      why? You can get a MUCH faster PC for pretty cheap...
      a 3rd to 5th gen i5 PC should be available for around 50 bucks, maybe get a GT 750 or something like that for the same money and you can play at least some games. I was able to play Cyberpunk on my server (2x Xeon X5690 128GB RAM) with a Quadro K4000. Just don't crank resolution up to the max and you should be fine. 1366x768 is what I use.
      My PC got a i5 8500 (around 50€) and a GTX 970 (I paid 150 for it, but that was a few years ago) and I can play more or less any game I want on ultra. Yes, even Cyberpunk 2077.
      You don't need to spend 1000€+ on a PC to be able to game on it. If you go AMD/ATI you could probably whack a decent PC together for around 300€.

      That's because they probably pay more for those cards now as well. They charge $300 for 1650, while that card wasn't nearly as expensive back in the day. Also it's not like you can buy 3070 for this low. I think we should stop expecting assemblers to charge the mythical Nvidia MSRP for those cards. Also, there are bigger issues with Redux like forcing unnecessary premium items like Wifi card, 600W PSU for 1650 builds, AIOs and expensive cases, as well as Windows for basically retail price. They basically leverage their access to GPUs as much as they can without offering any noteworthy choice.

    On RTFM you made note on how you'd practice speaking in the car in an exaggerated radio voice, so that when you did sit down in front of the camera, your tonality was between that amped up DJ voice, and low key narration. to you im sure it was obvious, but that practice had never really crossed my mind, and it's definitely helped my public speaking in the couple weeks I've been using it. Could you do a video that focuses around your mindset and the preparation you take when you sit in front of a camera and do a talking head? I understand that in the world of content creation, as a presenter, you either have it, or you don't, and you probably think a video like that would be mundane, but for those of us who are developing a content creation style, I feel like it would be massively beneficial to understand your creative processes having seen the finished product for so many years. Talk about how when you added Nick and Phil help you, how your workflow changed, what you wish you would've done differently. I understand that there in an element to peeling back the curtain, and you'd be hesitant to divulge your trade secrets, but it would be very interesting to know what a normal day is like from unlocking the studio door, to when everybody goes home. Thanks for the many hours of great content gents!

GPU's originally started with ATI Radeon HD3870's in Xfire config. later replaced with HD 6870's. Still works, replaced the HD6870's with one R9-280X, Pioneer DVR-215D optical drive. Last time used the system was in 2014. Guess have either Windows 7 or 8.1 cost to build was close to $1,600 and with the ACER P243W 2ms gtg 24 inch monitor of $400 makes it $2,000. I still use the ACER P243W nearly everyday or average 300 days out of 365 per year and works like the day I bought it. Logitech Internet Keyboard, Logitech mouse, Logitech 2.1 sound bar. Linksys/Cisco AE2500 USB Network Adapter. Plantronics Audio 955H headset. Yes! I know I have DDR2 sitting around with a little bit older motherboard. I have a 2002 Compaq Presario 5423US that uses PATA Drives and think it has a PNY GeForce 7600GS AGP not PCIe. Before that was 2001 Compaq Presario 7000T with Pentium 4 1.4GHz Williamette 478 socket and the worse kind of memory was RAMBUS and Windows ME. The best OS of them all is Windows XP Pro. Worse OS of all time is Windows 10 for all the Spyware, Adware, Malware and hidden stuff that Microsoft imbedded in Windows 10, if MS kept their noses clean and not steal your Privacy then yes! Windows 10 would be ranked #2 behind Win XP. Oh! Apple, MS, Spectrum, Verizon, Comcast and many large corporations have negotiated with the U.S. Government and foreign gov'ts to send everything they can about you. You have zero privacy and nothing is confidential. COVID-19 is a conspiracy. CDC and WHO, U.S., Russia and China and other gov'ts planned the greatest hoax of all time. Got to make people fear the wealthy and powerful. Income inequality at the largest gap ever. Rich get wealthier and Poor become poorer. Don't forget about racial tension - divide and conquer also the U.S 2nd Amendment "the right to bear arms" but they trying to take that away so unable to defend ourselves. Before the Great Recession the stock market was around 13,000 points and a decade later over 35,000 points at various times. A lot of people (maybe around 10 million) do not have jobs or family supportive jobs , less middle class and add a few into the top 10 percent while more have fallen into poverty. When the stock market crashes, people lose jobs and when it recovers many never get their jobs back. What's wrong with the system? Don't worry, Get even!

