"Just start" is the best advice anyone can get. I’d been wanting to start a channel for a long time, and one day, I just did it. Today marks 100 pieces of content. Did I make money from it? Nope! But it’s content I crafted, it’s up, and it’ll stay. I did it for fun, and I’m still here for the fun of it, and for the challenge. The hits will come, or they won’t - whatever. What matters is to keep at it and enjoy the journey. Cheers Ali! Great video!
Small creators let’s gather here! I’ve made it to 396 subs and got stuck, for all the small creators stay consistent and keep creating content you love! Focus on connecting with your audience and trust the process-growth will come with time and passion. You’ve got this!
thank you ali abdaal you saved me from struggling for a lifetime. I was trying to find the best niche but I watched your video about you are the niche and you will find your best niche during content creation and it helped me a lot now I'm trying to build my own style videos and niche 🔥👌 thanks again

I disliked making videos for a period of time because I was making content that gets "views" and not for fun. It worked but I just couldn't get myself to make videos anymore. Hearing you say that you need to have fun for it to last long truly was a game changer for me. Using the example of a committed relationship also made me understand RUclips so much better because it doesn't mean having fun all the time, there are going to be occasional arguments, fights, sadness, anger, all these negative feelings along the way but if I truly "love" making videos, nothing could break us apart and eventually, I believe it'll all work out. Thank you for sharing this video, Ali! Truly appreciate it!
There's a book called Success Secrets Of The Elite, it talks about how using some secret techniques you can attract a lot of money, it's not some bullshit, it's the real deal. Great video btw
I had never asked myself if I would keep making RUclips videos without pay-until this video. The answer is YES! I love inspiring people and want to make a big difference in the world. I've grown so much since starting my channel. 🙂
Such an honest and insightful take on starting a RUclips channel! Loved the focus on understanding motivations and the balance between fun and financial goals. The seven-video challenge is such a great way to get started
Thank you! I have been struggling on whether to start a youtube channel or not, I didn't know whether I wanna do it for fun or for money!! This video really cleared my doubts!
Ali, your youtube videos are the one inspiring me to make youtube channel of my own. After years as youtube consumer, in the view last month i've been thinking "why not?" "why can't i become a youtube conten creator" since my job as a a trainer motivate me to give value to others by public speaking. Your tips very insightful for a beginner like me. Thank you so much.
I started watching you when I was in my second year of uni, back when you were making videos about Anki and studying tips. Have been inspired since then
Just started a RUclips for myself as a creator first. Always wanted to do it, just never had the courage to actually try. If you love to create and are on the edge, just do it! It’s hard and scary, but so worth to get the idea in your head out to the world!
This is really valuable! You inspired me to start my own channel six months ago. I am already monetized with 5000 subscribers! I did not think it would happen so fast. My only regret is that I did not start sooner. RUclips is so much fun and you really learn a lot from making videos.
Thanks so much for this video, Ali! This is your best video in recent months (in my opinion 😉). I started my channel in May 2023 after discovering your channel - your insight that "no one cares about RUclips channel" was what gave me the courage to put myself out there and 1.5 years and 80+ videos later, although I'm only on 614 subs, I'm still so glad that I took that leap and have found something I really enjoy doing despite not making a penny from it yet so far. Great stuff Ali, you're such an inspiration to aspiring RUclipsrs out there!!! I hope you and Izzy are enjoying your new life in Hong Kong as newlyweds - wishing you two all the best 💖
I just watched your video and couldn’t stop exploring your channel-your content is so engaging and inspiring! You truly deserve to be an influencer reaching millions of people around the world with your confidence, belief, and trust in what you do. As beginners on this platform, we have so much to learn from you and your journey. Thank you for being such a great example to follow.
This ‘enormous’ video was so incredibly helpful! I’m especially impressed by the fact you offer the 7-Video Challenge - it sounds like a wonderful community to be a part of.
Thanks Ali! I've been binging on all your starting RUclips videos and was super surprised to see a new one drop only two days ago. Love how the content is super informative and genuine. Appreciate you!
Ali, you’re the man. I won the jiu-jitsu world championships last year, and I have been nervous to start putting content out to help grow my brand. Your videos have helped me with my confidence and approach!
