Every time I'm on home time I just check my truck into the dealership. So if you know sone ppl that can turn a wrench post them up

That’s awesome to hear! I’ve been so interested in trucking, just never went ahead with it yet. I’m tired of working in a factory, and ready for something new. I love driving, and not worried about driving in big cities or anything. I just turned 32 back a few months ago, so I’m old enough to drive a truck. What’s the best way to get into trucking? I’ve talked to places like CR England.

My wife and I have been running our one business together for the last six years so you spend a lot of time with one another. Now that we have started a trucking company I’m spending a lot of time with my son as well. And every hour that I’m awake every day trying to make decisions for two different companies. And trying to kickstart this RUclips channel is basically like running three different businesses.

Just my 2 cents here take it for what ever you all think it’s worth. I’m fairly new to the business and definitely still learning the ups and downs the rights and the wrongs and always learning from everybody’s opinions weather I agree with them or not. I agree the numbers don’t entirely make since but again I’m still learning my self. Also does come across in the beginning they are team driving but if you watch it to the end you will know she doesn’t drive. Again numbers don’t add up IMO ! and all the numbers are not there. I bought a new truck and trailer last year running Hotshot car hauling new equipment w warranties $100,000 investment. and out of warranty my first year at 100k miles. Purchased an extended warranty for additional 4K 2 years unlimited miles. Sounded great at the time. Really wanted a semi as I’m otr and was tired of sleeping in the back of my truck. I decided to put my cab n chassis and trailer for sale and bought a 2017 Freightliner (turned in Ryder truck) 850k miles paid 28k with a 1 year 100k mile warranty. And a 2016 trailer allowing me to haul 2 to 3 more cars. Cost of the setup now $75,000 but with a sleeper for better quality of life OTR. And bigger trailer producing higher revenue. Sounds or sounded great to me at the time and honestly I was nervous about the miles on the Freightliner but coming from Ryder the maintenance records was impressive to say the least so I took the chance. 20k miles later a bad radiator and a check engine light for a after treatment code knowing derate was coming soon and leaking coolant on a Friday night I parked and spent $650 tow bill to closest shop that said they could get the truck in on Monday to my surprise since the first 7 shops I called couldn’t even take the truck in for at least a week to 2 weeks so Monday sounded like a life saver and it was in the since my down time could have been much longer. Now I own my truck and trailer but
Stranded from Friday to Monday with undelivered load
    Tow bill $650
    radiator $3000
    NOX sensor $850
    Hotel $600
Lost REVENUE being down over a week $7500
    APPROX TOTAL $12,500 including revenue.
Now with all that being said I think from what I’m hearing being down for over a week is fairly normal and often times much longer. I’m now considering a long term Lease from Penske. Expensive yes BUT is it really after you break down the “POTENTIAL” expenses over 5 years.
PENSKE LEASE (5 years) commitment brand new truck built to my specs only 10k down refundable at end of term assuming no damage beyond normal wear and tear
    $3500-4000 monthly INCLUDING INCLUDING
    mileage based on 120k annually
ALL MAINTENANCE oil changes, fuel filters, trans service, diff services, tires, brakes etc etc etc... any and all brake downs road side service , tow service, any and all breakdowns are taken care of in a timely manner IN FACT what Penske seams to care about the most is making sure your back on the road making money as soon as possible because if the truck is not making money then there’s risk they may not get the truck payment so if truck can’t be fixed in 4 hours yes I said 4 hours they get you a loaner truck to drive for as long as it takes to get your truck back to you. So broken down any where any time the peace of mind of knowing I don’t have to stress about how much the repair will cost or how long of down time I would have with a new purchase under warranty assuming manufacturer doesn’t try to deny warranty claim for what ever reason I have no worries but maybe a day possibly 2 I guess depending on when the next truck shows up but from my research they have thousands of service shops and trucks to loan as a temporary replacement all over the country. Now add up your new or used truck purchase down payment, interest, ALL MAINTENANCE over 5 years, lost revenue due to down time divide by 60 months and I come real close to $4000 a month figuring on averages of coarse and estimated some breaking down even brand new semi trucks break down and yes warranty can be great if they cover and you just so happen planned to be home for a couple of weeks or on vacation and the down time and payments would have been there anyways but timing never works out that way. This was long I know but just wanted to put my thoughts out there to see what kind of feedback I get good or bad. Thanks for reading
