Thanks for that. I've always done very well on IQ tests, but not so well on mechanical things like this, This video enabled me to install the dead bolt lock in one day. There were just too many parts in the kit, and the instructions were not good enough for me.
I bought this kit and tried to install it tonight. Problem is my door has round holes and needs a "drive-in" latch with a round collar. The door knob came with one, however the deadbolt did not. This is an oversight as these come in a pack together. So now I am without a deadbolt. Kwikset does make round collar latches for this lock, but they are $22 a piece. That's half the price of the entire kit. I am pissed.
Excellent video!!! Question: I have a hollow door that opens to the garage. The fiber wood is destroyed, and I have nothing to screw the door locking plate into? How can I resolve this? Thank you in advance. David
I stupidly took off the screws, because I was so used to lining them up and installing them the regular way. That's why the damn interior knob keeps falling off, there's some kind of special latching device where you now have to turn and click. Why the hell did they do that?
I have a new quick set lever style door knob with dead bolt that was recently installed. I noticed yesterday that dead bolt handle inside has come off. I don’t see any set screws to tighten this. How do I tighten the interior deadbolt handle so it doesn’t continue to come off with no set screw.
huh, i wonder how that even works, like i'm assuming that smart key presses something to allow the lock to form the the new key, but still, very interesting
7:42 You might explain why you drilled part way, extracted the drill bit and then drilled the hole deeper (help clear the debris from the hole and drill bit to make further drilling easier).

I’m with you. The upside down down knob would drive me nuts. Great video as always.
This definitely helped clarify some things that the instructions left out, thanks!
Wow, I just learned something new. Thanks Matt. 🤩
There is a kwikset video that explains how to install the door knob with the lock in the proper position.
My key jam inside the door knob can't remove it what will I do
Thank you so much, this was very helpful.
How about if a key was stock Inside how can I remove it
Who said I need my man to do this?! Thank you so much! Bookmarking!
Well I mean you are watching a man do it. 😅
@@ShadowsandCityLightsyup it’s a man’s job that a woman can do
@@ShadowsandCityLightslmaoo she sure is 😂😂😂

this knob lock from the stone age

Why does one key face up and the other down? I have same problem
There are other videos showing how to flip the Kwikset key hole, with and without a special tool.
Thank you!
No such thing as an "easy" install. Or should I say REMOVAL before new install? 😅
Fixers have a bad reputation in movies....just watch The Fixer 2 ...like the second terminator...this is the good one. Thanks man.

Thanks for the video! How to remove existing deadbolt and a door handle with no screws; and avoiding scratching the paint? ~ Thanks ~

I like to flip the latch around. Keeps people from jimmying the door. With it the regular way you don’t need a key
Thank you for saying that because I was wondering if I put my latch in the wrong way. I put my latch the way that you said.
@@baabaici I’d say as long as your door still works. Technically my way is backwards but it serves its purpose
Ok, thank you. Also, thank you for your video it is very helpful

Great video. Thank you!
Do you need to re-key it, or can you just use the new key that's provided? I"m confused about that.
You can just use that key if you want. The rekey option is to match a different existing door if you want 1 key for both. Hope this helps!
Definitely helps, thank you!:)@@thefixerhomerepair2
