I like your choice of budget ammo . I’m glad to see you didn’t run blazer, federal, or Aguila in that beautiful rifle . That’s my idea of budget ammo . Thanks Elijah !
That SK really showed what he rifle can do. Se I told you I thought it was the ammo. That is one beautiful classic you go there. Thanks for sharing.
CV my wife told me I can sleep in the safe with it by the way I look at it. I have no idea why she was so mean I still drool when I look at her also LOL.
@@Dayattherange lol, I wanted to reply with something witty, but I don't want your wifey mad at me. Just tell her you'll only sleep in the safe Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays still giving her the majority of the week because you love her more. LOL
I've owned several BRNO Model 4 rifles and still have one. They can be very accurate if fed the proper diet. Playing with the barrel tension screw may help. I watched the trees behind you and the wind was pretty severe. If it was that bad on the range, it wasn't a fair test for either rifle of cartridges.Give it another chance on a calmer day.
Having stripped down North American .22lr ammo, I can only say that quality control is a huge problem. I found up to 0.7 grain difference in powder charges. The only ammo that performs reasonably well is CCI standard velocity.
I can verify everything said here and more! 😮😊
I truly do not understand how so many can say CCI when everytime I try it the results are worst. It is driving me nuts LOL that I can't find a good lot.
That is a fantastic rifle, I love mine. I found the CCI Standard Target shot the best. The Federal was most disappointing to me. I saw it on the shelf at my local gun shop and got so excited and then I shot it and was so disappointed.
I’m kicking myself because back in 1997 I had the opportunity to buy one with a tuned Shilen barrel on it that was shooting better than the best SK Rifle Match group you had, at 100 yards. He wanted $600 AUD at the time, and as I was there for his Swedish M38 in 6.5 x 55, I didn’t have the extra cash at the time. Boy do I regret it. 😖. The poor bloke had macular degeneration and was going blind and I felt really sorry for him having to sell his lifetime collection like that. But he enjoyed them while he could.
Great video once again. I would give the barrel a good cleaning. Then look down the bore to see how it looks. Use a bore scope if you have one. I would also check the internet to see what the action screw torque should be. It can make a difference. Good luck
Hello, I have one exactly like yours...even same year made. I bought it in the early to mid 90's. It has been shot very little and shoots fantastic. S o glad I found your site!!
Good to see you’re not afraid to shoot in wind conditions
It was a little unfair to the ammo but I can't let wind stop me or I would never shoot here.
I would never dream using High Velocity Eley in the beautiful BRNO. I was wanting to see you test it in CZ’s 10/22. Offer still stands if you would like to put it on your channel.
I have my father's Savage/Stevens single shot, my grandfather's Remington single shot, both bolt action. 22lr. They were both made in the early 1950's. Both group under a dime at 50 yrds.
@robertbush8327 very nice with ammo do they shoot like that?
@@Dayattherange usually cci mini mags
Man what a beautiful classic. I love it. I'll have to finish video when I get back from taking my mother to the doctor. I've seen the first 15 minutes so far and personally I think it is the ammo and not the rifle. I'll come back and finish after my outing. 👍
I absolutely love SK Standard Velocity at 50 yards. There's probably much better ammo for long range work in terms of extreme spread and SD's, but at 50 it's lights out. I've shot through probably 5 different lots and there's very little variance between the lots.
I thought when you first started shooting that the scope was not holding zero but the last three targets blew that theory apart. Nice shooting towards the end . Great
I really wish I had a calm day or indoor range to do the testing. Unfortunately no cameras allowed on the indoor range and frankly I can't stand the noise in the stalls next to me.
Great Shooting Looks Captain America Challenge Worthy 👍🏻 Hard to beat SK .I have a rifle 10/22 build loved Norma Match couple years ago picked some up Recently it kinda sucked the Tac 22 out shot it at 2.30 a box Picked up a bunch Rural king like 7 mo ago.🕺🏻
Received in Mail Yesterday 🥳
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR GIFTS I JUST RECEIVED ELI & KFW. REALLY LIKE YOUR CHALLENGING TARGETS AND THE TIME YOU PUT INTO ALL THIS FOR US VERY MUCH APPRECIATED 👍🏻👍🏻 🎯
Awesome Nopro glad you liked I will make sure to tell the wife.
In Australia we pronounce it as “Brew-No”. 😅
Thats a beautiful old rifle, I hope I can find something that nice some day. Great video, I really enjoyed it.
Thank you sir, keep looking took me a while.
Good video Elijah - My CZ 452 Training Rifle tends to like SK ammo. It does well with Norma, and it doesn’t like the new Federal GMT - sounds familiar…. You might want to check/play with your action screw torques - they can be pretty critical on CZ 452s.
I may start with the barrel tuning screw.
Humidity and temperature from day to day change guns performance, especially with wood stock guns. Ammo that shoots good today might not be that great tomorrow. IMO of course LOL
barometric pressure I have found in my testing is the ENEMY next to wind.
