One suggestion for fusion is to use an online image to svg converter so you don't have to sketch over the original image. Other than that, great tutorial for cnc plasma cutting.
Thanks. I prefer making them from scratch. Ive noticed the trace tool create a ton of points. If i sub that file out to a fiber table, all the curved sections look choppy because its a bunch of tinny straight lines making up the curve. Could be the program i used. Hi there ! I love your videos and as a matter of fact I am using your "easy button tutorial" to get myself started or practised. I don't understand the letter removing part why I am not removing the unwanted section of the letters. I have gone over your video 1,000 times and still no luck! I guess I could use a different font but is there a trick I am missing? Thanks for your time!
Hi Kyle, I have just had some luck manipulating the line tool issue for making the e and a in EASY . Im not sure what my issue was but it took a long time to be able to remove the lines to open up the letters for a full look. I am just learning the Fusion 360 and thanks to you I do have a path to go on! Cheers
As far as I can see it appears I have to blow up the image to be able to manipulate the lines for removal . It seems to take a few toys but knowing what I am after is the difference maker. Thanks for your attention Kyle!@@SpicerDesignsLLC
I'd like to save your vid in my Fusion 360 and plasma cut playlists but you don't have the button to. just the "share " one... could you check this for us please? this vid is very useful ! thanks !
Thanks for this video. It's provided a lot of assistance with getting started. I am having one problem that I can't get past though so perhaps maybe you could offer a suggestion. When I create text and explode it the same that you did for your easy button, when I go to create a tool path it doesn't create a path for the text. Only a path for the outside body. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Did you watch my new video. I talk about fonts and text. I would check that one out to see if it answers your question. Otherwise, send me a clip on instagram if you can.
Nice Video. I use Vectric V Carve pro for my drawing for my plasma designs but always wanted to try Fusion 360 you make it look easy but I know it’s not.
No problem! I found a file and altered it so it would have the flat points. I have a set for sale right now. $215 includes shipping. Shipping is around $85 because of the weight.
Great video Kyle. These are very helpful for me. Q. The Fire Control screen appeared to have straight sections of lines around the circumference but when watching the torch head and the finished part it appeared round. Can you explain? Thanks for sharing.
I think its just a generic display of the cut file. I dont think it has the same capacity as the auto cad software. Theres probably a more technical way to explain it.
I am. I think its a sheetmetal tool or folding tool. I havent used it because i dont have many jobs with bends. I do want to mess around with it though
I use it regularly...it's a game changer if you have a press brake and plasma table. Basically start with flat piece of your bracket, extrude to sheet metal thickness then go to sheet metal tab and convert body to sheet metal object. Once you've done that you can click edges and create flanges. Then you can create flat pattern which will allow you to generate a DXF to export for the plasma cutter.
Would you be able to do a video with a DXF file. I would like to see how you take a picture of say a moose in the woods and program it start to finish. I a bit of a slow learner lol
47 yrs in the welding trade welding all types of metals I think definitely had a factor in me not being able to retain any knowledge. Especially the time when the mechanics brought a piece that needed welding after they cleaned the grease off with brake cleaner. The moment I started welding on it the fumes were like mustard gas I lost my breath and had difficulty breathing. They took me to Emergency were I sat for about 6 hrs before being released
Great review of using Fusion. I've been using sheetcam. I like how you went over the canvas function and excited to try that out to use on my pro. BTW. What method did you use to sawtooth your slats? Cheers
Thanks! I designed the slats on fusion 360. I made the pointed and then knocked an 1/8 off the point so it didn't scratch material. I just shipped out a set of them if you're interested. $220 shipped. Shipping is insane on them because of the weight.
New at cnc plasma cutting. I can't seem to get my XYZ axis lined up the same way as yours. When I have my Y at the top left, X at the bottom right and the z at the middle bottom. It has top showing front. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Yes. Go to preferences, general, then theres a box where you can select Z to be up. That should fix it. Another viewer shared that with me because i was having the same issue.
