      Sir plz reply I have a Fuji xt100 its a crop sensor I am thinking to buy a samyang 85mm f1.4 for canon I am going to buy a Fuji to canon manual adapter because samyang is only manual focus. I want to take full body shots and I have seen vids in 85mm lens in full body shots gets the perfect blur .. Do I buy that lens

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  4 года назад

      @@saqibmohd9041 You will have to be some distance away from your subject to take a full body shot with an 85mm lens, as on this sensor it's the equivalent of 135mm. I'd would also advise against using an adapted lens when there are so many fine native x-mount lenses.
      If your goal is to achieve a satisfying blur, zoom in all the way, open the iris to the max, get your subject as close to the camera as possible and as far from the background as possible - that should achieve good results with most lenses. ruclips.net/video/FgpHdMxv2rg/видео.html for more details.

      I have rented this for this weekend. With my first few pictures at home, I am shocked to see that Astia and Provia show much more saturation than they do with other Fuji cameras. Don't really like that. My south asian yellow-ish skin looks jaundice yellow and my caucasian partner's looks like he has got some redness on the skin....something weird going on there.

      They were, I checked again. In fact I took the pictures exactly where I check all cameras after hiring / buying.. to check skin tones, etc. In fact XT1, XA3 have been great. Sony A7 series ( as much as I love), Canon M5, not so much. Maybe it fits with your observation that the colours in this are not as good.

    Hi Maarten, thank you once again for this great review. I just have few questions if u can help me. What are the top knobs/buttons for in xt100? They are unmarked except the shooting option knob. I have seen in other xt series the knobs are marked for shutter speed, exposure compensation and iso setting.
    Also, with fuji lens, can we control the aperture from the aperture ring in the lens like those old lens? I will be more than grateful for your kind answer. Thank you.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  5 лет назад

      Understood, I described those in the preview video. ruclips.net/video/aDCRr_ir8T0/видео.html
      Otherwise, you'll find good detail in the free downloadable manual for the X-T100. The same controls are available for manual adjustment of shutter, ISO and EV, they're just not labelled and can be customized.
      Yes, some Fujifilm lenses (XF series) have marked aperture settings, others have a dial to set the aperture (setting appears on screen.)

    Excellent review Maarten, found it very informative and helpful, especially the comparison shots on Flickr. I thought the X-T100 held up well against the X-T20, especially when it looked liked the X-T20 had an XF lens attached. I am most interested in decent jpegs within a budget. I tried a Canon M100 for a few weeks, but was very disappointed in the less than crisp results that I got, so returned that. My Sony RX100 M3 returned nicer results!

    The only difference I could see between the two sensors was that the white balance seemed different. But I didn't detect any consistecy in which had the more magenta or green tint - it seemed to vary. Generally the Bayer looked more natural outdoors, but less so indoors.
    Now I may have asked this question before, but I don't recall receiving an answer that I could understand:
    At 8:17 you talk about EVF autorotation. I don't at all understand what that does. In a DSLR with an optical viewfinder, the image will of course stay upright, nomatter which way you turn the camera. (And I think I'd find it confusing if it didn't). How is an electronic viewfinder different? What is rotated, and why?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 лет назад +1

      We were both shooting with sunlight white balance (I thought auto could be different, but) And that's my observation, no consistency - but worried about what is causing the difference. Didn't see any moire.
      EVF rotation is the onscreen overlay, Most cameras don't rotate the information to portrait mode, Fuji does. Does that make sense? Whichever way you turn, the on-screen text is right way up.

    Before my comment, I want to say that I have not done any photography and I don't own a camera (yet), so I am a complete newb. But I am looking for a camera, and considering the X-T100. In this video, compared to the X-T20, the photos from X-T100 look like they were taken with a smartphone camera (mostly because of the difference in detail and dynamic range). I don't know why it looks like this to me. Is it the kit lens that it comes with? If so, Would I be better off buying the body itself, and a better lens? And, by the way, I find your videos great, and very informative.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  5 лет назад

      Thank you, I do appreciate your kind words. The difference in dynamic range is due to the sensor (the X-Trans of the X-T20 provides more). I'm not sure how to explain the difference you perceive in detail - I think they're pretty much the same.
      The 18-55 kit lens is the best kit provided by any manufacturer, so although Fujfilm does make some very nice primes, I think you are well served by the 18-55.
      Have you considered the X-T20?

    • @Gworan
      @Gworan 5 лет назад

      @@MaartenHeilbron Thank you for the quick reply. In terms of the detail, it may be the youtube video compression, or it may be the case that I don't really know what I'm talking about. But I do see a great difference between the photos from those two cameras. I saw the X-T20 is a bit older, yet more expensive, but when comparing them on paper I don't really know how to justify one or the other. I am planning on going to a shop to try a bunch of different cameras they have on display. I really like the articulating screen on the X-T100, and the X-T20 and the X-T30 have only tilt, which makes me not really want them. • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  5 лет назад

      You will see the photos in more detail on my flickr album. The difference in sensor array (X-Trans vs. Bayer) makes me prefer the X-T20. No, there's no camera that is quite as limited as to take only 36 pictures before you must change the memory card, or require you to use the same ISO, white balance and colour profile for 24-36 consecutive shots, or that can't record video. That is, of course, assuming that your 35mm film camera has auto-exposure and focus capability. And there is no digital camera that requires you to wait several days before you can view your photos.
      There is lots to like about the T100, but I suspect that you're right and I see no reason that I would exchange the D5300 (assuming it's in good working order) for the T100.

      In manual mode, the left side display (which is exposure compensation in other modes) is the exposure meter. If it's -3, that's them meter reading for the current scene. I switched to Fujifilm x-t100 from canon dslr camera, when i used MF on DSLR, i know when i successful focus by the sound of the camera but with fujifilm x-t100, I have no idea ! i read on the internet that we have a focus peaking when it turned color when we turn the focus ring but i didn't find it at all

      Instead of peaking, try some of the other manual focus assists, like expanded view. Turn Focus check on.

      It could be, although you might need lighting if the scene is not well lit, or the teacher is not well-illuminated. The time limit is 30 minutes (4K and HD).

      There are certainly faster cameras, both from Fujifilm and others, however, for most uses it's fast enough. It is likely better than the D7000, but I didn't compare side by side.

      @@MaartenHeilbron Thank you for the response Maarten! I really want to get the xt100 to build a glass collection and eventually uprgade to a xt3 or something newer down the line. However the gx85 holds it own in value as it is cheaper and comes with bundle lenses and is great in 4k but I'm on the fence of its still image performance. I guess what I'm trying to ask is would you reccomend the gx85 for professional looking stills ?

    Mr. Heilbron - Do you think that the color difference in the photos taken with the X T20 and the ones taken with the X T100 is a result of the different sensors as opposed to the processing algorithms? The review implies that the difference is caused by the different sensors. If shooting in raw, can one get the same colors from either camera (more or less) through post processing?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure what the reasons are - there are too many factors to consider, not all of which are under Fuji's control. In the end interesting, but not really valid.
      Yes, when shooting RAW, adjustments can be made to achieve the same colours from both - or from virtually any camera.
