Windows deleting the Linux partition was the most accurate part of this video lmao
Thats also how I solve Windows problems on Macintosh. Then make a new one fresh because it is actually faster than solving some problems.
Me accidentially deleting my Windows partition when messing around with installation disks 😢
@@esconis5304 You should do it on purpose and join our ranks. Linux beckons, do you heed the call?
Linux deletes Windows partition better.
I’ll take Linux over both any day. Not for the price, which is huge, but for the fact that I have full control over everything my pc does thank you for your time.
I was expecting Linux to come back by booting off a flash drive
Fun Facts: (GNU/)Linux runs almost on every supercomputer (at least the first 500) and over 40% of the internet is based on Linux servers
Not over 90%. It’s more closer to 50%. Windows is still probably roughly 40%, Illumos runs a fraction for Samsung and probably others, and FreeBSD shovels out a huge chunk of North American internet because Netflix uses them to distribute video content. In 2015 it was almost 40% of internet traffic, but I’m sure it has gone down as Netflix has lost subs. Linux does as a matter of fact run on all top 500 super computers
Edit: turns out my number is dated. It’s 80/20 now but the 80% is Unix/Unix-like in the numbers I see
@@classicrockonly sorry, my mistage
@@Imperator23Lp you’ll probably be correct in the near future ;) the stats are interesting bc it’s accounting for only web servers and the reporting is strange bc the source people go to says 80% Unix/Unix-like. Just under 40% of that is confirmed Linux and the other 40% is unknown. Meaning it could be Linux or another Unix-like OS. Also strange is in the past it reported 0% Red Hat (RHEL), but I have a hard time believing that, unless maybe Red Hat is primarily used in infrastructure, not web servers
@43_XA_Ashutosh Sononey Yes, I know what Unix-like means and what OS is/isn't Unix-like, it's only interesting in the report that they were unable to differentiate. A lot of sites also won't tell you the OS they are, only the web server they use so I wonder how they figure out which server is Unix-like, Linux specifically, BSD specifically, or Windows, etc.
Jesus, and over 40% of humans breathe air. I mean you're not wrong but the error bars are bigger than the graph itself.
1:41 "Partition deleted." 🤣 love that!
That was great. Every OS definitely has flaws. Although, with Linux, you can at least fix them. :P
Chances are someone already did or it's a licensing/documentation problem.
@@PixLgams if you are in a rolling release chances are that if an update breaks something it will be solved in an update in a few hours, a day in the worst cases
Problem with macos, call Apple.
Problem with windows, call anyone but Microsoft.
Problem with linux, your fault, probably, but you can fix it yourself, but you also never actually will.
@@alenasenie6928 Well, if you're on LTS, chances are that, nothing breaks, because it was already tested for a good amount of time

We need more videos like this. Adding linux to the fray was fun. Maybe you could also include gaming to the mix, now that steam os and proton work really well. Good job man.
I agree its more entertaining but SteamOS is still linux which was one of the jokes in the skit 🤣
i only use linux and i pc game on it and runs the one and only game i play FFXIV quite well :)
There are better Linux gaming solutions than SteamOS too
steamOS *IS* Linux. They just added a GUI over it for the Steam deck and bundled Proton with it.

@@toomflussiggrillanzunderfu8828I think you should get an SSD or use linux
When reading comments on the internet, you`d believe that almost everybody in the world uses Linux.
Doesn’t PC mean personal computer? 😅😅
Then everyone is a PC guy
...today your personal data belongs to Microsoft and Apple
Personal Computer is extinct, as long as you are connected to internet nothing is personal.
Unless you run a server, in which case it's probably Linux. Also M$ kind of owns your PC more than you do, so... Personal or company product?
@@TheFiretiger20 no your wrong thats just it
@@GameBacardi Not if you know how to deal with it. Maybe not on MacOS, but on Windows.... you can use stripped versions of Windows like Ghost Spectre's. Win 11 Ghost Spectre even comes without Edge preinstalled. The first Browser you install with the Ghost Spectre toolbox will automatically be the default one, lol! As for RAM usage brought it down to 0.7 GB just with TIW11 and Memreduct 😂
So, yeah, I reclaimed my PC :)
Just bought a secondhand laptop to install Linux and map there all my professional workflow. Much easier than expected. The only problem with Linux is that it doesn't come preinstalled by default from many computer manufacturers. You change that, then you'll never regret the switch
@thatCapN Crunch I have no need for these programs. Aren't there decent Linux replacement software you can use to remap your workflow?
@thatCapN Crunch The thing is people only need this stuff because they're used to it. Or their employer makes them use it or school etc.... But it's kind of a chicken and an egg thing because we think we need it because we're so used to it. The truth is you would probably be able to discover workarounds once you got comfortable with an alternative operating system.
I mean I get it, I used to pay for Microsoft word every year just out of habit. Now I use a combination of libre office or Google docs and I never pay for anything.
@thatCapN Crunch is it impossible to get graded if you're a college student using Linux. Feels like that should be illegal. But obviously when I was in college, the computer labs were Mac or PC.
@thatCapN Crunch that's unfortunate.
@thatCapN Crunch try Keita, it can save and read .PSD files
Less than %2 in the desktop space, ~%80 in the server space
I'd bump up that Linux user share percentage to include Android and ChromeBook users, they're derived from Linux too