Hey, I'm new to this stuff and I was just wondering, when you uploaded the picture to the grid, could the software automatically trace the picture or do you have to do that yourself?
There are programs that can turn an image into a bitmap. Inkscape is one of them. Im not a huge fan of doing it that way. Its kind of a dirty file in my opinion. Creates a lot of vector points, just not as clean.
Great video and everything works until I get to the geometry of the cutting tool. Even after selecting what I want cut, the simulation show cutting just a big circle (outside of the parameters I cut). In your video, your contour selection changes from “select” to “chain” but mine won’t. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot and resolve?
Langmuir should just give you some good 2D LayoutSoftware, there is no 3D when working with plate steel. Why muddy the waters? There's no Router attachment for Langmuir. What you really need is some good vectorization software where you just feed the raster (raw) image into it and out comes the Vector file. No stupid overlays or tracing. After it's vectorized you could then scale it up or down.
They dont have any software for theyre table except firecontrol which communicates with the table. I use some of the 3d features for my multi layer signs and turning the designs into a body for creating the cut path. Theres also a unfold tool for adding brakes in the steel too. I know a lot of people use sheetcam
hola. tengo un problema. Cuando va haciendo la trayectoria de corte, disminuye la velocidad al llegar a curvas y me genera problemas con el material por que lo quema demas. Como se podra solucionar para que siempre mantenga la misma velocidad?
I’m super new new to plasma cutting ,I tried the easy button as well, followed all the steps but it’s showing backwards YSAE . But choosing BACK will show as Easy. When choosing FRONT my (Z) on the top left and my (x) on the bottom right, looking at your screen your (Z) it’s on the bottom left and your (X) bottom right .
I do have a video where I explain the orientation of the sketch plane. Im not sure what video it was but I would recommend watching all of our Fusion videos. Lots of good info and tips. Also check out the comments in those videos. Some of the viewers added some great pointers as well.
Around 13:50 or so, what's up with the green corners and strange green patterns in the circle?. I just got those recently and have no clue what they represent. Thx.
I may have missed it, but how do you tell Fusion the cut order? I'd assume you want to do the letters first and then cut out the circle afterwards, I'm just not sure how you tell it to do that.
I’m just starting to mess around with this 2d and 3d modeling. I’m an IPad user and have been trying out shapr 3d cad. It says it can turn my work into Dfx files. Will this be a viable option to learn on or do you have another recommendation for a tablet bases option? I cant wait to get one of these plasma tables for my shop.
I dont know about any tablet options. My recommendation would be to get a laptop. Gives your more options and and control. But i could be wrong. Thats just what im used too. I know some of the laser engravers have apps you can use to create file. Sorry im not much help with this.
I have a question that maybe you can help me with. My setup I have my desk top where I will be designing my projects, and I have my laptop which is connected to my Langmuir system, my question is, once you finish your cutting process on fusion 360, how do you upload it to a flash drive to use on the remote computer? I hope you can help me with this, and thank you for your videos, they're better explained than the Langmuir videos 😃👍
Its easy. I use my laptop for everything but you can just put the .nc file on a flash drive and use that in your laptop to make the cut. Once you do the post process it will create a file, you can save that right to the flash drive.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Thank you, yes after messing with it a little more I realized I had not set up my Post Process, and I see just what you said, However 😯 watching the video from Langmuir to set up Post Process, I realized that the video that they have is for an older version of fusion 360, and following step by step, once I click on the G1-G2 box, I get a totally different set up window, now I just have to mess with it to see what I can figure out. Thank you once more for your videos and your help 😎👍
Do you think you could redo this video but talk like about 20x’s slower. You lost me at the beginning and I wasn’t able to catch up. I actually watched the entire video and I don’t even have the ability to do this. It’s pretty interesting! But you need to talk much slower for us old people in the back.😂 and maybe pause for 69 seconds between each sentence so I can figure out where I’m at.😁 Keep ‘em coming!

