      I actually just made a splash guard 😅 I was worried about water getting into the electronics as well. I have a shelf I made on the bottom of the table with some L channel and aluminum cutouts that holds my razorweld. Mainly because cords draped everywhere drive me insane and I already had to fab a new voltage divider cable because I caught it and snapped it off. Which I added an inline capacitor to level it out better and it works much better more stable voltage readings no random torch outs. To make the guard I just measured the distance of the torch mount bolts and height range of the z axis designed out from that. I ran a slot mount instead of a fixed mount to add a spring system to it. So when it touches off the guard it moves up and back down without binding up the torch height control. If you have a sheet metal bender that's perfect. If not you should definitely get one it's a solid investment and will get used once you have it... you'll get tons of new ideas trust me. I generally program a small v shaped notch along the edges where I'm going to bend the part for alignment and bend relief.

    • @fireteamomega2343
      @fireteamomega2343 6 месяцев назад +1

      And actually if I had to redo the guard I would have designed it so the front portion was a separate cutout piece with a hinge so changing consumables would be easier. Which I still might do at some point

    You don't need to use a calculator. Let Fusion do the math for you. If you enter 24/46 into the scale factor field, Fusion will do the calculation. It's also more accurate since its not rounding the result. Just a quick tip.

    Hey Kyle! Wanted to suggest tapping a T fitting and valve into your compressor line to run bubblers in your new water table. Also, you can use the positive air pressure routed to an RV water tank under your CNC machine. RV water tank is lower profile. Open air valve to water reservoir and it will push water up into your table.

    Really like you talking costs and such, it helps us get a better feel for what signs and other fabs go for. My completely uneducated guess, would have guessed $300-$600 for a sign like that.

    Kyle, just throwin this at ya. Harbor Freight engine hoist, two 2"x4"x5' , 4 'C' clamps, and either 2ratchet straps or rope. Make an Egyptian pyramid from the apex of the hoist to the sides of the steel sheet for lifting to the table,.....or wait for the Keystone girl to stand opposite you to lift the steel. I like my first idea better, cause it's on YOU if the sheet falls.

    I have to play with my spring back setting in the post processor to get my thc to start at the correct height.
    I check it with a .060 shim by starting the cut profile in fire control with the plasma cutter off, then go back and forth between fusion 360's post processor spring back setting and re-uploading the cut profile in fire control until I get it torch height set correctly. Usually only takes a couple of tries.

A thought: (not necessarily a good one) - in your present design, you have a diagonal that extends from the bottom right of the union to the bottom stripe. Mayne you could replicate that on the right side of the flag to solve the stability issue and save the trouble of making the rod.

    Regarding price, I rarely purchase custom made items, and am surprised medium to large box stores charge so much for stuff. I blame the markup on why stuff is so high.

    Really comes down to how quick you think you could do it. I have a different table that could do all of that in one cut session and at 200+ ipm. If I had the DXF files ready to go, probably around the $550 mark all in is what I would quote someone for this. Double the material cost (roughly $40 for half a sheet 4x8 14ga x2 = $80) + $50-70 consumable fee (paint, electrode, tip, electricity) + roughly 4 hours shop time which would include the like 10 minutes this was being cut. No DXF, add a $75/hr draft/Etsy search fee (cheaper than shop rates since it only wear and tear on my desk chair), minimum 1 hr. If it took 10 hours, my rates would be in the $1150+ range.

    No math need to scale you can just input size you want divide by original size. Something like this if the body is 12 stock and you need 24 just input in like this 24/12 in the scale factor spot. 🍻

I have to weld them into the arch that’s gonna go over the driveway. I’m a fellow master electrician, Locall 99 and a disabled vet so do the best you can on the price thanks brother.

    A sign is worth what someone is willing to pay. So it's worth $400. But, you could probably get $1,200 from someone.

      I gotcha. I took a good part of the day to film it. Takes me another day to edit the video and make the thumbnail. Thats about as fast as i can make a video. Most of them take multiple days to film and sometimes editing too. Depends on the project.

    • @SpicerDesignsLLC

      Thank you! If they are indoor i just use spray paint. A professional paint job on the larger signs would cost too much for most customers. Outdoor signs i have powder coated.

    Lately Ive been running my water at only like 1/2" deep. Not much splash and a bit better scale to knock off. Just something that works for me. Ive been using vinegar for cleaning the millscale off. Just a tub I soak it in overnight, im sure muratic acid is way more effective, but then I have some vinegar ready to go for uh salad dressing and what not. Hah hah another upside down machine. Too hilarious. Oh yeah and also, I cant really see any difference between the performance of the 20W vs the 40W laser, Im starting to think its a marketing scam with just different sticker. With that in miind, use the C02 laser, mark the tools with snap-on and double the charge. ha ha Price, metal alone is $100, tools $60, time $800 ish, tooling $250 = 1200 ish. this comments way to long