    As has always been the case ever since windows became mainstream, the #1 requirement is RAM! No amount of CPU or GPU power can compensate for lack of RAM. Stick 8GB of DDR2 in that thing(16GB would be a waste if it even supports that much) and it would be "okay". Next hurdle is CPU instructions. The older the CPU the more likely it will lack an instruction that is commonly used now.. Then comes the GPU, which they already addressed just fine. And last is storage speed, which they also addressed. You can get a 500GB SATA SSD for pretty damn cheap now.
    As long as you stick to the older PC games someone could still have a lot of fun on that system. And if you are willing to expand your gaming horizons, you can get into retro gaming! That system would easily run old arcade games, NES, SNES, Genesis, and maybe even PS1 and N64. And you can download all those old games for free, and they take up so little space!

  • @mruczyslaw50
    @mruczyslaw50 3 года назад +10

    There's actually a mod to play doom eternal on core 2 quads as long as they are 8000/9000 series as they support sse 4.1 instruction set, and because of this game great optimalization it is over 30fps and it reaches 60fps sometimes, core 2 quads 6000 series sadly cannot run it because it lacks of sse 4.1 instruction set compatibility. That is also a reason why you cannot run it on amd athlon/phenom processors on am2/am3, but there are programs like intel sde that you can use to emulate lacking instructions to run it whenever your supports it or not, but performance hit is big enough that it isn't really useful.

    • @HappyBeezerStudios
      @HappyBeezerStudios 3 года назад +1

      RGB shouldn't have any impact, there is basically no head from LEDs, so in influence on thermals, and power draw is so small that it shouldn't do anything to performance.
      Fans on 100% is a different thing, I remember some tests where lower temps caused less power draw on CPUs, even at otherwise identical settings. But not sure how much that would actually change in the long run considering the fan will also pull a bit and might be worn out earlier.

    • @darnon2031
      @darnon2031 3 года назад +1

      In theory the fans will wear out faster running full speed all the time. With some RGB setups the programs to control it can use a good bit of CPU overhead for animated effects if the controller doesn't store/process it locally.

    I7-920 overclock to 3.8 on a x58 sabretooth motherboard with 24 gigs of dominator DDR3 1866 and a Nvidia 1080 GPU will get anywhere from Low's of 89 frames to 120 frames per second on a 1440p Dell 32 inch 165 HZ refresh rate monitor in division 2. I know because I'm currently running it. People will enjoy it. I appreciate your video and enjoyed it thank you.

    I'm using a GTX 950M paired with an i5-6300HQ in my laptop to this day since like 2016 or so. It's old and weak as hell by today's standards, but holds up like a damn miracle and it's capable of more than I ever thought it would be, amazing stuff.

    My son's currently gaming on an fx6300 which is 1 year older then he is. It does actually really well with an aftermarket cooler running it to a 4.3ghz OC. Considering I got it for free (except the 1050ti and 240ssd ) it's an insanely good gaming pc for the price

    Nice to see you review old stuff. Im still going on a 13yr old i7 920 system @ 3.5Ghz, 12GB RAM , GTX1060 6GB. I keep wanting to upgrade to a new rig but this old thing just plays everything I throw at it and with high settings. FC5, AC Odyssey, GR Wildlands, Fallout 4, even MSFS (with some sliders on Ultra) it just keeps going. I still wanna upgrade cos I want blistering performance but this thing will go another 20 years if I let it.

    This is 8 years ago... I remember the hype about the GTX 460s a long time ago, can't remember the year, the most powerful GPUs at the time were the GTX 290s and 480s...
    I was coming back to PC gaming after my old Pentium Dual Core + Nvidia 7300GL burned up a couple years before...
    Now here we are! Graphics have gone crazy at 4K resolutions, up to 360FPS, Freesync, Gsync, Ultrawides, consoles that actually can run 4K...
    Just wow...
    Currently in the dark side... playing on an Xbox.

    I have multiple computers but the one I use all the time is an Asus M5A97 with an AMD FX6300 (replaced an Athlon II) with an RX570 4g DDR5 and I added an NVME Pcie3 card with 512g nvme drive (non booting, really makes a huge difference) 16g ram and run an Xplane 11 sim with decent settings and decent fps (20~). I also have an Asus ROG Crosshair X570, Ryzen 3800X, 16g DDR4, EVGA 2060 Super, Sabrent rocket pcie4 nvme 512g for my Xplane 11 with cockpit and physical controls and displays. The M5A97 is still acceptable for everything I need and, I have an M-disk DVD writer (the disks are proven to last 600 years+ based on US Navy tests)