I’m also a medical doctor, who started a RUclips channel a year ago. The channel has almost nothing to do with my profession (it’s about nature and permaculure) an it sometimes feels wrong to talk about my passion while not really having any authority on the matter. I think that mindset comes from having a scientific education and it’s not all bad, but it is something I have to work on.
Thank you for this video Ali! I finally started 2 months ago after thinking about it for years. Posted video 7 today and excited to see where this journey takes me
i just love listening to Ali, he is so passionate, yet sensible at the same time, makes me want to start because I just have so much to share and people have been telling please record what you're saying. Me overthinking, self-doubting and worrying about how i will look, what my friends and family will say.
I learned a lot after started my RUclips channel as how to speak in front of the cameras, voice tone, editing etc; maybe I will be a public speaker in the future! I already have my business but started RUclips to grow my business!

Love the long-form-advicey content style. Feel like I'm getting to understand the advice at a deeper level as compared to when it was just a list.
I think around the 10-minute mark is one of the most honest and vulnerable moments that I appreciate about your channel. It’s when you have a real, honest reflection in real-time. I know what it’s like to create content and think, ‘I want people to engage, I want to optimize, and I want to do everything I can to make sure this video performs its best.’ But that doesn’t always align with what you actually want to do. I’d add that there’s a kind of friction between maximizing optimization and doing what you truly want. If there’s too much friction between the style you need to optimize for and the style you enjoy and find comfort in, it will burn you out and may even prevent you from creating at all. Anyway, thanks for the video!
i'm sorry but i don't think he's truely being honest. Based on what cal newport, whom ali speaks highly of and has had as guest in his podcast and made entire video just about his book says based how youtube algo works best niche is your unique selling point either than you should have something which other might aspire like video editor for logal paul, being top executive or best selling author. Solid content as always Ali! I started my channel 4 years ago and with consistency and learning from my mistakes I have been able to grow it! Video's like these always help put things in perspective and are always insghtful.
Thanks once again Ali! I started this year, after overthinking too much. Even my mentor, Joe Navarro, said I reeeeeeally needed to start making videos. But I wasn't up for it. Not good enough, I hate the camera, ADHD, so remembering texts will be like struggling through my TEDx talk, why should I do that horror every week? And then I remembered what Joe said: "Just teach An!" Ohw yes, I am a teacher and interviewer, duh! I am starting to find it fun! Looking forward to how far we can get this! Thank you or helping me start!
Thanks for the awesome content! 100% agreed about needing to know what your motivation is about your channel. I started mine to document my journey and because of that I enjoy creating content, looking back, and planning forward. I know I'm not at 1mil subs but I'm in such a cool niche with an amazing community and am absolutely loving it! As you said, I did 1 video a week for the past 2 years and my life has definitely changed.
Ali is just so good! Wish him all the best and to achieve greater results! He inspired me with his style to start a RUclips channel. It's been one year and since then I am developing the content structure and delivery. See ya!
I've found your videos at a time when I'm reconsidering my life and wanting to inject intention to it. I turn 60 this year and will be using my YT channel to document my journey, week by week. I'm doing my first video today...
Thanks Ali from the bottom of my heart I started my yt channel 2-3 weeks ago just because of you.I have learned a lot from you hope to be someone like you someday. Infinite love brother
I've spent so much time himmming and hawing over creating videos. Fear, imposter syndrome, etc. For YEARS. Every day i think where'd I'd be if I had just made my first video when i ORIGINALLY thought to do it over 10 years ago. Why do we sabotage ourselves through fear & overthinking when it is so easy once we push through those self-limiting doubts...not so much to push through them, but once we do we realize how much we held ourselves back.
Finally someone who can share my prospective in a way I could never covey. I started youtube solely for the money with no business and I have failed miserably several times. But key is I always get back up. Because youtube does change people. It evolves people. It has saved my life In so many ways. That I don't see my life any other way than pouring back into the platform the way it has poured into me. The sky is the limit if you only focus on your passion and creativity. I'm enjoying the journey weather fail or pass. in my mind I'm always winning as long as I show up.
This is inspiring. There is a lot of advice to find in your videos. You gotta enjoy the proces, learn by your mistakes, be mindful and seek your inner motivation and love. That will make you smile everytime you think of your RUclips journey.
