Hello Maarten, I purchased the camera a day before. I recently started a new RUclips channel and badly needed a camera to take pictures and to record HD videos. 4K was additional bonus but not much needed in my case due to its large file size. I am happy with what I got for the price that I paid. I watched your video before and after I purchased. There is still lot to learn to understand the camera better but watching the video helped me with all the basic information in quick time. Thanks for making this video. Hey Maarten, great video once again. Loved it! A few months back I asked you if I should get a Sony A6000 or an A5100. You suggested the A6000, and I am very, very happy with that purchase. Thanks! Today, I seek your advice on upgrading from the kit lens. Shall I get the SEL 35mm f1.8 or something else completely? It has OSS (no IBS in A6000, sad face), a large aperture, and I guess 35mm is pretty versatile for APS-C cameras. What do you suggest?
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words - but we're kind of off topic here. I'm not sure what you're planning to do, so can't really comment on whether this lens is suitable or not. I think it's a good lens, I wouldn't worry so much about IBIS with F1.8.
Great Video on the New Fujifilm X-T100, I had the X-T1 in mind; but this little guy will do just fine! Newer system and newer lenses! Thanks again for a great review😌
I currently have Panasonic's G9 Pro camera. It's a M4/3 camera but now having just discovered this new entry-level Fuji X-T100 and am going WoW! Although the touch screen has been common place and quite sophisticatedly developed for both Panasonic and Olympus cameras, Fuji seems to be playing catch up here but doing a good job at it. Even Sony is not at this level of touch screen development. Screen sensitivity for one, not being able to do AF & shutter release for another (only AF) makes this a theoretical winner based on advanced information. I will reserve final judgment until I can have a 'hands on' experience with the camera. Maarten, on the touch screen, one of the more (main?) attraction features of the camera, how do you feel about it's responsiveness compared to say Panasonic's and Olympus' touch screen technology? Can you select a screen AF point while composing through EVF? As an addition to this overview menu, It would be nice if you could do a separate video focused only on the menu system structure and touch screen functionality, demonstrating by example or explanation each menu element. Oh, and I subscribed to your channel. I do like your 'no nonsense', thorough, brief and 'to-the-point' presentation style. Thanks.
Thanks for your enthusiastic participation in the comments for this video. I'd suggest that you might get a little more "wow" out of an X-T20 (but it wouldn't have focus stacking or a front facing screen) as then you'd have 4K at 24 and 30 frames. Others, including Panasonic and Canon have much more fully developed touch screen systems that include menu navigation, settings adjustment, etc. I do recommend a hands-on experience. There is an EVF "touch pad" feature. Overall, I'm finding responsiveness to be about the same - none are great, for focus only, I think Sony's, as implemented on the A7 III) is my preferred. I will try to get a full review in and cover those points. So, finally, thanks for your time, your kind words and your subscription, all are appreciated. I'll look forward to more of your comments.
A great preview! I'm from India and am looking to get this, but am also interested in the Nikon D3500. Am a beginner and never have had a camera of good quality except for very old point and shoots. Which is better?(Especially for autofocus and ease of use). Thanks!
Beautiful and clear video Maarten. I have the original X100 and want to upgrade. I was thinking in the x-t20 but wasn't expecting this one at all. So what would you recomend? X-T20 or X-T100? Thank you in advance :)
Maarten....another terrific overview. I have been waiting with anticipation for a Bayer sensored 24MP Fuji camera. I currently own the X-T2 and X-T20. How do you find the image quality? Equal or better/worse? Does the camera have an AA filter? If not, how does it handle moire? -Paul
These are good questions for an in-depth review. I find the image quality about the same, but with the difference that the Bayer sensor brings - a different colour profile, less contrasty. I don't know about the AA filter - didn't find a reference in the documentation, so suspect there will be one - as it's the omission that's notable.
Thanks for the review, the one question I can’t seem to find a clear answer too anywhere is if I can use a manual nikon lens with an adapter? This camera doesn’t seem to have the “shoot without lens” option in the menu that would allow you to use a manual lens with adapter. Can you confirm this?
Do you think Fuji might eventually address this issue via a firmware update? Can this even be fixed via a firmware update? Maybe their internal processing engine might not be up to par to handle 4K @ 24 or 30fps possibly.
Good question, as well as the suggestion that it's a processor issue. I think that answers the question - that this is indeed a low-powered processor that can't handle 4K 24frames. Note that it also can't handle processing an X-Trans sensor. That's the price of entry level.