😅finally relaized my xyz orientation is different from yours... Was stuck trying to figure out why my simulation was out of wack! Your xyz is set to front and mine says top....two long nights finally i get to move foward... Thanks for your vids!
Top is right. Leave it on top. Mine got jacked up somehow and its now corrected.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC is there an easy way to inform on how to set up the post processor?... Langmuirs how to vids are outdated it seems....
Im not completely following the issue you having. Feel free to email me and i can try to help you work through it.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC
Hi Kyle, I have just had some luck manipulating the line tool issue for making the e and a in EASY . Im not sure what my issue was but it took a long time to be able to remove the lines to open up the letters for a full look. I am just learning the Fusion 360 and thanks to you I do have a path to go on! Cheers
So you got it all figured out then? If not im happy to help.
As far as I can see it appears I have to blow up the image to be able to manipulate the lines for removal . It seems to take a few toys but knowing what I am after is the difference maker. Thanks for your attention Kyle!@@SpicerDesignsLLC
I'd like to save your vid in my Fusion 360 and plasma cut playlists but you don't have the button to. just the "share " one... could you check this for us please? this vid is very useful ! thanks !
Huh. Thats weird. Ill check into it
@@SpicerDesignsLLC it works ! thanks ! have a nice day !
Bloody rippa mate
Nice Video. I use Vectric V Carve pro for my drawing for my plasma designs but always wanted to try Fusion 360 you make it look easy but I know it’s not.
Thanks for all the tips! I like the table slats. Did you design those or did you find a cut file?
No problem! I found a file and altered it so it would have the flat points. I have a set for sale right now. $215 includes shipping. Shipping is around $85 because of the weight.
thanks
How to desing a round and / or rectangular cooking grate and save it for future use
Are you familiar with drawing things in 3d then flattening them out and cutting them?
Creates a lot of vector points, just not as clean.
cool stuff
Great video and everything works until I get to the geometry of the cutting tool. Even after selecting what I want cut, the simulation show cutting just a big circle (outside of the parameters I cut). In your video, your contour selection changes from “select” to “chain” but mine won’t. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot and resolve?
Did you ever figure out a solution to this?
hey Kyle, what thickness of steel did you use for that button?
14 ga mild steel
@@SpicerDesignsLLC Thanks man
Just one question, im new in this. Can i download non commercial (free) for home use - plasma cutting. Thanks.
Yes you can. Its a 1 year free trial. Its still free after a year but it restricts you from some features after that.
@@SpicerDesignsLLC thanks 🙏 I’ll watch your series and find out what I am doing wrong
Around 13:50 or so, what's up with the green corners and strange green patterns in the circle?. I just got those recently and have no clue what they represent. Thx.
Its nothing. Its just some kind of boundary around the cut path. Im not what its purpose is.
I may have missed it, but how do you tell Fusion the cut order? I'd assume you want to do the letters first and then cut out the circle afterwards, I'm just not sure how you tell it to do that.
Fusion will process that automatically but you can enter it manually if you have a certain preference on that cut.
Do you think a 20 gallon 175 psi air compressor would work?
Hard to say. I have a 30 gallon 175psi. It works and seems to keep up. Im sure it would get you but until you could upgrade
What consumables are you using?
Are those table slats modified?
Yes. They are a pointed slat. And i removed an 1/8 off the point so it would not scratch material as bad.
how many amps do you have your machine set to cut 14 gauge steel?
I think its on 30-35.
What type of laptop are you running fusion on?
Im using a macbook air
noice!
Do you think you could redo this video but talk like about 20x’s slower. You lost me at the beginning and I wasn’t able to catch up.
I actually watched the entire video and I don’t even have the ability to do this. It’s pretty interesting!
But you need to talk much slower for us old people in the back.😂 and maybe pause for 69 seconds between each sentence so I can figure out where I’m at.😁
Keep ‘em coming!
Haha. I know i had to move through it quick so it was 45 minutes long. Ill just come over and personally train you on it. Thanks for watching the whole video.
