A minute and a half in and I'm already questioning my life decisions over a throwaway piece of paper that is probably a self-aware joke but in reality a prelude to the actual video.
im not sure its quite that simple. Max is a great writer, he's not just dumping it out there. The Max in the show is a character, and yes you can see elements of himself through it, but in reality this character's words arent his words necessarily. Just like Goofball's words arent his words, despite him writing them. Its all in the realm of fiction. However, yes, fiction is meant to say something about reality. So I dont know, it might be more applicable to people in general, think, do you relate to this fictional Max character? What can you gain from that? Idk, just how I look at these videos I guess.

And what if max wasn’t a “talented” and “funny” animator. Would his life not be worth anything to anyone because he doesn’t provide something to the world that people value. Because guess what, that’s what the world is built off of, people wanting something beneficial in return, that’s why people have friends, they pay with time to have experiences that they enjoy, but if you can’t provide that because either you’re unlucky or you don’t meet the expectations of what a “fun” and “good” person is, you’re just flesh garbage taking up space; biting your time until you expire. All of this felt so real. Its like I was hearing the things that nobody has the depth or even the balls to admit to people let alone themselves. This was a masterpiece.

But then Goofball argued with Max about how dumb Max is for believing that his dreams would come to be. And they argued which that is drama. So the video title isn't clickbait. @@JazGalaxy happiness with one self from the task one has completed I believe is a decent definition. He's not happy with his work. Maybe he compares himself to others and it's bringing him down. Maybe he's scared that eventually people will move on and forget about him. Could even be the fact that he wants to improve but is completely stuck with this style. We don't know. I do hope though that he finds it and finds his own source of happiness. Its not easy for some people to reach that goal. Hell it took me until 20 just to find my own fashion style and be happy with my choice. Life is just like that though. People feel empty if they don't find that one thing that can make living worth it.
Constantly seeing Max berating himself through his own cartoon via a self insert 3d character is kinda getting worrying especially since he's essentially talking to himself throughout in what appears to be a substitute for actual therapy (hope you get help or something dude I admire you a lot)

I don't think that's a detail to be honest. It sounds more like something he added after recording his lines the first time, an addendum basically. His voice at that point didn't indicate a lower volume or muffling, it was just different audio quality.
What makes this whole thing even more surreal is when you realize that Max is essentially talking about himself... TO HIMSELF. This is a super painful and uncomfortably accurate representation of what it's like to be alone with your thoughts. Because sometimes, your worst enemy... is yourself. This is why maintaining your mental health is crucial.
This is why we find Goofball dislakable. We all have a little Goofball inside. For example I technically have no friends at 23. Today I tried to hang out with some people but I just ended up looking pathetic awkward and desperate. The rest of the afternoon I was beating myself for it, as if a little voice keep making fun of me /criticizing me for it. Gosh I hate Goofball for it and I would recommend Max to soft him in order to not hurt himself.
Is anyone gonna talk about how Max just animated an entire 20 minute video of a cartoon ghost that he voices berating himself for all his flaws while telling him that he's really lucky and has a great life while he doesn't.