Even your previews are so detailed. Great job! Nice location for the video. Noticed this Fuji XT100 is made in Indonesia. Is there any difference in the build quality compared to the Chinese and Japanese made models.
Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. I expect that Fuji's quality standards are identical across all of their manufacturing operations. Materials, fit and finish seem the same as other Fuji models - although I do find it hard to distinguish plastic from metal without scratching the surface.
Currently owning the Panasonic G9 Pro, I am not so sure. I tend to like tilt versus a fully articulating screen. The tilt screen usually handles most scenarious I might want to use it like for overhead or low level shooting. The X-T100 tilt screen, being able to use it 3-way, for vertical low level touch scren shots, portraits, as well as the selfie, is 1+ up on Fuji's implementaton of tilt screen versus the competition with only 2-way tilt. There are pros and cons of both systems, but I tend to lean towards tilt versus fully articulating swivel. It's a matter of subjective personal preference. The screen is always right there immediately ready for a flip up or down. I don't have to open the screen, extend it to the left side of the camera, which becomes awkward when I want to hold and balance the camera with the right hand grip (almost non-existent) while doing touch screen controls on the left side of the camera with the left hand. This is especially awkward with X-T100 as there is very little grip to grab on to assuming you even use the minimal screw on grip that comes with the camera. So, implementation of the tilt screen seems to make better sense to me. My 2-cents worth.
Looking forward to having the lend of a G9. Fully articulating is best for video/selfies, as it offers the most flexibility - but I do agree that sometimes for stills it's not the most useful, as it is harder to adjust and makes the camera a little more awkward to hold as you observe. Subjective personal preference plus your overall usage needs. I will note that the operation of the X-T100 screen is slightly awkward.
Owning the G9 I reckon I will have to rethink and develop a more positive attitude on full articulation. ha-ha. As for the touch screen it is excellent as is the case with Olympus too. BTW, on a somewhat related note, I would almost like to get the Olympus E-M10-III which has tilt and similar onscreen menu-related touch controls. But the fact is, the body alone costs more then the Fuji X-T100 with body and kit lens (at least in Japan). And you get an APS-C sensor @ 24MP with the Fuji too.
Gino Rigucci hi. Could you kindly help. I'm looking to buy one as well. Is your wife a novice or a seasoned photographer. I'm a novice myself. Are there pictures taken on Instagram? Is the auto focus ok or should I look for a better one? Thanks.
It does. A menu option turns the menu output on or off. But only when you set the 4K movie output to HDMI do you get 4K 29.97 out to the external recorder, and then only when you press record, but at least that's an option.
Hi, great video! I have been using this camera for several years but you just pointed out so many things that I don't know! Do you know if this camera has bulb mode and if so, how to set it?
@@MaartenHeilbron yeah.. I've looked at it already. It says I can turn bulb mode on by rotating the main command dial on M but the longest I can get is 30 seconds no mater how high or low iso is.. 😞
@@hiro4981 You must use mechanical shutter. In bulb mode you hold the shutter release down as long as you want the exposure to be, up to 60 minutes. There's no timer - you have to hold the release down.
@@MaartenHeilbron I just purchased one of those too (pluto trigger). This let's me to take long exposure photos by using my phone with blue tooth. It just says the camera needs to be set to bulb mode to do it..
Depending on other factors, and your choice of lens, any of those would be good. I kind of prefer Fuji, in colours other than black as they look less intimidating - and for whatever reason, using the mono mode on Fuji cameras inspires me. Your reaction may be different.
As usual great review Maarten. It seems that Canon and Sony are learning from Panasonic when it comes to extracting images from 4K videos. Just a question about the autofocus, is it still contrast detect?
That's very kind of you to say. The release calls the focus system "advanced hybrid" which I interpret to mean phase detect in the centre, contrast around the edges - if other Fuji models are anything to go by.
Thanks Maarten for the reply. I have the suspicion that its the same with other Fuji cameras. Based from the reviews I saw, Fuji is still not close to what Sony and Canon is doing as far as phase detect auto focusing is concerned.
That really depends on what you intend to photograph, which kinds of controls you want easily accessible and which lenses you intend to purchase. Both could be good cameras for many applications, and both have their quirks and limitations.
