I'm a fella sitting in his room on the other side of the planet, someone you'll never know or ever meet and I just wanna say thanks.
Peace, love and happiness to you both.
sambo dutch anytime man!! Glad you liked it! GT
Thank you sir! Right back at ya!
That says it all for me too....thanks
You guys are good together. Both great artists...Papa is an awesome interviewer in that he asks good questions (that he knows the answers to) and then he shuts up and lets Guthrie do his thing....no ego! Just pure goodness...love the laughter too...🤟🏼🎸
Mikey'58 Thanks a bunch man!! Brett brings out the best in us!! GT
Thanks man!
Wish learning had been this much fun growing up, I might have went on to college. But no, I went surfing.
So much to take away from one video ... will definitely be watching multiple times. Thanks guys.
Sure thing!
I’m convinced Guthrie’s L 00 is one of the best sounding small body guitars... it’s sounded brilliant in every video I’ve ever seen. It just rings everytime!
It does sound amazing!
"I'm just learning about chords."
Guthrie is so humble man.
Yep
Virtuoso combined WITH everyman BPapa (talented in his own right) really is the winning combination. The helpful moderator/dissector of this stuff is sooo necessary.
Eric Antoszewski Thanks a bunch man!!
Thank ya sir! Glad you liked it!
My two favorite guys on RUclips!
Sweet! Thanks for checking us out!
Such good stuff in here. Thank you, lads. 🙏
Papa's a first-rate teacher/player in his own right, but when it comes to dissecting the techniques of his virtuoso guests, he's phenomenal. He deserves 500K. At least.
I was thinking the same thing. I appreciate how he makes them explain and dissect all the little embellishments and tricks they do. He asks exactly what I would want to if I were there.
@@alexsavage7145 exactly what I was thinking. He often asks what I would like to ask.
Steve DeLaunay indeed he is!!
Wow thanks man! Much more on the way! I guess just share it with friends and new will see if I. can get there! I hope so!
Living in Santa Monica and my wife of from Nashville so all of this feels so close to home. Very cool. Thanks PS
Sure thing! Thanks for watching!
beautiful stuff from Guthrie Trapp and Papa! A note for note lesson would be unbelievable
What makes the world of difference 2 me , is that both Papa , & GT try to elaborate , (as best they can)...(& as easy to understand)...what they're thinking , and how to apply it. Tim pierce does this as well...
Man , do I need to put in the time !!
Oh Man! I've been following Guthrie not only on You Tube but also I am enrolled in his artist works guitar tutorial (highly recommended by the way). And recently I had the pleasure of participating in the guitar immersion experience in person with Guthrie (also highly recommended). But this simple little video resulted in some major light bulb moments! Thanks for your generosity as always!!! I loved this!!!
That is awesome! Glad you liked it!
Dang i wanna do that!
im annonymous you can!!
You got this!
Great time to be a guitar player and student, thanks for giving back with these lessons guys!
Josh P Thank you!! It’s our pleasure! GT

Olivier Pillon thanks man!!! Fun day
Sure thing!
You two guys jamming it’s awesome . Hugs from Brazil
Thanks for watching!
Leonardo Lucas Thanks man!!
Love it! As a teenager in the early 60's in California ..that was exactly the vibe of what we were all learning and jamming on. Before the Beatles...and not surf music ...it was just this STUFF!
Thanks for checking it out!
Always such great lessons. What a dude Guthrie is! My biggest takeaway is that it’s ok not to be a finger picking guy. Such great advice about the blues and licks too. I love his modest style - out of tune notes for free indeed. What a bad-ass ✌️ 🎸 thank you!
Thanks for checking it out!
Great stuff you guys! Eye opening for sure! Thank you!
Sure thing!
The Dom7th/Dim7th relationship is the blues' secret weapon. I'm glad I learned the Dom7, m7b5, Dim, 9th etc...long ago, it added extra flavor to my playing in any style. Great stuff guys, Guthrie's a beast on that Tele too.
Nice!!!
great lesson, my kinda stuff!
Sweet! Got to get you doing one too haha!
Thanks a lot for this. I got some great tips and licks!
Awesome!
Thanks guys!!! I can't remember who said it blues is the roots everything else is the fruits!
Jason Keith great quote!!!