Really hope that by making this episode and getting to vent out your feelings you at least feel a little better. Feel free to make as many of these types of videos as necessary. We rather would see you be in a good state of mind, than slaving away at cartoons for the sake of pleasing your audience. Not to mention these sorts of videos are still super interesting to watch.
Fancy seeing you here yuunari. It feels kinda weird to see people as talented as you and max have these types of problems , since to an outsider its kinda like you dont expect the creators you like to have self esteem issues because theyre so good at what they do , and you forget that although you deem their work to be amazing , they , since theyve crossed that skill treshold, probably dont see it that way. I guess the grass is always greener and the only way to be happy is to come to terms with the reality that if you cant find a way to be satisfied with yourself now , getting material goods , a relationship or even improving your skills isnt going to magically fix it.
I legit broke down crying at the hamster comparison. I’m stuck in a similar rut and was just smoking a bowl when you said the smoking weed, playing video games, and masturbating thing. I lost it man. Your work does not go unnoticed though man. Thinking about it, had a few customers come up to me at work and told me that we did such a great job and how the place is so different now and, it just felt GOOD knowing that what you’re doing isn’t going unnoticed. Yeah, me too. Especially since I’m in a similar state of mind myself currently. I’m unhappy and depressed, and don’t like myself. In some ways, Max venting his own feelings made me feel better in knowing I’m not the only one struggling, but also so sad because no one deserves to feel what it’s like to hate yourself or feel constantly miserable and worthless.
@@sacredsin7282 I fuckin feel that. The only way I got over hating me was by telling myself that this ideation of my personality is fake. That it's just a coping mechanism to assign meaning to a meaningless universe. Once I realized that, I figured out I could just choose to be whatever I wanted and what I wanted to be was someone who loved their self.
This is what being isolated with mental health issues does. You're all alone with your thoughts and they tend to be very critical and then you get REAL deep and introspective. Go out for a walk in the park, do some volunteer work, and say hello to old people, it does wonders.
That depends, I think if one can get professional work with someone able to unravel all the mess that we have in our heads or if it's minor things, it's good to be introspective. However one must learn not to rummage on things or jump into toxicity towards the self or others. Otherwise one gets stuck in a loop that gets them nowhere. And that's when getting out and being with nature and friends etc helps. But yeah, as someone who has immense issues with friendships and stuff, not always just "going outside, meeting people, etc" is the end all solution
I've been following you ever since your Apple.Mov video. You were a big inspiration for me to become an animator. I always saw such talented people when I was active in the brony community and I always wanted to be a part of that circle. Max, as a professionaly trained musician I assure you that not only you can draw, animate and write amazing scripts but you seem to have musical ear and you sing very nicely. It was already apparent back in your Minecraft video.
This video really opened my eyes to the people around me. Max talking about his problems made me realize that some friends who went offline or don't respond usually come from a lack of mutual goodness and that pushes them away from my talk about "how funny this video is" or "how horrible this issue is" and now I've come to realize I should be more aware of the people around me and how they feel instead of only me.
This cartoon literally brought me to tears. It was absolutely shocking how similar my struggles are with Max’s, especially the whole “getting bored of it a long time ago” thing. I hope you’re doing okay, Max, and we all love you.

I may just be some asshole on the internet, but I do care about the people like Max who bring people joy through their creativity. I've been watching his cartoons for years, and I always found it inspiring to know someone who struggled the same way I do was actually overcoming it and doing something incredible. So, if he ever does read this, you matter Max. If I could call you daily and tell you myself I would. That, and people care. If it wasn't for you bringing attention to your own mental health issues, I might never have actually tried to address my own. Thank you.

You still make decisions that impact you, or not. But you somehow still have that hope that everything might be okay in the future, or even now. It's strange to think the Jerry series came out over 10 years ago. I was about 11/12 at the time and those videos fell under the category of strange internet phenomenon I discovered before I was even allowed to have an account on this website. The Pony mov series also fell under that category. But I kept following you and all the silly, scarring, and wacky animations you churned out. I fell in love with the way you drew facial expressions. I was perplexed at the 2d faces on the 3d character models in these videos. I remember being particularly impacted by the Rosalina Speedpaint of all things, not just because it aided me in my gay awakening, but because watching you _draw_ her really made it click for me that what you do isn't _magic._ You're just a person, like me, and you sit down and painstakingly sketch and line and color each part of your art, like I do. And that brings me to today. I was a weird, depressed little middle schooler when I first stumbled upon your stuff. And now I'm a weird depressed little college student, still watching your stuff. And I've had my own battle with depression and wanting to, ya know, _Die_ and all that wondering about "place in the universe" and "why do i suck how come i don't love myself" stuff. The conclusion I eventually came to with the help of * 。*★,°*:.☆ _therapy_ $:*.°★* 。is that in life, we have to figure out what our Core Values are and then base everything we do off them. Forget school or jobs or hobbies for a moment, and just ask yourself, what are the most base important aspect of your life? Family? Relationships? Making money, making the world a better place, being happy, making others happy, leaving a legacy, being remembered? Pick the most important things to you and then make your _own_ purpose based on them. Don't attach your happiness to Italian Sportscars or things you _can't_ control. And,,, for what it's worth, you've had an influence on me. Maybe that doesn't mean anything to you, though. I think when a face on a platform gets more and more popular, you can forget that each of the hundreds of thousands of people who view your video are individuals with their own lives and are impacted, even in miniscule ways, by the things _you_ create and _you_ put into the world. They see what you make and they listen to your speak, and they're *all* changed by it. And I think creating timeless cartoons that will forever cling to the memories of people which ultimately construct their worldviews and personalities? Knowing something you've made has contributed to that for millions of people? It's not clickbait, he did, in fact, spend the entire video discussing the deep rooted internal drama with himself and his dreams. This is definitely what we all clicked the video for.

