How old are you guys and why are you joining? 🤔
29 because the civilian life is boring and to much out of pocket. I got a great city job and make great good money. But uncle and health insurance is killing me
I was 17 when I joined and I was ready for something new in life. Now at almost 32 years old and I’m still in. Go marines! 😊
Please bro I need your help yo it’s not life threatening right now but I just want to change the path my future on , I’m 21, I have a visa, I’m from Jamaica and I’m fit bro I’m currently involved in some stuff it’s not life threatening as I said but I just rather to be on the total right side. Green card wise I can’t seek asylum and marriage is something I can’t do by myself, please bro as an Military Member I’m asking
33, it was always a dream of mine to be in military since i was a goober, ended up dropping out of high school and became super overweight, beginning this year i lost 65 pounds and just got my ged, going to try out for special forces and ranger school
I’m freshly 30 and have been training yo get my weight right and my school stuff I am going to join as soon as my school stuff is done but being 30 now has been weighing on my mind it this video and all the future brothers on her have given me peace of mind Ty you all
33 joining the army and figured why not do it. It is my last chance to do it. Don't live with regrets.
My MOS 94p and going in as E3.
@@blakehawkins8280same brother. 32 joinjng
I'm 32 thinking about it. How did it go?
I went at 39 and I have no regrets. It was something I wanted to do that was on my Bucket list.
35 going
I went to BCT at 39 years old, I am now 41 years old and I am a E4 . I went in late cause life happen. Army BCT is hard physically and mentally but you can push through it, just listen to your DS and your Instructors they will teach you everything you need to know. So going early or late in life is still a good decision. I love being in the Army and still able to work my full time civilian job as and anaylist and raise 3 kids. So If I can do it at 39 anyone younger can. stay high speed !!
so you're reserve/guard instead of active duty
How was BCT at that age?
Its not that bad, Pretty easy if you can take the yelling and high stressful training schedule. But I always say remember what you signed up for and the mission you are expected to complete. There is no turning back once you arrive at receiving aka reception. Its alot easier to go through BCT if you lived life than going in as a teenager. @@Mr.Sanchez602

34 y/o married w/ 3kids, joining ARMY 68W E4 ACAS Active. Better late than never. Fulfilling my dreams, no regrets. Let’s go! CHHHEEEHOOO! 🤙🏽💪🏽
Respect. I’m 30 with 3 kids and SERIOUSLY considering it.
33, at 31 I decided I wasn’t dying 220lbs in that factory.
Exactly where I'm at rn. I'm not living like this anymore.
I'm 30yrs old and enlisting as an E3 Monday. I'm joining because I've always had a desire to serve and I want to learn a new trade as well as go back to college without obtaining debt. I got the last slot for Germany on my contract! I ship to fort leonard wood October 24th
I went to BCT as an E3 at 39. You will do great. havig able to live life before service is a great tool to have while in BCT and AIT . Makes it so much easier to get through your training. believe I was 39 with no prior service other thant Army JROTC so it helped alot. good luck
You will love Germany
I’m 40 and just passed MEPS. Been trying to get to this point for 20 yrs. From down the road in San Marcos. Thanks for your vids Ben!
Thanks for watching bro!
I went with a fella who was 41. He was a beast, professional powerlifter. So not the typical fella but he did well academically and socially.
I’m not at beast mode anymore but I can hold my own. Did 20 yrs in the oil field and can honestly say I’m in better shape than 60% of the teens that were at MEPS w/me. I am worried about the muscle break down and not having as short recovery windows as younger people but I figured what I lack, they’ll train me up on.
I went in at 39 to BCT at Fort Jackson it way better to go in later in your years trust me. I did. Good luck @@user-ec2xv6ly3l
Awesome choice to serve. You got my support. even at 40 its shows alot what us 35 plus guys and gals can do in BCT . and the young generation love that your doing it with them. Hooah
35 yrs old going thru enlistment process now! I like to procrastinate lol
I feel that lol
32 years old shipping out next week! 💪🏾
Hell Yeah your will enjoy it! I went in at 39.
@@88N-TransportSoldier I'm 37 and waiting on my physical and hope to ship out in may :)
Joined at 29. Age helped in that I was already used to having bosses tell me what to do and working hard 8-14 hour days. When your young fresh out of high school no work experience or just a part time job working 4 hour shift one to three days a week it takes adjusting.
However some older guys might not like having younger guys telling them what to do. But hell even in civilian jobs managers can be mid 20’s with employees in the 40’s.
All mind set. Every job has pros and cons.
…you will be called grandpa, old man, etc, but that’s a good thing. If no one likes you, no one will talk to you. Have fun all you older guys. Start running now.