Jordan Scotton My mother will love this comment! Ha. Thanks man!! GT
You are welcome!
Blues will all ways be the king of all music
Yep.
Dude!! Great Great lesson.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Wow man, Guthrie has a great grasp of these things. Nashville has become the place to be musically, hasn't it Brett? Bet it's hard to think of heading back to California. This part of your playing journey is going to have deep effects on your playing moving forward I'm sure.
The work you do to create these moments for us all here on the interwebs are much appreciated, thanks for bringing this stuff to us.
Thanks man! Might be relocating there myself. If that happens its game on!! Thanks for watching!
very nicely played! good old blues played to wholes!
Acoustic Instrument Thanks man!!
Great lesson. Great teachers.
Joe Dougherty Thank you!!

Awesome, love it!
Darren Lucas Thanks !!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for checking it out!
Great lesson and playing. Thanks guys!
Rick Schnur Thanks man!!
Sure thing!
Every time I feel like I'm making a little progress, I listen to Guthrie play and it sets me back 2 years. I think Guthrie has trick guitars with special notes. He's not a guitarist, he's an illusionist. See if he can pull a rabbit out of that guitar. The damn rabbit can probably play better than me, too.
Escape the Matrix Thanks man!! It’s all about solid fundamentals. Then it’s a lot easier to see! I can help.
@@guthrietrappmusic You're already helping me more than you know via your 'ArtistWorks' course, and these videos. I started playing guitar when I was 12, but could never really put it all together, especially in improvising solos, and I'd get frustrated and quit. Now I've finally been making decent, consistent progress. It's about time, I'm 58, you know "Middle-Aged," as long as I live to be 116. haha Thanks Guthrie.
Lol!
Refreshing change breaking out the acoustics. Down home, gut bucket acoustic blues being played with two wooden box and some wire. If that isn't cool, then I don't know what is. Thank you Brett and Guthrie for doing this. I made up with my acoustic and I'm starting to date her again, so this is perfect timing.
Steve Douglas Thanks man!! That was a fun day for sure! GT
Sure thing! More coming soon!
@@guthrietrappmusic Thank you for your reply Guthrie. Glad to hear it was a fun day for you and it sure was a fun day for me. Still is.......

Michael Devine Thanks man! Me too! GT

Luv those old Gibsons
They sound awesome!
I slowed down this vid and watched it over and over again and finally after years of playing, I am playing the delta blues like I've always wanted to..... still got to perfect it but I'm on my way. Huge thanks to Guthrie for the examples and the tips, big thank you to Brett for posting this vid.
More Delta blues please gentlemen.
Sounds good! Thanks for checking it out!