Interesting in depth look at the features. I would prefer a 24 to 85 or 100 equivalent lens with manual zoom as a kit lens. Pity they didn't update and improve the 16-50. And is this the most polite comment section on the web? ; )
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, not my first choice of lens either. I'd put the 16-55 on, but that feels like overkill, particularly if you're looking for light and small. 18-55. or one of Fuji's lovely primes probably. And thank you, I aim for polite comments - I ask them to be relevant and civil. I do moderate, but I don't think I have to delete more than 1 in a 100, if that. I most certainly appreciate the demeanour of my viewers, they seem to be my kind of people.
Do I have to change some of the setting like the xt20? There r a lot of video showing how to set up and changing buttons. I’m confuse. Do I have to do that with the xt100? I’m new into photography.
Excellent as always, Marteen. It would be interesting to see how the X-T100 compares to the X-A5. I'm happy with my X-Trans X-T20, but I'm still interested on Fujifilm and their cameras.
Thanks Mr. Heilbron for the insightful video. You covered so much even though this was just a preview/hands on video. I was left with the impression that the X-T100 doesn't have an AF-L button, or otherwise a way to do a back button focus. Did I miss something? Thank you in advance :)
I appreciate your kind words, thanks. The Q button can't be customized. The only custom button is the Fn button, which has an "Instant AF" selection, which seems to do the job when in manual focus. It's a bit awkward in placement. And holding it down triggers its ability to reset the customization.
Maarten Heilbron thank you so much! The ease with which we can do back button focusing (simply by switching to manual focusing instead of having to go through the menu to change what the AF-L button does) is one of the allure of Fuji for me, and I'm sad to see the A series still doesn't have that. Cheers!
Now that this camera is out, would you mind making a xt100 vs xt20 comparison? It seems like new photographers would have to choose between any of these 2 now.
For whom is this camera for? I have X-T20 that I like pretty much. The two features that bring my attention it's the adjustable LCD and the way that transfer the picture. Sir can you tell me it's using the same software for transfer the picture and it's only WiFi? Thanks
I think this camera is for anyone who's thinking they'd like to take better photos than their mobile phone delivers. If you have an X-T20, please don't give this one another thought. It's not. The bluetooth maintains an always on connection that activates the wifi to transfer pictures as they're taken. Maybe that will come as a software upgrade?
This is a point of interest for me and a feature I would like to know more about. The Panasonic G9 theoretically has this same function but it seems I am not implementing it properly, or it does not work. I tend to think the former. What I understand is, with Bluetooth connection on, as I take photos with the G9 (or I assume same with X-T100) the camera data (photos and video clips both?) are supposed to transfer real time to the smart phone for editing and social network uploading. Does the Fuji X-T100 wait until the camera is turned off and then begins to transfer? If so, then how do the photos transfer in an off state? Or, do the photos transfer to the smart phone real time while taking photos with the X-T100? This is a feature I am very interested in as there are times when a photo I can not take with the smartphone but can with the camera, I want to be able to transfer from camera to smart phone to edit and distribute. Cheers.
I can't speak to the G9, but on the X-T100, the bluetooth connection signals that there are new photos and switches to wifi. I didn't test on Android, but with iOS, you may have to switch the wifi connection to the camera's. When it's connected, photos are transferred as they are taken - or when the connection is made marked photos are transferred. If there are still photos to transfer, the camera goes to sleep, but does turn off until the transfer is completed. Hope this helps.
Maarten Heilbron Oh, wow, that's surprising then 😮 Usually lower end cameras are smaller/lighter. Does the included kit lens contribute to this? Thanks for the input!
Please help! I can't decide between the xt100 and the olympus om-d e-m10 mark ii I don't care about video, I will use it for street photography/portraits/landscape/architecture. Which one should I get?
That's true here, as it is of most cameras, particularly in this price range. I would suggest that it's an effect that you will rarely observe - unless you do a lot of fast pans across vertical objects. I have yet to find a camera where it bothered me in actual shooting. However, if that's your need, you will need to spend several times more than you would for the X-T100.
It is in the works, but because I waited so long for the grip, I decided to also wait until the firmware update, as I find the camera slightly glitchy.
Is it worth to buy xt100 when xa5 is costs significantly less. I mean the main difference I noticed is the one additional dial and view finder. By the way loved your xa5 guide video. I mean you explained all the settings in detail and it was entertaining as well. Big thumbs up from India.
Just bought the Fujifilm X-T100 after 2 years of using Canon.I love the film simulation mode, but I have to say thay this is a bit confusing for me. Is there a "standard mode" and a "film simulation mode" you can switch one to another?