2:51 "Oh they let you into meetings do they? I wish they let me,"
If you have the 3 guys to build you rest room:
Windows will cover your rest room with glass door and windows so you can enjoy the outside while doing your stuff, but you are on your own to make sure people won't look at you the same way.
Mac will install a super comfort and luxury toilet, and each toilet paper scroll costs at least 20$. P/s: the toilet's cap is sold separately.
Linux will install a console next to your toilet. Everytime you're done, you type "sudo flush -u" and provide a strong password to unlock the flush handle before using it.
as a linux user I cant even fault your analogy. heh
Who throws a shoe? That would be your Austin Powers reference right there haha

I think this is the best video I’ve ever seen from you so far, very good job

My PC was too old for windows 11 so tried linux as a why not option. For my surprise, everything is working as expected, the system is way snappier than W10 and lucky for me all my SW got covered with native apps. I wanted to dual-boot while W10 is still supported but to my own surprise, I have not launched windows on this machine since the linux install. My steam games works like under windows, got my browser, work stuff, home stuff, everything. Now thinking of wiping it and mount the drives used by windows under linux.
For starters and conservative users: Go for linux mint. Mate edition feels like XP, Cinnamon feels like W7, but with stable up2date software. Advanced users should try fedora/manjaro, it's a bit steeper learning curve but you will experience the latest and greatest on linux side.
Same here. I installed Linux a few months ago, I've barely touched windows since as all my games just.... work. And no more blasted "updates" while I'm just trying to boot my computer.
You are so underrated, man!
2:02 Is that an Austin Powers Goldmember Reference? 😂😂
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
Shush mate
Blah blah blah. Another one of those pseudo-elitist Linux know-it-alls. It's you kind of guys that keep normies away from the better OS.

One of your bests lately :D
I love the humor! I did the 6 month Linux daily driver challenge a few years ago, I found it limiting for some of the things I need day to day as an engineer but it could be much better now. Maybe I'll another look sometime!
How exactly did you set up your pi for home computing usage?
depends on how demanding your employer is. Things like GNU Octave are solid enough alternatives to things like Matlab depending on the engineering work you're doing, but it's not 1:1. You can install Matlab on linux too, but in my experience it's pretty shit.

Huge props for the Austin Powers reference
If I am not mistaken most servers run on Linux while most people use windows for personal use. Although thanks to things like the Steam Deck linuc is getting more attention and I hope one day its average user base increase but I hope distros dont make compromises to accommodate them by making it more like windows and mac.

As average computer user, web browsing and some simple video editing, I found Linux is simpler than Windows. They dont force you to instal updates randomly. And all my Steam games work on linux too. I don't need MS office because I want to live my life at home. It can be an excuse too, "sorry bos, I got no proper computer program to work in the weekend, bye"
You just described MacOS though?
@@ghost-user559 wait, you can game on MacOS?
@@RenderingUser Yes? But you definitely have to know what you are doing, and you can’t be too picky. Steam had tons of games on Mac until Catalina. And let’s not forget retro emulation exists.
@@ghost-user559 Linux runs better on shitty hardware. I ran arch with an X server off my shitty netbook from 2012 for shits and giggles for a bit. Not sure you can do that with MacOS
@@RemsHusband Well that’s definitely true for Linux, but only really because MacOS is proprietary. Really Unix/BSD is the most stable and secure system you can have, and MacOS minus the bloat runs on ancient hardware as it’s essentially Unix, they just don’t want you to, but actually my decade old a MacBook Pro can still be patched to run the latest MacOS with OpenCore, and it runs like new.
Linux wins with the compatibility because there are so many distros. But really many distros have dropped 32bit support, and Linux is only as good as the specific distros you use. Not every distro is as freedom focused. So it’s hard to compare all the Linux distros that exist to a single OS distribution like MacOS or Windows. Plus only really a few mainline Linux Distros are even guaranteed to exist in a year or two, and you can’t really rely on any given distro to keep support or even exist except for those mainline distros, so in that sense MacOS has at least guaranteed support for years and years, on average around 6 per OS update. Only a server distro, or LTS Ubuntu or a Redhat or Debian distro really has a similar support cycle.
Good one sir!
Sam never disappoints!
Forgot to mention the fact that Linux runs 90% of the internet
The other 10% is some form of unix based operating system. Actually, does windows server edition even exist anymore?