I hear some Black Velvet in this guys...and I long for more! Thanks for sharing the expertise!
As in the song? Love that song! Guthrie is an amazing talent. Super good dude as well!
@@BrettPapa Yep that song! By a lady by the last name of Miles I believe! I'm glad to be subscribed to you guys, thanks for all the great content!
Yep, call my childish, I don't care...I was trying to work out the cool little run that Brett did around 1.35, so slowed the playback speed to .25....the laughing from about 1.32 is funny. Yeah I know...it's childish....but it's the small things. And yes I got the run.
Oh....great 'lesson' too, one of the best I've seen for breaking down blues runs! Thanks, guys.
Awesome man! It's your life you might as well have fun!
Inspirational, must dust off the old acoustic, thanks Guthrie & Brett
Sure thing!
Brett, I love the way you always play the dumb Dr Watson part, so your Sherlock guest can come up with the answers, good act ;-)
Haha!
now thats my kind of music!!!
harold sams Me too man!!
It's the good stuff!
You had me at put some stank on it...
kuz sounds good
I just feel at home and love playing Delta Blues. Can't wait to pick this apart, thanks. Guthrie, with your skills, you should try incorporating alternate bass with your flat picking. I'm sure we'd all love to hear the level you could take it to. I guess it did well for Johnson and Atkins.
Thanks for watching!
I could work on this lesson for a year thanks for sharing
Brad Young I did!! Ha. Enjoy man! It’s a fun style! GT
Sure thing!
Yes! Bringing it down home with blues in E! You guys sound 👍!
Jon MacLennan yea man!! The people’s key!! Thanks man!
I got a lot out of that ....thanks....especially the Robert Johnson” E.” Guthrie showed
John D awesome man! Glad you got something out of it!!
Awesome!
Comon Bro Brett, of course he’s playing on the couch, you even joined him 🤪🥴🤣😂👍
Best thing since I heard man of constant sorrow by the soggy bottom boys 😂😂 can I request a lesson of “ man of constant sorrow “ - soggy bottom boys 😂☝🏻🏴💙
Its in drop d capo at the 3rd if it helps
im annonymous thanks 🙏
Posh Kunt My friend Dan Taminski played and sang that song! I love it too. Thanks man!! GT
Hey Brett! If you could have Truefire's and Fretboard Confidential's David Hamburger on that'd be super cool. He teaches a lot of this stuff but with the alternate steady bass thing. It'd be also cool to see the banter between you two, love these guitar podcasty things, keep it up!
Yeah he is a great teacher. I like his vids. I'll see what I can do.
God damn I’ve always liked more Texas blues and lately been in to jazz and what not, lol. But this made me want to just grab my acoustic and learn to play like this.
Guthrie reminds me of my Kindergarten teacher---He's got a way of slowing down some complex stuff and making it accessible to those of us who don't have his skill level! This is comparable to a magician giving away his tricks!
Haha! He does do a great job of making the complex simple!
So much awesome info...re watch over and over...BUT! I cant help but fantasize about a possible graphic or insert on the screen showing a fretboard with dots and such that followed along with this infinite information. The issue isnt so much the speed or subject matter as it is simply deciphering where the fretting is. Most ideas I/we can see, but of course its seeing things when all 4 fingers are kinda lumped in one area. Most likely more production/cost, but the value would take it next level...regardless thanks for what u are doing, and ur guests like GTrapp are priceless.
Eric Antoszewski Thanks for watching man!!
Hey, you guys, so first thx for your time and your guitar lessons...learning a great deal.
So, I live up in Northwest Indiana-30 min from Chicago...My point is I'm just a short road trip to Nashville(east) Haha...and I'm thinking of August...What are some of the venue's you guys play...the reason for coming out, is to see you guys
Guthrie plays the Underdog in Nashville every Monday night. There are also other monsters that play there throughout the week. 3rd and Lindsley is a great spot too.
@@BrettPapa Thx Papa Stasche!!
Looking forward to that. I'll have to plan accordingly then. Appreciate you responding... Hope to see you down there too.. Thx for everything you do
That’s entertainment at its best.
Haha! Glad you liked it! Thanks for checking it out!
Sounds like you guys listened to a bunch of Eric Clapton's Unplugged record!! Nice lesson!!
Old Guy's Guitar Vlog Thanks for watching!
More acoustic blues please. I love this stuff. I wish i could play like Lightnin Hopkins.
You can tho bruh, just do it
Alex the Savage me too!!
@@guthrietrappmusic thanks for the lesson. Great stuff!
@@codycarter5627 I'll keep trying!
More on the way!
What sounds better to you 1/2 down playing blues or standard tuning? & what gauge strings do you like on your acoustic.
Thanks for the eye opener people....
Lol/ Feel like a 2cond time born (!)
Haha! Awesome!
hahaha...awesome
Thanks!!
8:50 lick
Loving those J50 & L-00, you guys sound great!
Pauli Halme Thanks man!! Great guitars.
Thanks! Guthrie has so great ones!
As aces as Jack Daniels!
Skip Frontz Jr. 🎶👍🥃
You guys both rule. I really need to learn how to hybrid pick, it changes the game. I can play well with no pick but really want to learn how to use both, you can pick around the chords with your fingers, (on electric too) and then dig in when you need to with the pick. That skill is muy importante.
For sure! I have some stuff coming out on that soon!
Just want to point out where you say "guys who are learning?" Why do so many tutorials always assume only guys are learning the guitar? I am a woman and I play the guitar. SO yeah the female form play guitar also! Thanks :) Oh yeah thanks for the lesson by the way! Haha
Haha I hear ya! A lot of that is just habitually saying you guys and not just meaning men. That being said the audience is about 96% men so tell your friends so we get more ladies in there lol!
beautiful what gibson is that exactly?? looks like a 1930s model
chris rocco I think it’s his 1933 Gibson L00. You meant Guthrie’s guitar, right?
chris rocco Thanks man!
Not exactly delta style blues but still good stuff.
Thanks! Kinda goes over a lot and I wasn’t quite sure what to call it haha!
I need some TABS to keep up with this. Too good not to have some TABS, pretty please. Great blues jams guys.
Marlon Cornwell Thanks man!! I have some but not specific to this.
ya but I am not Robert Johnson
Great music, but I'd like to throw that California hat in a bonfire. Unfortunately, I live in commiefornia, but not much longer.
Haha! It is a Cal Jam hat. It was a Chiropractic event that was in CA.
I'm a fella sitting in his room on the other side of the planet, someone you'll never know or ever meet and I just wanna say thanks.
Peace, love and happiness to you both.
