I lost my father and mother inside 18 months and this made me aware how short life is and how suddenly things can end. So this video rang painfully true for me...
All my younger years, I was convinced that my life will end at the age of 36. (Inner conviction; no reason for it.) Now I am 68. The conviction of having al limited lifespan made me use my time for the fullest, embrace adventures, doing things the right way and in time ... Death has made my "first life" (up to 36) an intense and complete experience: I could have died in peace. Death did not take me that time, obviosly. Instead, I am living my "second life". Again, doing things my way, and the right way. Very different life (profession, family) compared to my "first life", but still with the same energy. Yes, grim, I can relate to what you tell us. I'm a paramedic in the emergency service of St. John's in Berlin. This job is like a crystal ball revealing the possibilities of everyone's future. You can learn what will happen to people who don't take good care of themselves or prefer to live a thoughtless life. You get to see what it looks like when you become poor, old, homeless, lonely or sick without anyone caring. That won't happen to me, because I stopped living the careless life. I take care of both my physical and mental health, I know a few friends who are reliable people and I guard my wallet. I make more money than I can spend, I have no debts, no ex, no GF and presumably, I will never run out of work. Not to mention the fact, this is one of the few real jobs deemed useful by society. I quit drinking alcohol, I go to the gym and I study Schopenhauer. I feel like I hacked Life. And when my time comes, I hope for an honorable ending.