I've just been given the final firmware, so I can start a real review. Any details you need to know that I should include? For the X-H1, it's in progress, but by the time camera and grip arrived, decided to wait for the firmware update to finalize. I'm finding it a bit glitchy, so hope the update fixes that.
Unless they sell a different model in Mumbai, there's no button on the back to which AF-On can be assigned. However, please do say hello to all my friends in Mumbai, including Amit.
I guess it is not for me than... i would really love if FujiFilm would make an *leaf shutter interchangable lens camera* ... in x-pro style. I currently use the X-T2 as well as the X-Pro2 myself.
Question: I am a newbie when it comes to photography, that is why i bought the XT-100. I just wonder why the pictures that i took are small in size, mostly 600 to 700kbs, while my phone easily gets 3 to 4mb per picture. So given the small size of jpeg, does it really affect the image quality? How can i adjust it or do i need to? Thanks.
Could you please comment more on the lowlight, high ISO performance in your complete review? I'm unfamiliar with Fuji's Bayer sensor and am considering this as a possibly "better" option versus Micro Four Thirds as a compact option. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. As always, it's informative and worth watching.
How easy or efficient to edit in Lightroom, i.e. do not need Iridient software to edit RAW images, a problem with the X-Trans sensor. Seems this traditional Bayer array will be better handled in LR.
From what I understand, bayer sensor (filter array) should be OK for post production. It's when you introduce RAW data taken with a Fuji camera having X-Trans sensor that you run into problems for post production.
Can you wait until next week? My M50 review should be done by then. As a generalization, Fuji x lenses are superior to Canon m lenses - that would be the basis for my decision.
Fuji xt-100 or canon 80d for landscapes and portrait photography plz suggest one, currently I'm using canon 80d I would like to switch to Fuji, do u think it is right decision
I've never done a person running towards the camera scene for af speed. You're thinking of Matt Granger. Wait for the reviews, this was a preview. And lower your expectations. This is not the same as the X-T2, X-T20 or X-H1.
Quick answer: The Q button can't be customized. The only custom button is the Fn button, which has an "Instant AF" selection, which seems to do the job when in manual focus. It's a bit awkward in placement. And holding it down triggers its ability to reset the customization.
A feature fill device. Looks like the perfect street and travel device. I liked that your review was one of the first on this camera. Great job MH.

One of the best comprehensive reviewers. Well thought out content. I like the "focus stacking" idea on the X-T100.
That's very kind of you to say, thanks for commenting.
Looks like a great camera for many kinds of photography, the lack of 4k at 24fps will cause most video enthusiasts to steer clear
I know, so few frames short of being acceptable.
From what I have been reading here and elsewhere, It will be a sore point for many, to only having 15fps instead of 30fps
Right, I don't see anyone taking this seriously.

Yes, but that doesn't explain that they implemented to same 4K@15 frame solution on the X-A5 (also a Bayer sensor).
I love the in-body focus stack option!
It's a nice feature to have - although it works best on very still objects. I'm going to do try more samples today.

I thoroughly enjoyed this review! Thank you.
That was very kind of you to say, thanks!
Sophisticated review. Thank you.
That's very kind of you to say, thanks for commenting.
Excellent reporting....as usual! Thank you!
Always nice to see your comments for my videos - thanks for the kind words.
excellent review!
That's kind of you to say, thanks!
A great presentation as always, Maarten thank you. Did you noticed if the camera supports HSS flash? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Thank you for your kind words, appreciated. The sync shutter is 1/180. The manual doesn't mention HSS.
A great preview! I'm from India and am looking to get this, but am also interested in the Nikon D3500. Am a beginner and never have had a camera of good quality except for very old point and shoots. Which is better?(Especially for autofocus and ease of use). Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words. On both factors, I would consider the X-T100 a better choice.
Beautiful and clear video Maarten.
I have the original X100 and want to upgrade. I was thinking in the x-t20 but wasn't expecting this one at all.
So what would you recomend?
X-T20 or X-T100?
Thank you in advance :)
Unless you love the Bayer sensor (instead of X-Trans) or need the forward facing selfie screen, I'd go with the X-T20.
Whooaaa.. I just found out the XT100 today and wanna text you to make the review, until I found you already did. Haha.. You're the best Maarten!
Thanks, I'm always appreciative of your kind words.
Great review sir, but should i skip tis go for xt 20?