I’ve learned so much from your videos! Your tips and advice have been incredibly helpful, and they’ve even inspired me to explore my own creative journey in the world of RUclips. Highly recommend anyone who’s passionate about healthy cooking to keep learning and trying new things. This community is amazing!”
RUclips is a great creative outlet that’s why i started a channel, I feel so proud of myself when i finish editing my videos and I’m already learning so much. You can tell who’s here only for money, the ones eager for watch hours and subscribers. People with money mindset knows you don’t chase, you attract 😊
Thanks for this, Ali. For me, therapeutic sewing, and learning something new and challenging has been such a passion of mine. A passion project. I just surveyed my channel and in fact I have 11 videos! Three would be considered shorts and are less than a minute. I've already made a very close connection with another sewist who also has a professional "day job" - Watching this video further validates my path. Much appreciated!
Great video thank you for the advice, I haven’t done RUclips in over 5 years and gave up but we’re back 2025 and ive already made 7 videos! Thanks for your help
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for these videos. Channel has just started to really fly and you inspired me to get back into it after a massive hiatus.
This really reaffirmed to me how much I love making content in my niche because I think I will continue despite being a tiny channel. I enjoy the interactions I have with my few subscribers. One day it would be cool to be monetized but I have met people who are starting channels and they are so desperate for views and subs and it comes across really obvious in their videos. Thank you for sharing you first CPR experience and for this video.
Ali always has the best advice! I finally decided to start being consistent and I've been having so much fun creating videos. Thank you Ali for sharing your experience and helping us on our RUclips journey. 😊
Thank you for being honest. I love the question "would you still do RUclips if you never made money from it". I definitely would because I enjoy making content and inspiring others as a mom of 2 who is in college.
I've got to say, this was the best content on both confirming what I was already learning while making a blog, but also contained exactly what I need to do to start taking the next steps. I know blogging and vlogging are very different, but in then end they are both content creation. I already have my niche as I have learned to live with schizophrenia successfully through a variety of hard work, and I want to help guide people through that. Maybe one day I'll branch out to youtube, but for now I've got my first 20 blogs written so I'm going right to level 2, and I am so committed to this goal of helping guide my people. There are so few schizophrenic content creators and one of the biggest just blew up a huge controversy, and the majority of the content is from psychiatrists and have no human element. I'm not afraid of someone stealing this idea, because even if we has the same idea, our execution will be so different that each content will be unique.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been experimenting with making ambient Pomodoro trackers, and focusing on intrinsic motivation has made the process so much more fun. Thanks for the reminder to stay consistent-it’s just what I needed to hear before I ended up crying for hours, feeling like I’m failing!
I'm a small creator and as it happens sometimes I get depressed no getting views or subscribers but whenever I see your video I get motivated and feel fine. Thanks bro
I set myself a goal of creating 10 videos to see if I would enjoy creating content on YT. I was smitten by video #7! It’s not easy, but I’m consistent and happy just being on this journey
I started my RUclips journey back in 2021 during the pandemic, right after having my first baby during the first lockdown here in Ontario, Canada. It was a stressful time, but I discovered RUclips and found a way to channel my passion for video making. I’ve loved creating videos since the early 2000s when I first started with a point-and-shoot Canon! Though I was discouraged by slow views and got caught up in the chaos of being a new mom, here I am in 2025, with another baby and a lot more videos under my belt. This time, I’m committed to pushing forward and not stopping! 💪Sending my best vibes to all the small channels out there - we’ve got this!
Thank you for your solid advice and helping us think about our Why! There needs to be intrinsic value because that’s what’s going to fuel you when you feel defeated. I appreciate your candor. Just started my channel 3 weeks ago and so far I’m having a ball. I’m learning so much and love supporting others during this eye opening journey.
I love your videos about this subject. You and Izzy are the reason as to why I finally gathered enough courage to start my own channel. 3 videos posted so far and motivated to keep going :) thank you for having our backs 💗🧜♀️
I loved the first 15 minutes that I just had to leave a comment. Definitely a "Creator First" channel. I've been creating videos for about a year and a half and the personal growth is what keeps me going. I enjoy the process and view each video as a way to get better. I know I'll be successful at it eventually but also have a deep appreciation for the learning that is going on behind the scenes. It's so impactful to my mindset and journey as a hopeful entrepreneur. Cheering on anyone who sees this comment :)
I only have 1 follower, but still it`s so much fun to create my videos (there bad lol but getting better). and I`m so thrilled to create more for me and document my journey. Thanks for the video Ali!