For videos like this, and like your Apu video, and your drug trip video. When Goofball mentioned about a 46 woman bagging groceries at the supermarket, I remembered an elderly ex-coworker who is a bagger. It kinda made me think, why would she be a bagger? She can be anything else she wants to be, she can work a different job but instead she's stayed working for a grocery company for YEARS. I've also worked for that company- for 6 years until I jetted because that cashier job made me feel like I was in purgatory. Same customers, a$$hole customers, goals, never getting enough hours either but of COURSE it was a good paying job. What sucked more was seeing old friends or other people who were doing much better financially and were totally successful, from the looks of it, of course. I later ended up working an at-home call center job but my anxiety started to affect me with each phone call. I quit that job because I did NOT like getting yelled at by elderly clients over dumb medication refills. I still have a long way to go in finding my way to a better career and financial stability. Until then, I will wallow and figure sh*t out. Edit: I may delete this. I guess I got kinda vulnerable and in the moment. Btw love ya, Max! I admire you, man.
that last joke hits, I'm in a relationship with someone who feels exactly the same as Max here, suffering from depression so I try to keep them going and sometimes it feels like I'm talking to someone from beyond a glass wall, only taking notice after my efforts have already been spent.
Couldn’t care less about dream. I clicked on this video because it was something you made, regardless of the content. And the fact you took the time to make this, and put it out there, is admirable. Genuinely hope you’re okay. And to remember they you are a fantastic artist, animator, and have a good sense of humour, but also knows when the right time to take things seriously. This show went from talking about movies to basically a deep think analysis of Max G's neuroses, with a heaping helping of satire to get it through our systems, in an attempt to call for help in his time of need. Max, my dude, it's not likely you'll see this, but for anyone who needs to hear it: Your life is so much more important than you'll ever realize. Your significance in this world may not be attributable to the levels we perceive to be "important" like beautiful and wealthy people, but your genuine importance is just as significant as anyone else's. You're a magnificent individual who provides so much joy and delight into the lives of others, and will create lasting legacies in your time spent on this desolate, damp rock hurtling through a sea of darkness. It's gonna be okay man, just hang in there.
Watching this makes me feel kind of filthy. I think I've learned way too many things about you that I really never should have. But this is such a...human piece of work. This did not feel like a silly YT cartoon but a piece of true self expression, true art. Hope you got something out of it.
Max, the bad things you say about yourself simply aren't true. The art that you put out on RUclips is watched and adored by tens of thousands of people, and the laughs that you give us is VERY important. Your videos help me feel better when I'm down, and I'm sure many others feel the same way. This is a nice but ultimately pointless gesture that Max directly criticizes in this very video. I personally don't know him but the situation of being trapped and whenever you try to address them you only recieved pity comments from people that aren't in any position to help you is a really shitty one, and I just can't help but feel bad for Max if that's the case.

The Best part about this video is that it actually IS about Mask by Dream. The problem with Dream's video is that it just is him SAYING he's unhappy without actually exploring why. Hoo boy, was this relatable. And the saddest part is how there was no real resolution in the video. Because there's no real resolution in real life, either. We just do what we can with what we've got, and some of us... just don't have much.
His past video where he was having the mental breakdown about who even to believe is something I unironically went through a couple months before he put it out, and now watching this it's hitting the same way. This is almost more helpful than the actual therapy I've been taking for almost a year now, and that's not to say that therapy hasn't been helpful - it sure has. It really helped for him to drive home the "determine what your happiest life is" so I can have an idea of what I really should be working towards.

There is the alt-right, who make race realist arguments, and then there are neo-cons who make culture-based arguments. @@JazGalaxy happiness with one self from the task one has completed I believe is a decent definition. He's not happy with his work. Maybe he compares himself to others and it's bringing him down. Maybe he's scared that eventually people will move on and forget about him. Could even be the fact that he wants to improve but is completely stuck with this style. We don't know.
I do hope though that he finds it and finds his own source of happiness. Its not easy for some people to reach that goal. Hell it took me until 20 just to find my own fashion style and be happy with my choice. Life is just like that though. People feel empty if they don't find that one thing that can make living worth it.

I don't think that's a detail to be honest. It sounds more like something he added after recording his lines the first time, an addendum basically. His voice at that point didn't indicate a lower volume or muffling, it was just different audio quality.
What makes this whole thing even more surreal is when you realize that Max is essentially talking about himself... TO HIMSELF.
This is a super painful and uncomfortably accurate representation of what it's like to be alone with your thoughts.

