I lived on 117th/Compton Ave in the late 80’s (near the hospital….technically Carver Park area). Went to Centennial 88 and 89. Never in a gang, never had interest in it (as it was not fashionable back then). I will say the two most dangerous areas back then were off Sante Fe (where dude is from) and Nickerson projects. The worst hood however was Crenshaw Mafia. I stayed the f*ck outta Inglewood. Pretty sad way to grow up.
Facts. My family was fortunate to eventually work themselves out of Compton, and to a better life. My older family members said they had to get out because they were tired of getting their ass kicked for not joining.
