Excellent video !! I have been always fascinated with these monster machines. Does anyone have any information about the two electric motors powering each of the rear wheels of the giant dump truck? How much horse power and torque and what kind of current numbers they pull, I understand the gear reduction is like 30.8:1

Bucket reduced from 50 cubic yards to 37 (cubic yards) = 28.2885297 m3 , still a monster. I used to work for O&K Australia thanx for the vids.

I drive one of those the are very easy to drive but they looks complicated, and you dont need much to drive one of these just drive a normal car and you can drive one of this (also i drive a KOMATSU 830E, KOMATSU 930E and the CATERPILLAR 797F)

its an accident waiting to happen,you should never double bench ,higher than the cab on digger ,to fix this lift the height of the bench up to at least the height of the duck tail ,or the back of truck tray ,thus lifting the bench height,and lessing the chance of excavator getting buried ,also create a big hole in front of digger ,so if any bulk material falls dowm,it will land in the hole rather than land on you,Satety first ,production will follow

@FUCKINROCKIT No you always go forward to the end of your cut and then go back the full distance on the same bench. When you do it as he is in the vid and back the trucks in on angle, roughly 45 degrees you establish a line of site from cab to cab with the truck and digger which adds an element of safety to the situation. Check Komatsu PC5500 vids on youtube, that is where i used to work and it shows it much better than this vid as you are in the cab of the PC5500 for the ride.

@FUCKINROCKIT Basically he advances forward knocking the material down and into a hole in front of him and then goes back in pretty much the same tracks he went forward in removeing the bench he was on and then allowing the trucks to move over

@dragonriversteel yeah making money on a problem that doesnt exist.that made me laugh.you would think that after they sell or get (cores) so many of one type of cylinder they might look and scratch their heads.

@robby844 , I fully understand, bent rams. It seems as though they would redesign where the rams are placed. But like the manufacturer's say...why spend money on a problem that doesn't exist. As long as they are making money,hand over fist,they simply don't care. To often company's don't listen to the folks out in the field with a problem . Let them do nothing about the problem. Bucyrus RH340 front hydraulic shovel or hoe will surely take the place of Komatsu.

@dragonriversteel yeah i know.and i got nothing good to say about the machine.we have had nothing but trouble with rams bending/bowing and hose trouble.komatsu wont stand behind it.

@robby844 , Yeah,that would be the part. You would think that, Komatsu would come out with a beefier swing motor. I can't say anything bad about the equipment.

@dragonriversteel or could you mean the most famous replacement of japatsus? we have 4 that eats em every 2 months.

Most likely had a swing motor re-placement...hence the turning of the unit.

A 4100 XPB/ 495 are larger then the PC5500 and Bucyrus has a 795 on the drawing board that nobody has ever purchased because it is too large for the current generation of haul trucks.