This is what being isolated with mental health issues does. You're all alone with your thoughts and they tend to be very critical and then you get REAL deep and introspective. Go out for a walk in the park, do some volunteer work, and say hello to old people, it does wonders.
Also, criticism of the self can be its own form of indulgence playing into the larger shame/guilt at the root of the problem.
Being tall will never be a bad thing, unless you have some sort of health problem causing it.

That depends, I think if one can get professional work with someone able to unravel all the mess that we have in our heads or if it's minor things, it's good to be introspective.
However one must learn not to rummage on things or jump into toxicity towards the self or others. Otherwise one gets stuck in a loop that gets them nowhere. And that's when getting out and being with nature and friends etc helps.
But yeah, as someone who has immense issues with friendships and stuff, not always just "going outside, meeting people, etc" is the end all solution

It's strange to think the Jerry series came out over 10 years ago. I was about 11/12 at the time and those videos fell under the category of strange internet phenomenon I discovered before I was even allowed to have an account on this website. The Pony mov series also fell under that category. But I kept following you and all the silly, scarring, and wacky animations you churned out. I fell in love with the way you drew facial expressions. I was perplexed at the 2d faces on the 3d character models in these videos. I remember being particularly impacted by the Rosalina Speedpaint of all things, not just because it aided me in my gay awakening, but because watching you _draw_ her really made it click for me that what you do isn't _magic._ You're just a person, like me, and you sit down and painstakingly sketch and line and color each part of your art, like I do. And that brings me to today.
I was a weird, depressed little middle schooler when I first stumbled upon your stuff. And now I'm a weird depressed little college student, still watching your stuff. And I've had my own battle with depression and wanting to, ya know, _Die_ and all that wondering about "place in the universe" and "why do i suck how come i don't love myself" stuff. The conclusion I eventually came to with the help of * 。*★,°*:.☆ _therapy_ $:*.°★* 。is that in life, we have to figure out what our Core Values are and then base everything we do off them. Forget school or jobs or hobbies for a moment, and just ask yourself, what are the most base important aspect of your life? Family? Relationships? Making money, making the world a better place, being happy, making others happy, leaving a legacy, being remembered? Pick the most important things to you and then make your _own_ purpose based on them. Don't attach your happiness to Italian Sportscars or things you _can't_ control.
And,,, for what it's worth, you've had an influence on me. Maybe that doesn't mean anything to you, though. I think when a face on a platform gets more and more popular, you can forget that each of the hundreds of thousands of people who view your video are individuals with their own lives and are impacted, even in miniscule ways, by the things _you_ create and _you_ put into the world. They see what you make and they listen to your speak, and they're *all* changed by it. And I think creating timeless cartoons that will forever cling to the memories of people which ultimately construct their worldviews and personalities? When Goofball mentioned about a 46 woman bagging groceries at the supermarket, I remembered an elderly ex-coworker who is a bagger. It kinda made me think, why would she be a bagger? She can be anything else she wants to be, she can work a different job but instead she's stayed working for a grocery company for YEARS. I've also worked for that company- for 6 years until I jetted because that cashier job made me feel like I was in purgatory. Same customers, a$$hole customers, goals, never getting enough hours either but of COURSE it was a good paying job. What sucked more was seeing old friends or other people who were doing much better financially and were totally successful, from the looks of it, of course. I later ended up working an at-home call center job but my anxiety started to affect me with each phone call. I quit that job because I did NOT like getting yelled at by elderly clients over dumb medication refills. I still have a long way to go in finding my way to a better career and financial stability. Until then, I will wallow and figure sh*t out.

This is a nice but ultimately pointless gesture that Max directly criticizes in this very video. I personally don't know him but the situation of being trapped and whenever you try to address them you only recieved pity comments from people that aren't in any position to help you is a really shitty one, and I just can't help but feel bad for Max if that's the case.

Hoo boy, was this relatable. And the saddest part is how there was no real resolution in the video. Because there's no real resolution in real life, either. We just do what we can with what we've got, and some of us... just don't have much.
Working hard does reward you sometimes, but it's true that getting lucky is the main way in having the best life ever
His past video where he was having the mental breakdown about who even to believe is something I unironically went through a couple months before he put it out, and now watching this it's hitting the same way. This is almost more helpful than the actual therapy I've been taking for almost a year now, and that's not to say that therapy hasn't been helpful - it sure has. It really helped for him to drive home the "determine what your happiest life is" so I can have an idea of what I really should be working towards.
Max and his art have been important for over a decade. The things he created and himself have forever become a part of HISTORY. He will always be cherished by us❤