WE HAVE A VISION OF 100 VIDEOS IN 100 WEEKS From our few months of recording, it’s best to minimise the steps between recording and publishing. From an advice from your channel, we have now employed a video editor, so that we can spend more time recording. Thank you Ali!!!🎉🎉🎉
@@PyramidPointAccountantsvery correct! We do one long form video and multiple shorts per week. The grand vision divided into weekly goals makes the difference for us. Just subscribed to your channel.
I'm in the casual phase of making videos. I don't want to start yet another business in my life, as of now, however "never say never" as common wisdom says... I have my personal website (and several non-commercial projects); I want "my people" to find me as I somehow cannot find them... which is regretful and painfully true. I've been following you and your channels for quite some time and highly appreciate what you (both) are doing. Thank you!
Fantastic advice Ali. When being a business owner making the transition into RUclips, there can be so much overthinking! This is the advice we needed to hear 🙏

Thank you so much for this video Ali ❤ I love this more casual style of talking and hearing you give honest advice, it helped me get clear on a lot of things 🌟
Hi Ali! Just wanted to come on here to say a few things particularly with regards to your anxiety around this video being more long form. 1. I really enjoy your long form videos as a member of your audience. I feel like I'm getting much more value for my time, more in- depth knowledge, a more holistic perspective in general that this sort of long- form allows which allows you to explore nuance and bring in a wide range of examples. 2. The way your videos are edited is really lovely, and not instantly overwhelming on the senses, which is why your long form works even more, because not only am I getting valuable content, I'm also getting to take a longer break from excessive stimulation. Plus it's better for our attention spans to have this sort of content available as a remedy or a way out. 3. While I understand the need for engagement, I really do not want you to stop making such videos because they really do help more than you realise. Incorporate them in a little more because I would like to see more of them!
This video literally just saved me years of my life. I was in the process of doing the thing you said not to, albiet on a different platform. Thank you Ali 🙏
I am on the way brother. as of today I made 43 videos in last 5 months. and I can feel the improvement myself. with that I can explain that dopamine rush in my body after I am done with edit part and sit relax and watch what I just made. this make me so much happy and I hope so people might get some value out of my videos.
At first I wanted to do RUclips for money but now I view it as a vehicle of personal development- I am overcoming my fear of imposter syndrome, backlash and the path of talking and showing my face - I realised I've become more confident and so now after overthinking for two yrs ... I am quite happy to explore RUclips until i develop into my desired best - you were one of the voices in my head that pushed me out of my seat ... 😊😊
I started a channel a week ago. Got my 1st video up. It was a anxious and excited. It was fun and already working on 2nd. You helped me sir to get into it and make that 1st step. Thank you :D
Just love the ambiance and the quality of your content! Your honest advice on starting a RUclips channel is so pure and educational. I am so impressed! I have watched over 50 of your videos. I am an entrepreneur in the food industry. I always wanted to teach people how to cook in simple form. I am tempting to take the plunge of the 7 video challenge. It’s the fear of being on camera and the technical editing part that is holding me back😢😢😢
Thank you Ali. That is really inspiring. I love the idea of setting a challenge to create 7 videos. I know that I tend to do best when I’m not looking for an extrinsic reward. I have so many ideas. I’m just going to focus on creating those first 7 videos and not worrying about the views. 🙏😊❤
I’ve just started. After years of consuming content on RUclips the last 15 years I took the plunge. Definitely a nerve wracking experience! Everything will come naturally. But most importantly, enjoy it!
