i got to say it was pretty easy except for the old kwikset door knob had a slightly smaller hole thru the door than the new one so there was a lot of whittling away and a little hammering to get the new one in the hole.
Good video but unfortunately I didn't find what I was looking for. I am having a gard time lining up the internal "screw catches" on these dumb locks. I have installed probably 50 locks in my time and this has to be the dumbest design for a handle I have ever seen. Ugggg..great video though thank you for sharing
Great question! This is a kwikset knob. The key used must be a kwikset key. Most importantly, to rekey like I show in the video, you need to purchase or own a “kwikset smart key” knob. Not all kwiksets work like this.
These quit working after about a year. They quit retracting to the reset position. I installed several of them and they need attention after a year or two even with minimal use.
That was so cool. I think even I could do that. I need to get a front door and will be installing a new doorknob and deadbolt. I did get a kick out of how non-chalantly you crumpled up the how to install the door knob instructions and tossed them to the side
The instructions make this so much harder. They say to leave the bolts in and twist the ring to catch the bolts in a slot which is damn near impossible. I'm going to try it today with removing the bolts like you did.
@Ryan Agents I would remove the bolts and just line the holes up and screw them in. Much easier then doing that twisting bullshit. Its kind of tricky to get at the bolts with the screw driver but you can use your fingers or pliers to get it mostly in then tork it down with a screw driver.
Good resource! Just replaced exterior door knob for my Mom. Easy!
Glad it helped!! Thanks for watching- hope you subscribed ;)
The re-keying part is at approx 7:15
The keyway is upside down I think, I think there is a way to flip it 180. Not that it matters but I think its teeth up for cosmetic purposes.
I needed instructions for installing the dead bolt lock.

I have seen several vids about the Deadbolt, but until your vid, no one has even mentioned the door knob. Thanks for the video!
Glad to help!
I'll have to say, I was skeptical when I was looking at the unwrapping - slightly unsettling... But it worked like a charm, so kudos my friend!
Glad it helped! Pretty cool locks really! I like mine a ton! 👍🏼
I'm slow as a turtle in heat. The process seem rather simple to accomplish to change and replace a door look.
HAHAHAHA I love it! yeah its really simple

Does this work with any key or does your current key you already have for your home have to be Kwikset ?

HAHAHAHA yeah Instructions.... pshhhh haha I was surprised how easy this lock was to re-key! Makes life so nice!
Need to set the key hole 180 degrees. It is simple but do it before install.
Great point thanks!
*One key to rule them all* !!!! Ha ha!!! Your unboxing was better than I would have done.
But the screen doesn’t align properly...

i just bought this stupid ass thing today and am having the same issue. did you ever get it to work? i need guidance lol
