That tiny church in Baska is actually very important for Croatia as one of the first written documents of croatian language,name and alphabet glagoljica wich was later ruled out by latin.Transcription goes like:

One of my favorite parts of your videos is the way you describe your experiences. They're always so abstract, but relatable. I loved Kyde's description of the dessert ravioli. "The raisins are just dancing around--the raisins are drunk dude. They're really drunk and they're just having a good time; and the cheese is just the cusion that they're falling on that feels so good." Haha

I just discovered you guys and I noticed you posted this on my Birthday :). I am a Californian, solo traveling Europe while working online, and I am going to Croatia soon which is how I discovered your videos....You two are so fun to watch and I love that your videos go off the beaten track, which is how I prefer travel too. And of course I love how you guys are so curious to weird attractions and asking the locals the backstory of things...Oh and watching the two of you figure out how to play on that child seesaw thingie on the playground was hilarious! I can't wait to visit Zagreb and then explore some more of Croatia, just because of your videos...I will be subscribing. :)

I had the same reaction when i first time ate white sauce with truffles and pasta. At first that metallic flavour hits you almost like zinc like. But after a while you kinda like it.
Personally i think with truffles the dosage is important, if you don't over dose it in a dish it adds quite a bit of a flavour.
Wow, this was the entire movie, loved it, many funny moments, but my favorite one was Kyde describing the Krafi in Labin 😂😂 been in Labin several times and I had no idea about Krafi, you guys are teaching me some stuff about my country! That was cool way to end the video, Pluto location is hilarious, troll job for sure 😎

That Bluscht looks like morning glory, relative of sweet potato. They stew it as a vegetable in Vietnam. We've got another relative of it here that's called bindweed and is ... quite good at spreading through hedges.

This was a great video. And the best part to me (after 4 glasses of good wine) was the ending with the voice from the automated map giving you directions onto a street name I could never pronounce correctly let alone spell or recognise on a sign. I have been there so many times. You end up going by instinct :)

That's cool you guys managed to find Pluto. You are right, that was an odd location to put it. I've been watching the videos with the closed captioning and I'm pretty impressed on how accurate it is most of the time, but sometimes it makes funny mistakes like around 44:30 :)

41:36 between Mošćenička Draga and Plomin is very popular part of coastal road for motorcycle riders. Good asphalt, combination of bends and straights and not that much traffic. Unfortunately there were plenty of fatal accidents. I'm from Rijeka so i rode that part on my bike many times

You have no idea how happy it made when you visited the more continental area. Idk if you did,but if you didnt, you should visit the region north of Zagreb where you can find an actual castle from fairytales. And also the northern part of Slavonia,over Osijek (the fourth largest city) and the nature park there.
They did.... there are videos about Zagreb and some parts of Slavonia...
They were in Vukovar for example.

- Regarding the truffles and dogs vs. pigs, the
reason pigs were the animal originally used is because that actually Is
the terrain of wild pigs (woods, the bush, ect.), and not only are they
smart (so you can train them to the scent of truffles), but they're
really good rooters, so they are really good at digging up the truffles
For you. Wonder if another reason maybe is because they might've been a lot cheaper for people back then than dogs??? Lol dunno. Dogs are better in a lot of ways though of course, hence why
more popular now :)

there was a Little bit of what you guys have been seeing just purely
based on Game Of Thrones, but I NEVER would've thought there were So

has just been more diverse than I thought also. Croatia is DEF higher on

0. Absolutely! Definitely had some of all the things that makes a K&E video enjoyable to watch!
1. Kitties, I think that the idea that they don't let just anybody pet them makes you feel extra special when they allow the pets.
The sound was 90% natural, but I had to boost it a little bit by mixing in a tiny bit of audio from a lav mic I was wearing. Kyde could hear me clearly, however the mic on our camera is good but picked up birds and stuff which made the lav mix necessary.
Kitties are the best when you win them over. Dogs are social whores, which has it's place too....like when hunting truffles! Hahaha. -E

Cool video, but you have to realize you were outside the tourist season. A lot of these towns, especially on the coast and islands basically go into hibernation from october to april... and january february can get get particularly grim, with bura winds and all... (one of the reasons why it's smart to own a stone house there) Most restaurants and cafes close during this time and even the majority of younger locals leave to work and study in bigger cities, especially Zagreb. While july and august are peak touristy and most crowded, the best time to go visit these places are may, june and september - the best weather and just the right amount of people.

In the summer time you have many concerts in it. They didn't show quite a lot of beautiful places. visit Croatia and explore it.
Hi guys I'm belatedly working my way through your Croatia videos, thanks for a great series. I wonder if the placement of Pluto in the middle of a busy road is to represent the dwarf planet's actual position in the Kuiper Belt where asteroids are constantly moving and swirling around much like the vehicles on the road.

Doggies for sure! How much did the truffle tour cost you? I've always thought with white and black truffles, one smells seafood-ish and the other garlicky, but I am not familiar enough with them to remember which was which. Mixed into butter, they each were really tasty spread on bread, each with it's own merits. Speaking of ants, have you seen the AntsCanada channel? I never knew ants could be so interesting! Cheese in desserts is not as uncommon as you might think, like cheesecake, cannolis, blintzes, cream cheese frosting, cheese danish all use sweetened mild cheeses like cream cheese, neufachatel, or mascarpone. I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next one!
I don't recall the cost for the truffle hunt. We got a deal as it's usually part of a package from Zagreb but they cut the price as we arrived in our own car and during the off-season. It wasn't super cheap, but it was worth it. -E

For my first ever trip to the Balkans, can you reccomend a particular starting (city/town) point?
Honestly, I don't know if we can really answer that well as we've really only been to Croatia and Athens in the Balkans. You can't go wrong with any of Croatia's coastal cities, we really loved the Istria area covered in this video as it's awesome but not super touristy. However a car rental is basically required to explore it properly. -E

In the summer time all coast is good. Start from Rovinj in Istria, then go to Pula, visit Brijuni archipelago national park, visit Opatija, visit Rijeka, continue to city of Zadar along the coast (200 km of roads on which all commercials for Mercedes, Porche, Aston Martin, BMW etc are made, if you like to party go to island of Pag on Zrce beach (dont forget to taste Pag lamb and cheese), visit Zadar, Sibenik (castles), Primosten, Trogir, Split, Sinj in August during Alka, Makarska rivijera, buy fresh fruits and food in delta of river Neretva, visit Ston and stone walls (eat endemic oysters), visit Korcula, continue to Trsteno arboretum than to Dubrovnik and from there home.
Along the coast you have national parks and islands are just beautiful. Stay in each place 2 days and explore surrounding areas because they are beautiful and full of history. On islands sea is crystal clear.

Croatia is actually not on Balkans. We live closer to European Alpine region, we are living in Mediterranean area and in central Europe. It is just a word which is used when you want to describe something negative like uneducated, wild people. Balkans is also known as gunpowder barrel because of mix of religions, cultures and wild people.

Also on the note of drinking and driving in Croatia, the legal limit is 0.5 ‰ in , so you can even drink one beer or glass of wine and be good.

Fair question, but in Croatia you are not going in jail for drunk driving, you only get a fine. I know it sounds stupid but that's how it is.
Don't get me wrong, I don't advise drunk driving, but if you are in Cro and want drink some good wine (glass or two) you will be fine with police.