I found this video so demotivating. I started my RUclips with just a leap of faith, just for the sake of trying. Giving myself a shot to find myself in it. And after that video I have this thought of “don’t even try”
I recently started my RUclips journey with the fear of being criticized, but I won’t stop. I’m determined to make it the best and most helpful for students out there. "Your video definitely gave me the courage to continue"
I love your videos Ali. I think it shows a lot of wisdom (and experience) to not get super caught up in "retention" and keeping the viewer engaged. I can really tell when someone has added a bunch of graphics, scene changes and sounds to try to make their content engaging. I find it off-putting and will often click away. You, and what you have to say, are interesting enough to the people who are hear to learn from you. The same goes for anyone thinking they need to be on every social media platform to be successful. If the idea of doing RUclips, Instagram AND TikTok overwhelms you- then don't. As a millennial I find it really easy to say no to overwhelm. Life is short. Do what you want and nothing you don't. SIMPLE ☺
I love how you are writing on the tablet and it simultaneously it comes on the screen but transparent and not like with a screenvideo or on paper i hope that makes sense how i described it but i just like that visual that way🥰
I’m 62 and started a RUclips channel a year ago. I’m growing slowly but I started the channel just for fun. I’m retired and just wanted to learn and enjoy the process. I will admit it is much more work and somewhat difficult in the tech learning when I am not really into tech and haven’t learnt much over my lifetime. I still enjoy the creative aspect but sometimes wish I would grow a little faster so I know I’m doing okay and offering something folks enjoy. And I would enjoy making some money now because it has cost money to do. I sometimes need to remind myself that I started for fun 😊. I enjoy your videos. Thanks
And ali's brand was cambridge univestity, top 10 univesity in the world. Not surprised he didn't mention that. Check his thumbnails for his old video till he reaced 50k subs

Congrats!
all the best Jeff!
Thank you for these tips Ali! Will certainly be implementing these this year.
Best of luck to the other content creators out there as well!
Thank you for this video Ali! I finally started 2 months ago after thinking about it for years. Posted video 7 today and excited to see where this journey takes me
Best of luck
i just love listening to Ali, he is so passionate, yet sensible at the same time, makes me want to start because I just have so much to share and people have been telling please record what you're saying. Me overthinking, self-doubting and worrying about how i will look, what my friends and family will say.
Still so helpful even 5 years into my RUclips journey 🎉❤
For ali abdaal it was one of top 5 university (cambridge university) he used it's brand value in every thumbnail up until he got 50K subs. For his book at that time it was 5M+ subs, for he youtube coaching it was again his youtube success. People woudn't have watched he if he was just any random medical student or wrote a fiction book or had clothing business.
I'm surprised he didn't mention this, people will watch this start their channels. Get frustrated and then buy his course and then get dissaponted.
source: i looked it up, it's ep 304 and 135. Podcast name is deep dive.
See ya!
This Video found me at the right time! I needed this prospective shift!
P.S F retention Editing Ima master Story telling!
I've found your videos at a time when I'm reconsidering my life and wanting to inject intention to it. I turn 60 this year and will be using my YT channel to document my journey, week by week.
I'm doing my first video today...
All the best!
Everything lies on the other side of comfort!
Thank you so much!! It helped💜🥹 Wishing Ali the best in 2025 too!!🍀🤞
RUclips is a great creative outlet that’s why i started a channel, I feel so proud of myself when i finish editing my videos and I’m already learning so much. You can tell who’s here only for money, the ones eager for watch hours and subscribers. People with money mindset knows you don’t chase, you attract 😊
I appreciate the honesty in this video ❤
Thank you Ali for such an honest video even though it "could" make you less money. This is why I follow you
This really reaffirmed to me how much I love making content in my niche because I think I will continue despite being a tiny channel.
Thanks bro
His videos are really motivating
@sethrealestate indeed
I set myself a goal of creating 10 videos to see if I would enjoy creating content on YT. I was smitten by video #7!
It’s not easy, but I’m consistent and happy just being on this journey
I love this idea. The reframe is brilliant. I’m stealing it. 😂
I was trying youtube for multiple years until figuring out the topic I would like to go for! Experimentation is key =) Thanks for the video.
So much helpful information! As a small RUclips creator putting out more videos this year as my goal, this was a great watch 😊
Yes I think “just start” is the best advice for anything, I just start my RUclips channel and now I have 20 subscribers!, just don’t give up!
You got 37 now!! Congratss
@ yees!! It’s crazy, than you!
