      The performance and ease of install on so many watercraft still makes it the best in that category. The power you get from the small package is impressive. The build quality is great and the replacement parts like props are cheap when needed. *I own another motor company in this space. • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Месяц назад

      A kayak can't go 5 to 10 times that. Kayaks are not planing hulls. 3-6mph is kinda considered medium to fast in the kayak motoring world. Bixpy will do up to 5-6mph on certain kayaks, but 4.5mph is more common in my experience. The benefit is it is a fully sealed system and can be fully submerged. You can't do that with trolling motors since water will run down shaft into motor and corrode....also smart motors will fry the brains/motherboards if wet.

    • @KayakDIY

      You aren’t wrong. Then again you would have a used Seadoo, no warranty, and likely a heavy raft with expensive future ahead of you. Better buy a roughly 1993 Seadoo. The newer ones are built terrible and that polytec hull I hate. Give me fiberglass hull that I can actually repair easily.

    I have been trying to decide which motor I want to get, it is either the epropulsion or the Bixby, I like the epropulsion because I think it will be more powerful in my Hobie PA14 which is a heavier kayak, especially with a live bait in a 5 gallon bucket, but I feel that Bixby has attachments so that I can put my motor on the ridder or in the foot pedal cassette or that cool long pole that you can steer with while sitting. Then, when you add the AUTOBOAT, that is all I could ask for!! I am looking to buy a bixby in the next couple of weeks.

    • @KayakDIY

      I’m running AutoBoat on my PA12 via modified aluminum Ketch bow plate mount. That has been my favorite setup ever. You could get new AutoBoat Smart Head system, LiTime 100ah 12v mini battery and basic trolling motor for less than Bixpy. Then you would have gps smart functions like routes and anchor mode. Plus the new AutoBoat smart head will have optional add-on fancy colored screen remote available for purchase by end of year as well. It is gonna be one hell of a sweet system. TBNation.net has them on preorder and discount code is KAYAKDIY. Preorders should ship by end of November to customers. Else if shopping Bixpy I think my link is Bixpy.com/kayakdiy

      @alaefarmestatesllc Год назад

      Bout 350

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Год назад

      They do a max of about 6-7mph on the best hydrodynamic watercrafts. On most large heavy & wide fishing kayaks they do around 4mph top. On long narrow touring hull kayaks they can hit 6mph. On lightweight inflatable sups they can do 5mph+.
      Where this product shines is it is very well sealed unlike trolling motors. You can throw this motor and battery in the water and it won’t damage it. Battery floats. All connections are watertight. Battery life is really good in lower speed settings and provides me all day runtime. Lastly, it just is super easy and clean to mount on any watercraft.
      The average pedal kayak with comfortable pedaling will do 3-3.5mph. If pedaling hard you can hit 5mph+ in short bursts. So a motor that gets you 3mph+ for long periods is pretty good. Kayaks are displacement hills so they aren’t designed typically for planing high speeds anyway.

    In our state, a motor on any watercraft means it has to get registered every year and display it's number on the bow. 1K up front (sales tax) and 150 yr here in IN on my efoil (same status)

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Год назад +1

      If you can itemize your watercraft/efoil to separate cost of board and the battery/motor wing that may help. Likely can just pay sales tax on the board. Technically that is what they would consider the vessel. The motor could be considered separate like on other boats/vessels. I imagine the motor and battery are the expensive part which jack up the sales tax. The yearly cost is high though for your state compared to states I have lived in.

    • @waymanbell
      @waymanbell Год назад +4

      Correcto, in Arkansas I don't need to register my 16 foot canoe but if I install Any king of motor on it or my 8 foot kayak I am then required to go down to the Revenue Office and pay an annual registration fee and put the numbers on my $200 kayak or canoe!! The Government has become disgustingly oppressive!

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  Год назад +1

      Definitely a quieter prop design. However, I feel at that size it would just be more to fail. The material would have thin spots if using a toroidal prop design. Also I question weeds getting jammed easier into toroidal prop with the housing cone. Definitely game changer on large boats. Just not sure it would produce enough benefit to Bixpy and would likely increase points of failure.