Stunning Rifle 😍
I stripped the barrel band off my #4 and sanded the stock to make it free floating... This gun will shoot a variety of cheap ammo pretty well... federal automatch,, tac 22, cci standard, norma match, I really like the BRNO #4.. Mine at least is one of the less picky about ammo of any .22lr I own
This target version doesn't have a barrel band.
Hooah!, Agree, beautiful rifle. Another great video!
That trigger guard is sexy!!! Great find brother!!
The curves I mean lines on this rifle man they just don't make them like this anymore LOL
Nice looking rifle. Norma just needed a GPS to navigate that long barrel 😂, but SK definitely stepped in and stole the show.
It is sad that we can't produce a more refined rimfire ammo, but then the Federal 800 round range pack probably wouldn't go for $60 if it punched single hole groups.
Elijah!
1. I am so sick of testing ammo I could 🤮 I just want one month a good shooting 😂😅
2. I get the same results from anything Norma that you got here 😮 None of my rifles shoot it well 😢
3. SK All day every day and 7 times on Sunday, Brother!! 😉 😜
P.S. The white box Norma Match-22 is the old stuff. All that Norma Red Box is the new Norma 😉
Great video thanks for sharing your 100° day!
LOL I know what you mean Norma actually shoots better than CCI SV for me. So you can imagine how frustrated I am when I here people say how good it is shooting.
@Dayattherange haha same here, man! I have even seen videos 👀
I guess I got the 💩 lot that should have never been placed in the Norma box 😄 🤣 😂
One more note I left out on my first post...It was new old stock when I bought it, from what my research found.
Very nice, sk is where it's at for price and accuracy
Wind plays havoc with .22 rimfire accuracy. A following wind can cause vertical stringing. My guns shoot SK the best. CCI standard is a good “ cheap” alternative. One of these days I’ll have to try one of your challenges.
Jump in on the 2024 summer challenge it is very active. dayattherange.com/2024-dayattherange-summer-rimfire-challenge/
SK definitely the best of this test. Black cross hairstyle on a black background target may have hindered the Federal ammo. Shot 100% better on orange background
Now this is an interesting concept time for another test let me see if I have more of the same ammo LOL.
Thanks for pushing me down that rabbit hole.
I agree with you that it is embarrassing that European 22LR seems to be made better than any you can easily find here in the USA
SK ...all the way!
Nice firearm, I like it.
JT
Great minds think alike! I just posted a video ammo testing my cz 452
hehehehehehehe let me go check it out.
My Cz MTRs like Lapua, SK and then Norma Tac-22.
Got to have the right Lube 😂😂😂 lots of fun testing testing testing
Yeap I have to find a lot for this thing I think it will shoot man.
I think the wind was really getting to those bullets take her back out on a calm day no way it shoots that bad.
I think you are right
Nice rifle and as always top notch video ! Where can someone find the
targets you are using ?
All targets I use are in different articles here dayattherange.com/ though now you are going to make me put them in one place.
I am aware of the website and the monthly targets . I was asking about the targets you used on today’s video.
My BRNO mod 4 loves 1070 Eley Match
ooooooooohhhhh thank you for this.
The wind is no help to the rifle or the ammo, the first group I would expect from thunderbolt. I think that barrel needs a scrub to get the lead out,as I found with my Anschutz M 54, heaps of black patches before the bore was silver agin. Never had good results from Tac.22 in my BRNO 2 or Anschutz,SK Pistol Match Special or Rifle match. Upmarket to Lapua Midas plus.
I was wondering if the pistol match or pistol match special would hold up I may try.
Possible lead fouling in the barrel since you said you didn’t clean it. 22 LR ammo is bad about that. Basically any rimfire ammo.
I am wanting to create a couple of videos showing me shooting and showing the impact at the target. I know nothing about what cameras I need of software to link them together. Can you enlighten your viewers on what is required ?
Thanks in advance. I have been shooting playing cards on edge at 50 yards with a Winchester 52E and think that would be good to put on video.
I'm sure you are a way more experienced shooter than I. Would you think that the scope has a fixed parallax at 100 yards and that's what is throwing you off at 50?🤔 Sorry just realized that it is an AO!😮😅 Good shooting with the SK for sure!❤❤❤
Yeap it is AO
@@Dayattherange so, I scored a 70 with the 597 on the Captain America Challenge. Is there still time to try again this weekend?
Wonder if you have a bad carbon ring. But then again it does look very windy
I will clean
It the ammo that tac was good at one time then it went down hill fast.
I agree 👍
@@CountryRimfire I second that.
I have a #4 as well. Up here in Canada the rifle is worth 800 can
Us price ?
Your scope might need to be replaced or the rifle needs a very well cleaning. I don't think it's the rifle because they are to well built.
You need to shoot vintage ammo
All I shoot today is sk and Eley it is the best ammo.i will tell you there is no cheap ammo that going to shoot in them nice rifles.😞🤔
Stop wishing that bad luck on me LOL
What is your address? I would like to send you some Eley High Velocity 38 gn. I haven’t seen anyone test it. My CZ457 varmint all factory will shoot 0.1705 if I do my part.
Thank you so much for the generous offer let me see if i have any in the back of the closet. Though I would not use high velocity in this rifle but it may be great for the Christensen.