Cheering on anyone who sees this comment :)
this is super helpful! you reminded me that this is meant to be fun and casual for me, not a business
I only have 1 follower, but still it`s so much fun to create my videos (there bad lol but getting better). and I`m so thrilled to create more for me and document my journey. Thanks for the video Ali!
I have always enjoyed your honesty and transparency, and this video is no exception.
Thanks Ali you have helped me so much, love your journey and training, keep going and adding values to people.
WE HAVE A VISION OF 100 VIDEOS IN 100 WEEKS
From our few months of recording, it’s best to minimise the steps between recording and publishing.
From an advice from your channel, we have now employed a video editor, so that we can spend more time recording.
Thank you Ali!!!🎉🎉🎉
@thefaftrybe ah that's a great vision to publish 100 videos in 100 weeks. I maintain my quarterly vision of one video and two shorts each week!🤔

I will give you credit one day...such an amazing video.
Thank you so much, Ali. I didnt know I needed to hear the encouragement of the joy. My heart feels extremely full. You are a treasure.
I’m an accountant and I totally agree. 😂😂 I’m making videos because I’ve had this calling to inspire others to go for their goals and dreams. It’s opened up this plethora of ideas and passion! Thank you for this logical breakdown. 🎉👍
Ah you’re accountant, too
Thank you so much for this video Ali ❤ I love this more casual style of talking and hearing you give honest advice, it helped me get clear on a lot of things 🌟
I'm loving your new energy! You're really keeping me centered with my creation process.
The five views and three dislikes on your first to-camera video breaks my heart! 😭 Thanks for sharing that Ali! Love the authenticity.
I am on the way brother.
as of today
I made 43 videos in last 5 months.
and I can feel the improvement myself.
with that I can explain that dopamine rush in my body after
I am done with edit part and sit relax and watch
what I just made.
this make me so much happy
and I hope so people might get some value out of my videos.
Dude thank you! I been watching for a short while and I think I’m quite on track in my niche!!! THANK YOU
Just love the ambiance and the quality of your content! Your honest advice on starting a RUclips channel is so pure and educational. I am so impressed! I have watched over 50 of your videos. I am an entrepreneur in the food industry. I always wanted to teach people how to cook in simple form. I am tempting to take the plunge of the 7 video challenge. It’s the fear of being on camera and the technical editing part that is holding me back😢😢😢
👍, question?
I am interested in making daily earns by trading but I am not sure how to get started. Do you have any suggestions?
No idea from here 😢
PARTNERSHIP WITH AN EXPERT IS ESSENTIAL TO MAKE DAILY PROFITS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE
THERE IS NO RELIABLE STRATEGY
Watch all the RUclips videos you want, you are likely to blow your account, speaking from experience 😂
Makes sense enough haha
I love your thoughts! And I also wanted to say, your editors are absolutely amazing. This video quality is incredible.
I love your honesty and admire your journey so much! I really hope you’ll learn Japanese soon as I’m Japanese and eager to hear you speak it 😜hehe
Re-branging my channel, and your advice has been great help! Thank you
Thank you Ali. That is really inspiring. I love the idea of setting a challenge to create 7 videos. I know that I tend to do best when I’m not looking for an extrinsic reward. I have so many ideas. I’m just going to focus on creating those first 7 videos and not worrying about the views. 🙏😊❤
Love you content! Watched your video on the 12 week year previously and applied it for 2025, loving it! I recommend more book reviewing content 😊
I’ve just started. After years of consuming content on RUclips the last 15 years I took the plunge. Definitely a nerve wracking experience! Everything will come naturally. But most importantly, enjoy it!
Thanks for all your tips and the journey that you shared with us. I am following you since you were a student.
SIMPLE ☺
I love how you are writing on the tablet and it simultaneously it comes on the screen but transparent and not like with a screenvideo or on paper i hope that makes sense how i described it but i just like that visual that way🥰
The honesty is much appreciated. Great video!
I like your honesty ! Enjoying listening to your talks ! 😊
Thanks
Who else has also started one?
Ready to get good at this 🔥
Don’t chase trends, build a brand around your uniqueness
And ali's brand was cambridge univestity, top 10 univesity in the world. Not surprised he didn't mention that. Check his thumbnails for his old video till he reaced 50k subs
Loved this video, very helpful for aspiring creators
To all small channel keep a spirit cause you guys are already great people