You should. I'd recommend the X-T20 over the X-T100.
Maarten Heilbron if for beginner , izit still go for xt20 ?
Over the X-T100? Yes.
What are you reasons for T20 over T100?
Better video capabilities mostly.
nice review! I'm wondering if this camera will have focus peaking to use it with vintage lenses..
Yes, focus peaking - but not the digital split that's usual in Fuji models.
Thanks for the reply. I forgot you were going to do an in-depth review. I will stay tuned :-)
Always happy to help.
Thanks for the review, the one question I can’t seem to find a clear answer too anywhere is if I can use a manual nikon lens with an adapter? This camera doesn’t seem to have the “shoot without lens” option in the menu that would allow you to use a manual lens with adapter. Can you confirm this?
Thanks for the kind words, there is in fact a "shoot without lens" option on the shooting menu.
Thank you so much for this!❤
It's always my pleasure, thanks for commenting.
Great video. Seems like a very good alternative to some larger point and shoots
Yes, it's another nice Fuji camera - but I do wish that 4K supported at least 24 frames.
I was just thinking the same thing! 15fps isn't too useful. Still seems like an interesting camera though.
Right, some very interesting features. I'd likely prefer the X-T20.
Really in depth and helpful Thanks!
That's very kind of you to say, thanks for taking the time to comment.
Hi there! Are the D pad buttons able to be reprogrammed to just move the autofocus points? That's a must have for me.
They are not.
A neat camera, seems Fuji have been paying close attention to the spec' of the Lumix cameras...
I wish they'd paid closer attention to the way the monitor swivels and the 4K video (not just photo) capabilities.
Chacun son gout, as they say in France. My Olympus concern is their strange menu system. It's so non-standard I can never find anything.
I ordered this camera for my wife since it has less controls and a simplified adaptation. Thanks for the review.
Always nice to find that someone has found a suitable camera, I appreciate the kind words.
Gino Rigucci hi. Could you kindly help. I'm looking to buy one as well. Is your wife a novice or a seasoned photographer. I'm a novice myself. Are there pictures taken on Instagram? Is the auto focus ok or should I look for a better one? Thanks.
@@GiftyEliyanaGraceActs Kim is somewhere between, as she doesn't really care for the technical stuff. The autofocus is OK.
I have now a Fuji X-A10, would recommend the Fuji X1T00 as an upgrade or better look for another model? Thank you! Regards.
I would recommend the X-T20.
love this review, so much fun content.
Always a pleasure to find your kind words in the comments - thanks for taking the time.
Great preview review but does it have a clean HDMI out?....
It does. A menu option turns the menu output on or off. But only when you set the 4K movie output to HDMI do you get 4K 29.97 out to the external recorder, and then only when you press record, but at least that's an option.
Maarten Heilbron are you saying 4K is 29 FPS when recording externally compared to 15 FPS internal ?
@@sdhute I"m saying the camera outputs 4K 30fps (29.97 to accommodate NTSC time code) on the HDMI out.
Hi, great video! I have been using this camera for several years but you just pointed out so many things that I don't know! Do you know if this camera has bulb mode and if so, how to set it?
Bulb mode is explained on page 59 of the English version of the manual. Thanks, I appreciate your kind words.
@@hiro4981 Which dial are you adjusting? It's the main command dial (at the top right) which enables bulb mode.
Which you say for street photography in Europe along with some macro, the Fuji X-T100, Lumix GX85, or Sony a6300 would best fit the bill?
Maybe not here, but the X-T2 and X-H1 both are fast and accurate - maybe not quite up to the standard set by the Sony A7R III and A7 III, but close.
Ok then. Thanks Maarten
always my pleasure
For photography, would you prefer xt100 over m50? Im planning to buy one! Thanks!
That really depends on what you intend to photograph, which kinds of controls you want easily accessible and which lenses you intend to purchase. Both could be good cameras for many applications, and both have their quirks and limitations.
great video, I found more informational than the rest.
That's great to hear, thanks for the kind words.
If I was to upgrade my lens what would recommend. I mostly shot landscapes and I’m trying to get into wildlife.
For landscapes, the XF16F1.4; for wildlife the XF70-300 ruclips.net/video/aGaAP35eBog/видео.html
Do I have to change some of the setting like the xt20? There r a lot of video showing how to set up and changing buttons. I’m confuse. Do I have to do that with the xt100? I’m new into photography.
I'd suggest that it's possible to shoot happily in the auto modes until you have the time, inclination or need to adjust the settings.