I hope that Boot Camp returns to the Mac because I feel safer with a dual-boot machine. One of my older Macs is actually triple-boot, since I have Ubuntu Studio installed on an external drive, but I can’t get it to connect to the Internet! Peace.
In 2019 I went all Linux. If Mac had supported a dual boot of Linux I might have gone Mac. Oh well that apple is thrown away now. Linuxer for life.
linux is literally the middle child between both of them😂
You actually can install windows stuff with wine and proton on linux
2:45
Reinstall during meeting
I can't haha
As a Linux user I approve the representation, devs really need to focus on the user experience, I have way less problems than in windows even when I use one of the more prone to encounter update issues of them all. And the "not able to install" part is true in the same way it is for all OS, there are software only available for one of them, and it is mostly Ms office, that should be replaced with only office, and I mean in windows too, is just better and the online version has the complete toolset while also being free, seriously, ditch MS office. For Photoshop there is gimp, but the learning curve makes it not worth it for most, and the other tool that is for windows only and can be installed on Linux but you need a little know how, that tool is also way better than Photoshop, is not free nor open source, but is extremely good and way cheaper, and with a one time payment option instead of subscription, again, it should replace Photoshop even if you have access to it easily, is called ClipStudioPaint
And since this is a comment mentioning Linux I can't avoid making the comment, I use Arch BTW.
This year, when Helldivers 2 was released, I decided to play it. Unfortunately, I encountered crashes, poor performance, and connectivity problems on Windows. To address these issues, I installed Linux (specifically, Ubuntu). Now, I find myself contemplating whether to keep Windows, as it is installed on a 1TB NVME M.2.
Linux is powerful and powerfully confusing too
because linux is not an OS but a kernel with GUI... in other words you are somewhat (not absolutely) directly speaking to your hardware without the middleman called OS.
@@TheFiretiger20 thats basically what a os is a kernal + a gui. And theres no definitive way to define what is and isn't a os so either way your command is vague and doesn't say much of meaning
I just download Ubuntu. Rarely use a terminal except to copy and paste some code if installing something not in the software centre. Ezy peasy
@@mikehocklebycumming1391 i guess linux is as confusing as you make it
@@TheFiretiger20 An OS isn’t a „middleman“ between kernel and GUI. The kernel is the core of any operating system.
Linux is also *just* the Kernel and doesn’t come with any GUI. Any graphical user interface is not part of Linux but built on top of it.
windows reinstalling useless apps during something important is so accurate 😂
Some of the thongs mentioned about linux were the problems that existed a long time ago. Yeah there may be some flaws. But many of them have been rectified.

Nothing turned me to linux faster than windows
And nothing kept me on MacOS more than Linux. And gaming makes me jump back on Windows It’s a vicious cycle.
@@ghost-user559 windows is to much of a headache for me as someone who grew up with it, and linux runs all the games I care about these days (some of them better than windows)
Never cared for apple, so I never tried Mac OS
@@rvmiv_ Oh I agree with you. I grew up with the old school Macintosh, and we had Windows 95 and 98 and onwards. So I have grown up with both, and they all have something I like and something I can’t stand sometimes.
MacOS is my favorite since OS X came out. The only downside is there isn’t really any new games or way to play games. I don’t even play games very often but I know for a lot of people that is part of why they have a machine.
MacOS is so smooth and almost never breaks. It’s literally like if a Linux distro was nearly perfect and never broke.
Windows is horrible now since they added all the bloated spyware but it’s the easiest way to game. I like many Linux distros but even the best of them can break with an update or can be really buggy for no apparent reason out of nowhere, or if you have the wrong hardware certain distros don’t play nice with all drivers. And overall Linux is terrible at certain hardware management like battery life and thermals and basic functionality.
If Linux had as many professional apps I would love to switch. But unfortunately many of the open source apps take years or decades to put out new features to compete with mainstream developers. Photoshop or Affinity or Final cut, or Logic, there is just too many powerful apps on Mac to go full time Linux for me yet.
Right now I like everything about Linux, I just couldn’t daily drive it at this point on all my machines. But I do like to install it on old hardware to give it a second life after it’s too old to receive updates.
Laughed so hard I went full on asthmatic. Linux upside down lolz
