This is really fantastic footage; I'm a little surprised why a front shovel wasnt used to load the trucks but I'm by no means an expert. I've been lucky enough to witness RH200 shovels loading Cat 789 trucks at close hand. The sights and sounds of such a thing are impossible to describe in words but footage like this is certainly the next best thing! Awesome mate.
Guys while the bench does look to low, he could well be on his last flitch to the coal seam, perfect bench height is beetween the top rear of the body sidewall and the rear of the truck body floor, best way to match a digger to a truck is if the truck carries 100 ton, you need a 200 ton digger, 150 ton a 300 ton digger, 240 ton truck and a 480 ton digger, you get the picture.
Hi mineservices. This is the first time I have seen this although I have viewed the '400' many times. Thanks for the upload. I will sub if I haven't already. Take care. mrbluenun
Excellent video !! I have been always fascinated with these monster machines. Does anyone have any information about the two electric motors powering each of the rear wheels of the giant dump truck? How much horse power and torque and what kind of current numbers they pull, I understand the gear reduction is like 30.8:1
its an accident waiting to happen, you should never double bench ,higher than the cab on digger ,to fix this lift the height of the bench up to at least the height of the duck tail ,or the back of truck tray ,thus lifting the bench height, and lessing the chance of excavator getting buried ,also create a big hole in front of digger ,so if any bulk material falls dowm,it will land in the hole rather than land on you,Satety first ,production will follow
@FUCKINROCKIT No you always go forward to the end of your cut and then go back the full distance on the same bench. When you do it as he is in the vid and back the trucks in on angle, roughly 45 degrees you establish a line of site from cab to cab with the truck and digger which adds an element of safety to the situation. Check Komatsu PC5500 vids on youtube, that is where i used to work and it shows it much better than this vid as you are in the cab of the PC5500 for the ride.
@FUCKINROCKIT Basically he advances forward knocking the material down and into a hole in front of him and then goes back in pretty much the same tracks he went forward in removeing the bench he was on and then allowing the trucks to move over

That would be an awesome double bench if he was sitting higher! You could really pump out some loads!
Bucket reduced from 50 cubic yards to 37 (cubic yards) = 28.2885297 m3 , still a monster. I used to work for O&K Australia thanx for the vids.