Older guys had plenty of friends. They were more selective, stayed clear of the bad elements. I personally got a few "damn your old dude" but that's it, then they take you for who you are. Never got continously got called anything but my name 😂
I reserved my spot to train as a 68W yesterday with my recruiter and it felt fantastic clicking that "reserve" button. Going to MEPS in a few days for my physical and to actually enlist. Your videos have been so helpful for getting ready and knowing what to expect. Thank you sir 🙏 Keep up the good work
nice bro same here i go next week on Tuesday to meps, i hope i pass being 33
Hey I just want to thank you for the video me myself I'm currently 27 going to be turning 28 and decided that once I turn 30 ( mostly because I was super out of shape / overweight which I've already made progress ) to enlist your videos have inspired me and are also helping me get in the best shape possible for basic so I just want to thank you so much because you're probably with the top RUclips channels out there when it comes to information for joining the army
Thank you so much for watching!
Just turned 28. Now or never
You got this!
@@TheBenAllen. thanks man, I appreciate that. Your videos have been very informative
I’m 37 and getting set to go this summer. I’m in great shape, 5’11 and 170lbs. Always been active, so BT should be fun instead of not.
36 years old and I just passed through MEPS. I ship out to Fort Jackson on April 15th!
Just joined The Army National Guard at 37
Shipping out on tuesday, MOS is 68A, Biomed Equipment specialist! Thanks for all your videos, the past few months ive had them on repeat! Youre awesome man thank you🤘🏼
Thank you and best of luck!
Yessir ship out in 25 days in the 18X special forces pipeline. Good luck to you sir🫡
@@TheBenAllen. Writing this from my AIT room! Just graduated yesterday and am in Sam Houston for 68A ait! Thanks for everything man 🙏🏼
A con for many of the older people is leaving children and spouses but at the same time they’re your reason to push through basic even harder
I’m 33 and shipping out in 2 days for 11B.
Been going to the gym consistently the last 9-10 months and eating good. And I’m in better shape then when I was 20. I will bulldoze you get me now. I cannot wait to dive in. No regrets
I am talking to a recruiter tomorrow I am 39!!! Just joined the discord would love to hop into a VC and chat.
Body breaks down because people dont take care of it and eating all this trash ass processed food and going out trashing their bodies on weekends. Your body is a tool. In construction we say “take care of your tools and they’ll take care of you” same applies to your body, vehicle and anything else you rely on to get through life.
💯💯💯
38 years old right now trying to go through the process to get in.
Joined when I was 17, right out of high school. Best move I ever made.
For reals!
Joined when I was 17
I’d like to see a video on joining at the max age. Maybe interview someone that’s done it and get some testimonials from your viewers that have. They raised the enlistment age to 42, I noticed. A few years back, it was 38 I think, anyway I was in bad shape at 38. I thought, ‘Well, the dream is dead.’ Now that they’ve raised it, it’s back on. I’m 41, and I’ve been training for over a year to get in BMT shape-I’m nearly there. I have only about 8 months before I turn 42. I need to lose 55 lbs to meet the height-weight ratio. Three years ago, I weighed 460+ lbs, and now I’m at 245 lbs. I’ve had one or two injuries too though, so I’m expecting a waiver or two. That is, if they deem me fit enough, not a liability, and worth investing in at MEPs. 👀 Only time will tell!
Im 34 i just signed my contract yesterday. Ill be getting shipped out march 4. Ill be a 15-T Black Hawk maintainer
27 got 25B. Always wanted to join but as Mr.Allen said life got in the way when I was young. Now seems good so I'm doing it.
Going through enlistment process currently at 31. Glad to see comments section full of similar stories!
I had a year break in service and could not get back in fast enough. 18 yoa for the first enlistment and 22 yoa on the second. Great advice.
Enlisted last month at age 31, ship out November 12. I’ve been a health & fitness coach and a Jiu Jitsu instructor for the past decade. I am definitely fitter than 95-99% of people my age, but it’s true - joints just start hurting sometimes seemingly randomly. And I have a sustainable movement practice, too. Something I can mostly, reasonably do when I’m 90.
I joined for several reasons: because I’ve always wanted to experience the military and be a warrior (everything I’ve done so far in life has been with the warrior mindset), while coaching was providing a great lifestyle for me (travel, experiences, connections, etc.) it just wasn’t cutting it financially enough to start a family, own land, etc., I’ve been paying for all the skills/courses/workshops/certifications (survival, fitness, combatives, firearms, land nav, etc.) out of pocket when I could be getting payed to do these things, to add to my resume when I get out and’s want to continue being an instructor for these things, and I’ve become very patriotic over the past 5 years or so. 🇺🇸
Watching this now and thank you for making this video. I am 30 years old and I've gone through my degree programs and careers, but I am now looking into enlisting. I was wary because I am older now and as you said, my body is not as fit as when I was 18-25 years old. I will still look into it enlisting because it's one of those goals that was put on the backburner.
I'm 31. Leaving for basic as an E3 13b Ft. Sill April 30!
