      Avigail B. Not too much. Forensic psychology deals with the aftermath of a crime, whereas Criminal Psychology can work with law enforcement to create a profile based on common psychological traits, as well as help establish motive.

    Interesting video. I want to become a forensic psychologist too, but I live in Germany. It's a bit different here. For example forensic psychologists have two main options where they can work... At the court, writing reports about the offender's condition during his act is one of them. Or you work in a jail, talk to criminals and try to get them less aggressive, so that they won't be dangerous for the society when they leave the prison one day. It's called ''resocializing people''.
    Maybe it's a difficulty and onerous job, but somebody has to take care of these ''monsters''. They often had a bad childhood and you'll never know what could have been, if a murderer for example lived in a family without drunken parents and violence each day.

  • @fialuer
    @fialuer 5 лет назад +12

    I hope many people would pursue this career but I think some don’t tolerate stress so they just stop in the middle of all these problems. Maybe some of them get in jail or suffer lack of sleep because of overthinking. I can’t imagine but thank you for them. Thank you for enduring a lot of pain and sacrificing that much of your time in education, training, dealing with crazy people in order to contribute to the truth.

      @musiczone7415 8 лет назад +18

      Criminal Profiling is part of Forensic Psychology

    • @colbynewbold
      @colbynewbold 8 лет назад +19

      Criminal Profiling is a term used almost entirely for FBI agents. Profiling may help in law enforcement, but it is a tool for furthering investigation, and should never be used to accuse someone of a crime. Took a class on it, and while it can be used by Forensic psychologists, it is essentially not something to be relied on. Most forensic psychologists are expert testimony. They also help with examining whether or not someone is fit for trial.

I can deal with people trying to discredit me I've been a cashier all my life lol. I'd just show up to court once or twice a week, make a good chunk of change, and leave. Thats why i'd probably be hated, but on my end its actually a pretty fun field to study. That plus working in a drug store, would make people take me more seriously verses just cashiering all my life.

    Is there a career where you can practice therapy on criminals?

    I would never help a person get less time for a crime they commited.

      What if that person had no control over the crime that they committed? What if that person had a mental disorder and they were deprived of treatment that they required, resulting in crime? What about homicidalsleepwalking? There are many explanations and factors as to why people commit crime "helping", these people is what could have prevented these crimes in the first place.

      Liam C I would not help someone get off.

      Chase Kyō There is no cure for Psychopathy. These people will never have remorse for what they've done/did. Granted there are criminals who can reform in which those people shouldn't go to prison but rather an institution to get help. I wanted to be a forensic psychologist until I realized I'd be helping people get away with their crimes.

    Life should go for life! Bring back the death penalty & watch murders decrease!

      right, as if more violence doesn't make more violence....

    • @liamc8102
      @liamc8102 7 лет назад +11

      That's not necessarily true. In American states that have the death penalty, a similar amount of murder occurs than in states that don't have the death penalty.

      Liam C Although, in the UK with no death penalty... there are many murders each week. Expect yourself to see a murder outside your house. I barley want to leave the house anymore. I've had a murder in an ally way DIRECTLY opposite my home and crimes taken place on my roads. As well as close friends living in different areas, same thing goes for them.

    What degree is needed ?

    • @herogamer5544
      @herogamer5544 9 лет назад +1

      Shawn Afshar Anything above an Associates will get you into the field. A Bachelor's will get you an assistant position, A Master's will get you a position working face to face with people and in the court system and a Doctorate will get you a position as a full fledged Criminal Psychologist. I strongly recommend at least a Master;s to make any good amount of money.

    • @BossChronicles
      @BossChronicles 9 лет назад +8

      Where I live in California they don't offer a " forsenic psychology " when you go for a psyd or a phd you can specialize but for a BA I'm assuming psychology or any other social science major