Thank you for this. ❤️
Always happy to help, glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Excellent as always, Marteen. It would be interesting to see how the X-T100 compares to the X-A5. I'm happy with my X-Trans X-T20, but I'm still interested on Fujifilm and their cameras.
Thank you for your kind words. About the same, but with a few features like the 4K burst and focus.
Jose A. Ochoa, check this out. mirrorlesscomparison.com/preview/fuji-xt100-vs-xa5/
Thanks for the link - they do always provide useful side-by-side data points and commentary.
Cheers!
Yes, one more button would be appreciated.
Great review! Thank you 🙂
Always my pleasure, thanks for the kind words.
Looks like it is a great camera. But how about if I compare this with the entry level Canon M50?
Both have advantages - let me know how your comparison ends.
Now that this camera is out, would you mind making a xt100 vs xt20 comparison? It seems like new photographers would have to choose between any of these 2 now.
I don't mind - but I already have a pretty full editorial calendar. I will see what I can do.
For the 4k burst shooting what do you mean by 7mp? The photo that you choose on it will be shot at 7mp rather than its default 24mp?
The camera saves the "burst" as a video file. Extracting an image results in a 7Mp file.
Intriguing camera, but I’ve had two Fujis and both broke. I’m a bit Fuji shy now.
Oh dear. My experiences have been good.
Which is better? XA3 or XT100. And also, how many film simulations can you save on XT100?
Depends on your needs and design preferences. The eleven film simulations are preset, you can't either add or remove them.
Hi Maarten: What's the size compared to the XT-20? Larger, smaller, same?
The X-T100 is marginally larger and heavier.
Maarten Heilbron Oh, wow, that's surprising then 😮 Usually lower end cameras are smaller/lighter. Does the included kit lens contribute to this? Thanks for the input!
It's not the lens, it's one of Fuji's lightest. Always my pleasure.
Please help! I can't decide between the xt100 and the olympus om-d e-m10 mark ii
I don't care about video, I will use it for street photography/portraits/landscape/architecture. Which one should I get?
Have you considered the X-E3? ruclips.net/video/cv0JUtt6g5E/видео.html
Very nice review good work sir ☺
Preview, but thanks. In a full review, I'd be a little more detailed, and a little more critical.
I'm looking at this or the Sony rx 100 v. I'm not sure what to get at the moment. I did see your review on Sony but still don't know what to get
Unless the smallest possible camera and 4K video are must-haves, I'd consider this as the more usable and versatile camera.
I'm interested to buy this camera. but a lot is saying they have severe rolling shutters. What do you think?
That's true here, as it is of most cameras, particularly in this price range.
I would suggest that it's an effect that you will rarely observe - unless you do a lot of fast pans across vertical objects.
I have yet to find a camera where it bothered me in actual shooting.
However, if that's your need, you will need to spend several times more than you would for the X-T100.
Do you have a new in depth review for the XH1(in the works ?)if so when? Great work..love your reviews !
It is in the works, but because I waited so long for the grip, I decided to also wait until the firmware update, as I find the camera slightly glitchy.
Thanks !
always happy to help
Is it worth to buy xt100 when xa5 is costs significantly less. I mean the main difference I noticed is the one additional dial and view finder. By the way loved your xa5 guide video. I mean you explained all the settings in detail and it was entertaining as well. Big thumbs up from India.
That’s a question that only you can answer. Thanks, I appreciate your kind words.
Just bought the Fujifilm X-T100 after 2 years of using Canon.I love the film simulation mode, but I have to say thay this is a bit confusing for me. Is there a "standard mode" and a "film simulation mode" you can switch one to another?
Not as such. Use the Provia/Standard film sim - but remember that film sims are not applied to the RAW files.
@@MaartenHeilbron Thanks a lot!
Always happy to help.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this camera. I didn't expect an entry-level Fuji at this time. By the way, are you still gonna review the X-H1?
I've just been given the final firmware, so I can start a real review. Any details you need to know that I should include? For the X-H1, it's in progress, but by the time camera and grip arrived, decided to wait for the firmware update to finalize. I'm finding it a bit glitchy, so hope the update fixes that.
I guess specifically, any differences between the X-Trans and Bayer sensors.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Sir 🙏! I'm from Mumbai, India. Is it possible to set back button focusing in X-T100 which I recently purchased?
