Awesome, thank you. My trunk camera gets stuck in the winter time so I just pull up and then put car in reverse backup camera comes on and then I park it. It resets everything. It does this when weather gets a bit cold and it gets stuck mid frame.

I sort of figured it out om my own, except I used a steel ruler that was wider then the VW key, because of the width of the slot. I pushed forward, then left and right, nothing The narrower key was the trick, so simple when you know. Thank You.

My beetle latch has seized. My release latches for the back seats are in the trunk. They are not where yours are. àny idea how to get the rear seats down without manually, without pulling the latch?
Buy this item, spray it all around the latches and the inside and see it will unseize it. Not a guarantee though amzn.to/3MbwaGL

Am I the only one whose latch won't open even after this? I tried to use the key (even followed the handbook) and it does not open for some reason. The latch itself just won't move

It is a temporary fix. You need to replace the motor unfortunately.

@@ejsgarage Sorry my friend, but it's way to small for any adult.... maybe a little child, the convertible has a different body at the back: reinforced in case of an accident or roll-over....
How about using a long and thin metal stick but make sure it is firm enough so it won’t bend. Shine the trunk with flash flight and try to reach it using the stick.

Somebody’s VW bettle was trunk mechanical opener, and there is no place to insert the key on VW bettle
Good tip but took way to long to get to the point and could have done without the lantern promotion
Have you tried to do it without a lantern? It is very dark
Apparently this is not an '04 because the logo doesn't move and there is not a slot