I went to BCT back in 2000 at age 20. I am 44 now and lost a lot of energy that i did have when i was younger
I'm 40 years old. Joining the army is something I've always wanted to do. Life out here has been a bitch. I talking to a recruiter now. Any tips you can give me? I'm going for 12N.
Don't join the Army at that age.
Dont get a labor intensive mos…get a desk job mos like tech. You do not wanna be doing all that at 40 cause they will be working you 10-15hr shifts
The tips are, if you insist on the military at that late age (and it doesn't help you can't become an officer), is to either go guard/reserves instread of active duty, or try to see if you can join the Air Force instead of the Army.
It is NOT an insult to your manhood to not enlist on active duty Army in a combat MOS. Please do NOT take it that way.
@@maebunny5298 Agree. Even if you are in fantastic physical shape at 40 years old, you should NOT be doing that crap like a 19 year old. You should focus on working SMARTER, NOT harder at that age.
Personally I would say, if possible, just join the Air Force instead of the Army at that late of an age.
The Army is not only physically more difficult but emotionally it's also more full of crap. The Air Force, while still the military and still having some nonsense, treats you like an adult more than the Army does.
And old person enlisting in the Air Force might still feel like a high school teenager..... but you're REALLY going to feel like a little CHILD in the Army. The Army is much more of a young man's game with the "battle buddies," having to stay in the barracks for potentially years longer, not being trusted to do PT on your own, all the formations, etc.
@golfery5119 I don't take it as an insult. I appreciate the advice. Enlisting is something I've always wanted to do. Now that I am older and have a family. I want to provide a different and better future for them. I know it's a lot of hard work. I already work 60 hrs + a week, and it's a physically demanding job. Are you a veteran?
Just signed on the dotted line. Infantry here I come at 27😂
One of the most naive and frankly stupidest things you can do is to do infantry at that age especially as enlisted. But if you as a 27 year old man really want to be a janitor (paint rocks, sweep motorpool, scrub toilets, mow lawns, etc) who's treated more like a farm animal and a little child then you do you. Hopefully you're reserves/guard instead of active duty, at least.
29 with 3 kids and joining active duty. Im really excited.
Not going to lie, I've seen a lot of 17-23 year olds that are jelly.
I have a question a little off topic. I enlisted last week and dont ship out until march 2024. Could i apply for citizenship after my first drill with RSP while waiting for my shipping date or will i have to wait all 5 months until i arrive to basic? I really appreciate it!
28 going through the FSPC here soon
Im joining at 29 so wish me luck its my last plan.
I'm so glad I stumbled on this video I'm 24 but by the time I'm done with my diploma I'll be 25 and I plan on joining the army was nervous only being the old guy as dumb as that sounds.
Im 28 just signed and swore into the army friday i regret not pushing harder in the past to join in
Can i join if i 4months into being 36 yr old???? Or am i too late???
@@xelAppaR haha just made my day..im getting my cdls n then i want military all next yr when im 37...is that stupid or smarter to go now??
@@menwaka1905 It's stupid now, and only something you should do as a last resort. Don't join the military at that late of an age. Especially as enlisted. If you insist on it, then do guard/reserves. If you insist on enlisting on active duty, then do so in the Air Force because at least the Air Force will treat you a lot more like an adult than the Army will.
Trust me, having to have "battle buddies" and be marched around everywhere after basic training will not be good at all at your age.
Join! Air Force!
Thinking about maybe joining, im turning 16 in a week and there still isn’t anything else I want to do. The five mos im most interested in are 89D, 19K, 18B, 18C, 12B. Has anyone here in the comments been in any of these and if so could you let me know how your experiences have been. Me and my friend have been talking about it a lot recently we both want to join just want to know what’s best
So the jobs your interested in are combat related which might not help a lot once you get out of the military. Best advice is to find an mos that translates well into the civilian world. Not sure how relaxed combat jobs are and if they’ll allow you to go to school alongside your military duties. If you really want to do a combat, just have a plan for when you get out
15:24 You will take what? I’m 36, kinda need this advice.
39 joining as a 12 Romeo. Swore in June 24th and ship out January 13th to Leonard Wood
I’m 35 and still joining
I’m 25 thought I’d be the oldest joining up but now I realize I won’t be lol
I'm 39... And I'm going into the Army National Guard in October. 11B Infantry. Trying to get that $20,000 Bonus and get some experience so I can eventually become a police officer.
I lived a very comfortable life. And for all the bull$hit and time I've wasted in life... I'm ready to eat dirty and get my a$$ whooped for the next 6 years👍.
31 and joining the army.
Did you have to polygraph for 35F?
probably
Dang, I should’ve joined when I wanted, now I think I might be too old 😭😭
how old are you?
YOUNGERRRRRRR
I just tured 40, still on good shape. Do I have a snowballs chance in he'll of joining a branch?