Unless they sell a different model in Mumbai, there's no button on the back to which AF-On can be assigned. However, please do say hello to all my friends in Mumbai, including Amit.
Can the flip out screen be turned around and closed to protect the screen like the pen f ?
It can not.
Thank you for sharing Maarten! Does the camera have a leaf or a focal-plane shutter? If it is a leaf shutter it is a winner!
Always my pleasure. Focal plane.
I guess it is not for me than... i would really love if FujiFilm would make an *leaf shutter interchangable lens camera* ... in x-pro style. I currently use the X-T2 as well as the X-Pro2 myself.
What do you see as the advantages to the leaf shutter?
For easy lightning options and overpowering the sun at any sync speed... +inbuild nd filter = X100F - interchangable lens option.
I see, thanks!
Thanks.
Are you using image size "L" and image quality "Fine"?
Could you please comment more on the lowlight, high ISO performance in your complete review? I'm unfamiliar with Fuji's Bayer sensor and am considering this as a possibly "better" option versus Micro Four Thirds as a compact option. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. As always, it's informative and worth watching.
I will do that. As a compact option, this is not Fuji's smallest/lightest model. I'm reviewing a few travel cameras. Stay tuned.
Did you get your hands on the XF10 they just announced? :D
Not yet ... but I am travelling at the moment. Maybe for our next trip.
Hey what's the lowest shutter speed available on this camera's manual mode?
The slowest speed is 4 seconds. Using bulb mode it can expose for up to 60 minutes.
Very fine review ------
Kind of you to say, thanks.
How is the video stabilizes system, can I buy a Lens with OIS ?
Yes, that further improves the stabilization. I need to do some more shooting to see how well it works.
best review
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words.
How easy or efficient to edit in Lightroom, i.e. do not need Iridient software to edit RAW images, a problem with the X-Trans sensor. Seems this traditional Bayer array will be better handled in LR.
The X-T100 has a Bayer sensor.
Maarten Heilbron I meant to say Bayer filter array
I understood, and I'm not sure that either is more correct.
From what I understand, bayer sensor (filter array) should be OK for post production. It's when you introduce RAW data taken with a Fuji camera having X-Trans sensor that you run into problems for post production.
Most software - Lightroom, Phase One - now support X-Trans, but there's always Fuji's own (free) RAW processing.
Should i get this or the canon m50? I want to take photos and will not use the video function....
I'd probably stay with the 80D. What specific improvements are you looking for? In what ways does the 80D not serve you?
@@MaartenHeilbron 80d image quality not up to mark 2 me
You are certainly not getting mark 2 me quality from the X-T100 either.
Sir, i'm gonna to ask you something. Why when power button on, it directed to off ?
I don't understand ... when it's on, it's on. How is it "directed" to off?
Is the shutter speed only accesible on Manual Mode?
Like all cameras with a PASM dial, shutter speed can be explicitly set in both Shutter Priority and Manual modes.
Great vid thanks!
Always my pleasure, thanks for commenting.
How did you get your camera to reach the lowest and highest ISO? My X-T100 just allows me to use the standard ISO (200-12800)
What mode are you in? Try P mode.
Can the dual on the far left be used for apature control in manual mode?
No, the only exposure control available in settings is ISO.
How do you active the flash of the camera?
There is a lever on the left side, under the function dial.
Can you show us its af speed with the usual test of a person running towards the camera?
I think you meant to ask Matt this question.
What you mean? I'm asking about af speed while video recording with the new x-t100, I couldn't find it anywhere else
I've never done a person running towards the camera scene for af speed. You're thinking of Matt Granger. Wait for the reviews, this was a preview. And lower your expectations. This is not the same as the X-T2, X-T20 or X-H1.
...or Chris Niccolls.
... or Chris Niccolls.
Quick question: is it possible to configure the Q button for back button AF?
Quick answer: The Q button can't be customized. The only custom button is the Fn button, which has an "Instant AF" selection, which seems to do the job when in manual focus. It's a bit awkward in placement. And holding it down triggers its ability to reset the customization.
See you next month fuji X-T100. 😘😘😘😍😍😍😍😇
Glad to hear you found a camera that pleases you.
Maarten Heilbron Thank you for making good review.☺
I appreciate the kind words, thanks!
Not as nice as the M50 but still a great camera. Excellent review. Please review the Fujifilm XF10. It seems like it would be a good street camera.
Thanks for the kind words, I'll get to the XF10 as soon as I can borrow one from Fuji Canada.
