white belt and I can’t really understand where some of these movements apply, should I just drill them anyway?

    • @Chewjitsu
      @Chewjitsu  4 года назад

Some of them are specific passing drills. 1 is a takedown counter. All of them contribute to better hip control and movement. The better control you have of your body and the more mobile it is, the better your BJJ can be. Because BJJ is just movement when you break it down.

Try doing each drill for 30-45 seconds and make a full pass through. Repeat 2-3 times if possible.
