    I was in 8th grade in @1979 when I saw Dominique and his Washington Pam Pack high school team play my city's high school team. 94-29 or something like that. The team came out and did a pre-game warm up like the Harlem Globetrotters might. Just a ridiculous game of dunks.

    • @nonplayerzealot4
      @nonplayerzealot4 4 года назад +2

      @@Herrera777 I'm a Lakers fan and thankfully we didn't really get burned for not drafting Nique (there was a 3 guy top tier fight between Worthy and Terry Cummings and Nique for the 1st pick). Lakers would've won titles either way, let's not kid ourselves. Worthy or Nique was pretty close, but they felt that Worthy's post moves and cutting and big game play put him ahead by a tad in 82 (MVP of the 82 NC team that Jordan hit the shot on). Nique got to score at will as a rook and James had a longer adjustment period. He has said that Rambis(!) beat his ass bad in an early scrimmage. By the end of his rookie season, Worthy had come along fine, but he broke his leg before the playoffs.

    • @Buasop
      @Buasop 4 года назад

      Worthy wasn't as physical, but a much better all around player

    • @Riles3152
      @Riles3152 4 года назад +2

      I think Nique was a slightly better individual offensive player but Worthy was a better fit for the showtime fast break style of play. Nique was an isolation type player that needed the offense revolved around him. Worthy was a 2nd or 3rd option (Once Magic began to assert himself more offensively by the 86-87 season) and seemed to be content with that. There both well deserved hall Of famers but the Lakers made the right choice.

    • @Buasop
      @Buasop 4 года назад

      @@Riles3152 Nique sucked the air out of his team sometimes by being a ballhog. The Lakers and Celts both killed you with a team effort. Who knows what Worthy would have done if he were on a team where he was the one and only like Nique was. Worthy didn't show off, he went straight to the rack and that first step he had before the tendinitis and knee surgeries was amazing. Damn I miss 80's B-Ball

      ITS A TEAM GAME!!! Nique NEVER played with another HOF caliber player IN THEIR PRIMES!!! When Nique got to play with Moses, Moses was ALREADY past his prime. And no longer a superstar player. MJ had Pip and Rodman. Isiah had Dumars and Rodman. Bird had McHale and Parish. Magic had Worthy an Kareem. Hakeem had Drexler. Nique NEVER EVER had that type of superstar to play alongside him! And it WASN'T Nique's fault the Hawks came up short against the Bulls, Celtics, and Pistons in the playoffs at various points. Nique did his thing, he just didn't have the team AROUND HIM to win a title!!

    • @Herrera777

      @@Herrera777 Clyde WAS STILL in his prime when joined Houston. And Nique was a VERY GOOD rebounding SF!!!! Hell he averaged 9 RPG one season! Averaged 7.9 RPG another season. Averaged 7 RPG a couple times as well. Those are VERY GOOD rebounding numbers for SF. And when u get 9 RPG in a season, that's a GREAT clip for a SF. And IT TAKES MORE than great athletic ability to score 26,000 points in a career! Nique was a very skilled scorer who ALSO was a phenomenal athlete!!!
      And u TOTALLY ignored my point about the QUALITY of Nique's teammates. The best players Nique played with were an out of prime Moses Malone, Doc Rivers, Kevin Willis, and Reggie Theus. Compare that to Celtics, Pistons, and Bulls in the East!!! It's not Nique's fault he didn't have THE TEAM to beat those guys!!! And FOR THE RECORD, Nique still pushed Boston to 7 games in the '88 playoffs. Just didn't have enough help to beat Bird-McHale-Parish, etc.
